I first visited the renowned (by my boyfriend mostly who ate here everyday after work and many fellow foodies) S.F. location and was a little tired and thought it was good but forgot about it for a bit. We then happened upon this Natomas location after a really bad day (car was stolen and we had just picked it up from the nearby tow yard, tmi, i know) I was completely satisfied, by flavor and value. I had the brains just to be bold and I really liked it despite the weird texture. My Partner was so happy his favorite restaurant had come to town that he was instantly in a better mood even after paying hundreds to get a car back that was stripped and ransacked. The folks at Shalimar are always nice and welcoming even when I have a toddler with me who makes a small mess. I highly recommend this place if you want to show someone that Sacramento isnt as culturally dry as it can sometimes seem or if you just want to please the exotic food lover in yourself.

Growing up in SF and going to Shalimar on Jones street was like going to a second home. At the time, I was attending SFSU and after procrastinating and cramming on schoolwork my classmates and I would go eat Shalimar. Its more than comfort food, it was soul food. And since moving out to Solano county, I was really missen the city life and Shalimar. Having found that Shalimar is in Sacramento was awesome. Coming out here I could never go wrong. I know that theres other options but risking disappointment and the unknown is not always in the cards for me. Thats why this place is a sure bet!

Do yourself a favor and skip the chain restaurants surrounding this place. Their food was amazing. Ill admit I went in with low expectations, but they blew me away! The ambiance isnt great but I knew we chose wisely when the aroma of spices hit us. I ordered #29 it was an amazing vegetable medley full of spices with just enough kick to accent but not over power. The rice, dont even get me started! It was scrumptious. The garlic naan was the best Ive ever had. 2 entrees, rice, and naan was $20. Go now! Im sad I live in Reno and cant frequent this establishment.

Loveee Shalimar. Great food, great prices, and prime location in the Promenade near North Natomas. Their grill items are best like the Murgh Tikka Lahori. But the biryani and saalans (curries) are great too. Dat okra dish with onion kulcha, Mmm. Im from Karachi and were really big on flavor and spice. Theyve got flavor covered, the spice part youll generally have to ask for and is a bit hit or miss but Ill still give 5 stars for flavor alone

Our most favourite restaurant in the world. We used to drive all the way to SF just to eat at Shalimar. When we learnt Shalimar moving here -- we felt like our quality of life improved a notch. Every item on the menu is awesome. My favorites are goat karahi, chicken jalfrezi, milijhuli sabzi, and mango lassi. One true exotic thing is the brain masala -- you should try it at least once in your life.

Beautifully flavored fresh Indian food. Me and my girlfriend visited on a stopover in Sacramento and had a hankering for some Indian. We both got chicken tikka massala and it was excellent. Im from the UK where we have some of the best Indian food around and as soon as we opened the door the smell took me back to curry houses back home! Very professional staff and decent prices.

Great food, decent price. I guess we showed up just in time because it was quiet with a few tables full and a group of young men sitting on the patio. As soon as we ordered every table filled. It was later in the evening but it was filled with families. Lots of young kids, got very nousy and busy. Lively atmosphere and great food. Reasonably priced.

Went for dinner once, had a lot to choose from. Prices are decent. Sometimes, waiting time can be a big problem but after eating, you can forget everything except the delicious food and desserts. Planning to go back soon! Beautiful place. However, parking is a little bit confusing if you dont know the area.

Average food, nothing great at all. The onion kulcha smelled weird & was a bit burnt, and they forgot to bring over the sweets too. It took us to go to the counter to ask them to just bill us out coz we couldnt wait forever while the chefs and servers were using their smartphones.

Walking in and the aroma was great, I knew my wife had made a great choice. The place is not a full blown sit down place like others have said in their reviews but who cares ?? There are plenty of tables to serve the purpose and the food is great, did I mention the food is freak

If you go there you better go early or they will kick you out, they will ask you if you need to go boxes every 10 minutes. They want you to leave sooner. Im not going there no more. People are very loud in the restaurant not the customers but their stuff.

The place was very hot and no one said anything to us we stood there for 5 min waiting to be seated or told to sit anywhere. I was so pissed it took so long for the portion size of food and lousy service. Definitely never again

If you good like she good authentic Pakistani food, then definitely swing by this joint. Its all about the food here, not really your fancy dinner place. Grill items are the best of all, nihari is always good and not expensive

Great food especially for the price. The Biryani is spiced to perfection, the Nan is fresh, just dip it in your favorite Masala. Nothing to dislike here, although the Pakistani cousin can be a bit oily for some.

It was a fantastic experience except my Naan was too crispy and had a slightly burnt flavor. I asked for a new piece and they happily did that. Definitely coming here more often
