After reading the reviews, we decide to try this joint instead of the on in Pismo. We had high expectations & ordered the standard Thai staples --green curry chicken, pad thai, combo appetizers, fried banana w/ice cream & Thai ice tea. The Thai tea was a bit bitter, kinda funky tasting but still relatively good. The combo appetizer consisted of chicken satay, egg rolls, fried toefu triangles, wrapped fried shrimp & fried pot sticker. The chicken satay was good. The egg rolls were good. The wrapper was kinda thick though. The others wer slightly over-fried but still edible. The pad Thai arrived & right away, I could tell the noodles were overcooked. It didnt have a lemon slice so had to ask but no big deal. Green curry chicken arrived & the sauce was really watery. I tasted the sauce & it didnt have a strong taste of coconut like others Ive had. Since the sauce didnt have enough coconut milk to cut the spice, it was more spicy than normal. Lastly the fried plantains & ice cream. Very visuall appetizing, but the ice cream had ice inside it. Still very yummy but just had a bit of ice. The fried plantains were really yummy. The service was excellent. The waitress was really nice & very modest. The male server was pleasant. The restaurant was clean & peaceful. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Food rating is 7 out of 10. Would recommend.

My wife and I ordered a noodle soup called Bar-mee nahm hoping it was some excotic noodle soup but when we got it the soup was rawmin noodles from the Wei-Wei (yellow pack) that I can get at any asian store. For almost 11 bucks a bowl the noodle soup itself was horrible. The broth was horrible. They should have just added the noodle flavor pack that came with the noodles. The soup would have tasted alot better. I could have done a much much better job at home. All they did differently from the rawmin style was added beef and some bean sprouts. Funny. For a restuarant that charges a grip for their food this was not there best. Avoid this dish at all cost. If you were a thai person eating this you would definitely hate it. They need to take this out from their menu because they will loose more customers if they keep serving this rawmin noodle soup dish. Other than that the service was alright.

My wife and I have been frequenting this restaurant for 5-6 years. The quality of the dishes is among the best and most consistent of ANY of the restaurants we frequent in the area. Probably THE best Thai restaurant we know (were from the Bay Area). Not everyone loves Thai food. If you do......you owe it to yourself a visit. If youre not familiar or not sure if you like Thai food......take a chance. Another this we love about this restaurant is the ambiance - peaceful! If you want to eat in peace......go there. The ONLY issue weve ever had at this restaurant is spotty service. In the past it was it or miss, but in recent visits its been very good/excellent. Bottom line though.....great food!

I have eaten at Thai restaurants all over the US, Thai Talay is by far the worst Thai food I have ever experienced. Thai Talay didnt even have a primary ingredient (Thai Chilis) to properly prepare Thai food. I asked for prik nam pla, they brought jalapenos in fish sauce, I asked for Thai chilis, the servers said they are too far from Los Angeles to get the Thai chilis. Heres a good gauge for Thai, if youre not greeted by a Thai, and there are no Thais in the restaurant eating, turn around and walk out. My wife, who is a Thai native indicated that we should have followed our instincts and just walked out when we were unable to get a basic Thai condiment.

We went there with our two kids. Service was ok and one dish (today special Lamb) was good. But rest of the food was below average. Chicken fried rice, chicken was smelly , minced chicken got too much soy sauce. Veg fried rice only got vegetables! They didnt even bother to tell that kitchen was closing and without asking for dessert she just bought bill! We tipped good but dont think we will come back. Looks like area has lot of Thai restaurants, I would look some where else. It was expensive for the food with and service.

My first time going to Thai Talay and I was disappointed. I order the fried rice shrimp fried rice the rice was very mushy it had too much fish sauce the shrimp was very soft. Fried rice should not be mushy nor should the shrimp. The waiter was very kind and offer me other options so I ordered the chicken curry. The chicken curry takes a nothing but like coconut milk no curry flavor whatsoever. I think this restaurant taylors it food towards the elderly as it has a very bland in taste no spices.

Stopped by today on our way to LA from SFO. After settling down, waited for 25 mins before someone came and asked for drink order. Waited another 20 minutes for water and drinks, then gave up and walked out. Sitting in a restaurant without even water for 45 minutes is pathetic :( One more couple was about to leave without even having water after 30+ minutes when we left. Ended up eating In-n-out couple of exits south. Horrible service!! I would rather try Thai Dheva about a mile away...

Nice looking restaurant, but bland Thai food. I ordered the basil fried rice, which I have had at other Thai restaurants. It had no basil, for one, and no real spice either. Very bland. My moms red curry was mostly coconut milk with a bit of spice, but lacked that special combination of complex flavors you find at most Thai restaurants. Yhose are thr only two items we tried, so maybe they were having an off night. Bland Thai food just seems wrong!

My first time in Pismo and at Thai Talay, and I was very pleased. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, my grandma had never had Thai food before so she was unsure of what to eat. Theyg gave recommendations according to what she liked and disliked, and she said herself it was better than what she expected. I myself love Thai food, and the Curry was amazing

We have never had poor service or a bad meal at this restaurant. The food has always been up to our expectations whenever we have dined in or on occasion, ordered to go! Service has been friendly and attentive. Well continue to frequent this location.

The service here is horrible! I was seated right away but it took them 20 minutes to serve me water. Even after I closed my menu the waitresses walked by my at least 10times back and fourth and never acknowledged my boyfriend and I. I walked out!

The fresh rolls and Tom Kha (coconut soup) were fresh and delish! The Padh Thai was amazing. Im always super excited to find authentic pad Thai that doesnt use Soy. Very accommodating for my food allergies. Will definitely come again!
