Ive been going to Beta Lounge since they opened back in 2009. I usually go for the beer, and they have a great beer selection there. Their food is also really good, and much better than your standard bar food. One of the things I really like about going here is that its usually not too loud, and you dont get as many rowdy folks that some of the other bars in the area get since the quality of the alcohol is higher (which does mean that its a little more expensive). Definitely my favorite watering hole in Berkeley!

A date suggested we meet at Beta Lounge it was her second time there and it was my first time there. The staff is extremely congenial and attentive, the atmosphere is subdued and intoxicating. We got lost in time we were having such a wonderful evening. I would hate to give them a bad name but this is a friendly LGBTQ friendly business establishment without being "rage-LGBTQ friendly" in your face. As a trans-woman of color I was pleasantly surprised to find such a place in the East Bay.

Beta Lounge is a fantastic spot in Berkeley to have a great beer from several rotating taps, from their large selection bottled brews, a nice wine selection, sake, soju drinks and a full bar. They have a wonderful selection of bites from their kitchen as well which we love to indulge upon especially for happy hour prices. All this and a staff of great bartenders and support staff makes this our "go-to" hang out. ...UPDATE...Years later and still love this joint! CHEERS!!!

We had a birthday party there, and they let us reserve all of the couches. They were incredibly kind, and extremely patient, with a lot of people coming in and out all evening. They constantly returned to see what we needed. Their wine selection is fantastic (and only 5 dollars during happy hour from 5-9!), and so is the beer and safe (esp the Nogari) selection.

I almost dont want to post this because Im worried people might start going here! This is probably my most frequently visited bar in Berkeley: I end up here about once a week. Its usually quiet, they have a good beer selection, make good cocktails, and their food is surprisingly good.

You go to Beta because the environment is great. The drink menu is good, and the food menu is ok when buzzed, fantastic when drunk. Its a classic Berkeley Bar where all the regulars go to get schwifty.
