6/10/13 FINALLY! Ive been hearing about this place from my Pittsburg (and other) friends for a long time. So when I was called to do a notary and the lady asked me to meet her here, I happily agreed. Husband and I were starving so we left home and arrived an hour before she was due to be there. Perfect! We were seating right away, but it wasnt long before there was a big line forming in the hostess area. We did noticed a man (manager perhaps?) bring out a quesadilla to a family with little kids. So sweet! It took forever to get our waitress to come take our order, and all she took was drinks. Then she brought them but had to drop other drinks off. THEN she came back and took our food orders. We each ordered two a la carte crunchy tacos (one potato and one carnitas for me). It was forty (yes, 40) minutes before we received our food. We had some great chips while we waited. Our waters were never refilled for the hour we were seated. I spotted some hot sauce that I added to the really watery, mild salsa and that went great with the chips, but I was surprised the salsa wasnt as good as the rest of the food. Husband ate complimentary bean dip but I think he was mostly interested in the cheesy top layer. The hot sauce wasnt bad. When the tacos did come they were terrific. Most notably, the shells were really crunchy and had fresh, amazing flavor! It was a great dinner. BUT.... it took an hour to get two tacos. It was $18.63 for 4 tacos and one soda. And it was all the way out in Pittsburg. When Im back in Pittsburg, Id love to eat here again - but not if its packed.

The food at this place is good. BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. First I called in an order for pick up. She answers the phone and immediately put me on hold. Than forgot about me. After 6 minutes, someone hangs up the phone. Never said anything to see if anyone was on the line, just saw the phone off the hook so they hung it up. REALLY? I was already almost there when I called back. So I place my order as Im pulling up. I decide to go in and have a beer while I wait for my order. I go sit at the counter and NOT ONE person came to see if I wanted anything. So after about 5 minutes, I said screw the beer and went to the register to get my food. Still no one helped me. So I start writing this review and a guy asks me if Im picking up. Im pretty sure it was the same guy that took my order. I give him my name and he goes to get my order, BUT he forgot to put the tag up so he tells me they are making it right now. What is going on with this place? They think theyre so good they dont have to have good customer service? I dont get it. Needless to say, Im pretty upset right now. And for the record, it being Cinco de Mayo at 11:00 at night, they were not very busy. So the lack of is really no excuse.

Ive heard of their place for a while since my husband and I moved to Pittsburg... We finally stopped by for dinner, the place looked welcoming and family oriented... We decided to sit outside since the night was nice, they brought the bean dip and mild salsa... But it seems that they forgot about us after that since they took forever to come and ask for our drinks... When the waitress finally came, we decided for her to take our order at the same time, a "lengua burrito, chicken tostadas and a side of guacamole". Honestly, I was expecting more due to being a popular place... We were disappointed with the food, the guacamole had no taste (it was just smashed avocados) the food was nice in the portions but lack in taste...the price was OK. Our waitress never checked on us if we needed anything else, when we were done we got tired of waiting that we even had to go in and ask for the bill. We already tried it, but not a place we would go back or recommend... There are better and more authentic Mexican restaurants around.

My husband and I went (he for the first time) to the restaurant on a rainy Saturday afternoon in March. We both ordered combo plates. I had the stuffed pepper (chile relleno), 2 chorizo tacos with rice and beans, and my husband had the tamale, enchilada and taco with rice and beans. We were both treated to the fantastic potato and cheese soup first, which could be a main meal in itself, and it was so yummy, but they only serve it on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was excellent, the seasoning perfect. Temperature wise, it could have been a little hotter, only mild complaint. My husband wiped his plate clean and I brought home leftovers to enjoy. The place was packed, but as a party of 2 we were seated within 10 minutes, and our waitress was very busy, but attentive. We will definitely go back, maybe with a larger party, so it may take longer to get seated! The addition to the original restaurant is a good thing! Food is still great.

Evidently, the locals like it as it seem that many came to pick up take out orders. Usually, a good sign. However, while the food was reasonably good, I did not find it to be exceptional enough in flavor to warrant going a second time. To me, if Mexican style cooking is done right there is no need for Salsa, Guacamole, Salt or any other doctoring required to elevate the foods flavor. The best part of the visit was: 1. Sitting outside across the street from the Marina enjoying the moist evening breezes. 2. Carla, our waitress, was very attentive, diligent, caring, kind, and made for a lovely human experience. Thank you Carla! The facility was clean, and easy on the eyes. Two entries, plus beverages about $22.00.

I came here with my wife, shes used to a lot of south bay super spicy Mexican food and wasnt a huge fan of the place, but I thought it was great and even devoured her left over chicken tacos after I was done with my burrito and enchilada combo plate. Service was a bit slow, but it was a Thursday night and busy so it was to be expected, though we were a bit confused by the waitress on if we were supposed to go to the counter and pay or pay at the table. Eventually she took the bill to the counter for us and we met her up there to sign and leave tip...it was weird.

If youre looking for the most delicious Mexican food in the Bay Area, you have to venture over to the New Mecca. Known for catering the As and Giants before their baseball games, the Meccas food does not disappoint. Everything on their menu is amazing. If you order their burritos, be prepared to lift a good five pounds, theyre that big! The food is extremely well-priced and the restaurant faces Pittsburgs waterfront.

Best mexican food in the bay area! Personal fav. Potato tacos! Also the staff is so friendly and always remember us. With their expansion to the lot next door, it is no longer impossible to get a table. They also have outdoor seating, which is nice located across the street from the delta. Go to New Mecca, you will be a fan too!
