....And one thing only; California style carne asada burritos.(carne asada steak, french fries, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa). I had been searching in desperation to find a Mexican place that could offer something comparable to the style of burritos I was used to from up north. This place did the trick. I order the California style burrito with extra sour cream, minus the salsa fresca. Ask for a few tubs of their red salsa when you pick up your order, and get ready for a real treat. I have ordered a few other menu items there, and have been thoroughly disappointed each time. The culprits were chicken tacos, which were inedible (unless you care for dark meat of chicken with grisly cartilage and bone). The cheese enchiladas were bland. The taquitos were dry and greasy. Stick with the California burrito and get ready for a zero energy afternoon and a satisfied tummy!

The food here is very good and fairly affordable. The portions are a decent size. The quality and taste of the food is superb. Their menu has a wide range of choices, from the standard tacos, burritos, rolled tacos, etc. But also enchiladas, tamales, tortas, and my favorite, the carne asada fries. And there are also shrimp and fish on the menu. Prices are affordable. I would say they compare to Robertos, Sombreros, or your other neighborhood Mexican burrito/taco place. The downside is the size. There is a small corridor where you line up to a cashier to place your order. Then its out the side door to wait or you can go find a table. During the lunch rush, there is always a line out the door. You can also call ahead and place your order.

Always good food and highly accessible off the highway. Food is made to order and pretty quick. Its quite busy during the lunch rush (11:30-1P) so phone your order in or arrive early because parking can be limited. Oh, and they have Mexican Coke & Fanta. Youre welcome. If you want food right when they open, depending on what you order, its best to wait until about 30 minutes after theyve opened. The refried beans arent always ready that early. One star off for limited parking but thats not a knock on their food.

Bean and cheese burritos was disappointing. Notably reviewed by my eight y/o, who prefers Rubios for custom B&C burritos. Avocado slices were substituted with guac which was disappointing for her. I had the Pollo Asada burritos and also found it disappointing. Dry, no guacamole, no overly tasty. I know this place has been a long time standard for the area, but did not have the appear of the hole in the wall taco shop with amazing home cooked tasting food.

I work down the street from Caliente, Ive eaten there mutiple times, tried just about everything on the menu. Honestly as far as Mexican Food goes, this place is amazing. The food is always consistent, the chefs have been working there for quite some time, you always know what to expect. Hands down, best breakfest burrito ive had since i moved down here to San Diego.

I work down the street from here and I come here at least twice a week for lunch. I love the food, everything is always fresh and hot. The wait isnt very long so its a great place to go if you need to grab a quick lunch. I recommend this place to anyone looking for really good Mexican food at a decent price and served in great time.

I love everything about this place. The homemade hot sauce, the juicy carnitas, the trees you sit under. They are quick, friendly and quality-consistent. My place to go whenever Im around in the Del Mar area or passing by on the 5. Can get crowded with people from the surrounding businesses for lunchtime.

Ordered the 3 Beef rolled tacos, VERY GOOD! I asked for the guacamole on the side but it turned out the guacamole was very good. I would definitely come back again however the bathrooms are kind of in a weird place but its not too inconvenient. besides nice location

Just went there today on a recommendation. They screwed up my order. The other two people ordered fish tacos - The "fish" was mostly batter and the fish was still frozen in the middle. Disgusting.

Best tex mex in San Diego, and Ive tried them all. Get beef filet fajitas medium rare, fried avocado, margaritas on the rocks. Good queso/guac.
