COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED, OVERPRICED FOR THE POOR FOOD QUALITY AND QUANTITY. Am wondering if we had a fill-in kitchen staff when we were there as some reviewers seemed to have much different results than we had. Our problems for our table of 4: - Fried eggs appetizer was truly nasty. Slimy egg halves and mashed yolks (trying to be deviled eggs), absolutely no seasoning and fried in some icky hard green shell that fell off soon as they were touched. Terrible taste, too. - Sweetbreads appetizer: just really awful, nothing more to say, not eaten - Boulliabaisse entree: My order, $32. Came in a tiny bowl with 2 mussels, 2 small tough pieces of lobster (clearly not fresh) and some unidentifiable white fish. Hardly an entree and the sauce was watery. - Steak Frites: my husband and son ordered. My husbands order came lukewarm, french fries were hard and tasteless, really seemed like they had just been heated up from the lunch offerings. - Petrale Sole: lacked seasoning, bland and uninviting. For $30. - Desserts: Profiteroles were OK but tiny. My husbands berry tart was hard as a rock, think it had been sitting in a fridge for days. Not eaten. - Wines: My husband had the most expensive cab and I had the most expensive chardonnay on the list. Very pedestrian, not what you would call fine wine in the wine country! A woman who appeared to be perhaps the restaurant mgr or the owner (?) cruised by our table toward the end and asked how everything was. I told her about the absolutely awful fried egg appetizer...she just smiled and said "thanks for the feedback." And I didnt even tell her about the rest of our meal disappointments. A high class restaurant would have removed the charge for the fried eggs appetizers, but not here, just "thanks for the feedback." Also interesting that the server noticed that the sweetbreads appetizer wasnt eaten, but when he cleared the plate, didnt even bother to ask if there had been a problem with the dish. Typically, I good server will inquire if everything was OK. (Yes, my husband could have spoken up, but we were hosting our 2 guests who were "experiencing" their first time in Napa, and since it was an appetizer, he believed things might look up for the rest of the meal, and we didnt want to create a fuss in front of our guests.) There are so many other nice restaurants to try in Napa, Yountville, St. Helena. My advice, stay away from this one. Our tab, with tip, was well over $400 (!) for a truly poor outcome.

The food was impeccable, otherwise this would be a 1 or 2 star review... The service was the worst I have had in years from what would be considered a high end restaurant, heres a synopsis of everything that was cringe worthy: -Walk into restaurant and we are greeted with "How many are you?" No, hello, no welcoming, just a blunt question, no smile, nothing! -Advise we have a reservation, the host continues the silent treatment, walks to the reservation computer finds our table and we are institutionally escorted to our table, again, no welcome, no greeting, no inquest into anything, just a manual transaction of being shuffled to our seats like school children -It takes uncomfortably long for the busser to arrive with water -Server takes no time to explain menu, or point out highlights, basically the menu is placed on our table and the server walks away -In due time server returns, asks for the order, no offers to answer questions etc, a transactional service that someone with absolutely zero understanding of the menu could undertake -Food arrives, server disappears never to be seen again except when waived down to be reminded our glasses are empty -A question regarding the dessert menu is greeted with a one word response -For the 2nd time, server has to be reminded the table is out of wine and we request if he could find the benevolence to perhaps bring us more... -2 minutes after dessert plates are cleared, while we our still in deep table conversation the bill is placed on our table...no ask if wed like coffee or dessert wine..just a blunt gesture of pay up and get out -Perhaps this should come as a surprise as by about 9pm the entire bar staff started making a raucous as they shut down and cleaned the bar for the night as if sending a message to the patrons it is time to leave, staff wants to go home All in all, it was a disturbing experience. Quite frankly, McDonalds till staff comes across as more inviting than Angeles and they left a disturbing taste in our mouths that unfortunately overwhelmed the great taste of the food.

We sat down and listened to the server describe the specials. it was cool and soup was a logical choice. The soup of the day, which I would normally order was a butternut squash, ok but not special, so we asked about the Onion Soup. The French onion soup was also newly added to the menu, supposedly by customer demand, since it was a french restaurant we ordered that. The cheese was a slice of swiss cheese you would find in a package at the grocery store. The soup was drenched in Rosemary, with no warning. Not a true French Onion soup. The wine list was a crime. We are in Napa with lots of fabulous wine options. They had cheap terrible wines at stupidly high prices. The server messed up on the food order for two of us, although we dont blame her for making a mistake, she was penalized by management and the discount she offered on our check came out of her wages. We are here every year and not only will we never return we will share our experience with everyone.

we went to angele in mid-august. this was the first place that we ate at, after landing in sf and making our way to napa. reservations were made but dont seem to have been necessary (not sure?). the decor was somewhat rustic with a modern twist. their outdoor patio was heated and well spaced. the servers were adequately attentive but we did have to wave them down a couple times for water. i am though, comparing to the amazing service experience i had at coles chop house. in general, the service was above average. i got the guinea fowl dish and my companion ordered the new york striploin with braised short rib and bone marrow dusting. the. the guinea fowl was moist and delicious. the steak was a bit tough but very flavourful. i cant remember if we got wine... i think we did and i believe it was a cabernet. overall, the experience was perfectly relaxing after a long trip in and well exceeded my expectations.

My wife and daughter were at a Gilmore Girls event there yesterday, and afterwards they were hungry, having skipped lunch. So we went there at 330 and were ready to eat. Asked for a table and the blonde haired lady at check-in said the kitchen was closed. Funny, I looked at the tables, which were two thirds full. The menu online indicated that lunch is served until 5pm. I would like to hope that she was telling me the truth. Management, if you read this review, your input would be most helpful. I hope there isnt unauthorized selective seating involved. I was wearing a black Fantastic Four t-shirt (but I did bring my jacket, in case a coat was needed, even though I saw others in shorts and t-shirts), and I am a brown skinned Filipino... nah, that couldnt be it! Well, end of story (I promise), we took our business down the street and had some fantastic pizza!
