My partner and I booked a room at the Village Inn in Monte Rio for our 4 year anniversary. Shortly after I had booked the room I began to read some of the reviews and started to fret about what we had decided... However all of my reservations were quickly put to rest upon our arrival at the hotel. Thus leading me to believe all of the reviews had been written by San Francisco "hoity-toity yuppies" (this hotel is not for you). My first testimonial is that we wanted our anniversary to be special, however we could not afford much; so I called the hotel and explained our situation to the receptionist and he gave us the King Deluxe Room with a private balcony and river views (the best room in our opinion) for a much reduced rate; from $205/night to $130/night!! The Inn is a very old historic building, thus there is some slight wear and tear; this in my opinion added some charm to the experience. There are several different terraces all with comfortable sitting areas; including a fabulous porch overlooking the river where we sat both evenings with drinks and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. One night we had a wonderfully delicious dinner while watching the sunset and enjoying the warm spring evening (a must if you choose to stay). The grounds are beautifully landscaped including a large lawn and gazebo. The people there are all wonderfully sweet (except on waitress was a bit rude, but it was not enough to ruin our evening). They gladly allow dogs, which was perfect for us! Our only complaint: we wish wish wish they had a dock or some sort of river access! I would definitely recommend this cute little place to a friend and we surly intend on visiting again!!

I and my husband had a GREAT experience here. We love Napa Valley and thought that this time we would try something a bit different. This is a sweet place in a beautiful location, Its an INN with history, its quaint, comfortable, relaxing and quiet. If you tend to favor chain hotels then this place is not for you. I think its more for someone who is somewhat adventurous and doesnt strain to look for all the negativity upon arrival. I found Judy to be a gracious host as well as Chris. Judys history with the area and The Village Inn is really interesting. The patio seating that overlooks the Russian River is beautiful, people drinking wine and having a bite to eat at the end of the day. The menu is ambitious, creative and absolutely delicious, we had an amazing baked Brie plate with crostini, olive tapenade. Entrees were amazing as well as the salads. Desert was a beautiful lemon tiramisu and cream brûlée. Local wines from and around Sonoma County are offered, There also is a continental breakfast, loved the granola, fresh fruit, biscotti and coffee.I found the room to be clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this place.

Walked into the restaurant, there was no hostess. We continued into the dining area when the barkeep intrusively asked if we needed help. I responded, yes wed like to get a bite to eat. She said I can seat you..then she said theres a patio and dining area, you can seat yourselves and handed us menus. 40 minutes later, we are still on the patio with not even a drop-of water. No one has helped us at all. Keep in mind, there is 1 person at the bar, 1 couple eating nachos inside and an additional couple that has arrived in the last 30 minutes. I rate the service below poor. I have never been literally ignored when I have attempted to give a restaurant my business. And business isnt booming here at the Village Inn restaurant! Very poor service, very disappointed, will not recommend to anyone.

The room was nice enough , even though the bathroom is extremely small, but the management was exceptionally rude. We literally never got a smile or a welcome or a good morning out of anybody in this facility. We felt completely unwelcome even though we spent big bucks on a holiday weekend.what was called "breakfast" was quite pitiful. Must be better places around in this. Do some research

The Inn and the rooms are nice enough, but the person who is in charge, not sure if shes the owner or the manager, is rude beyond measure. We literally never got a welcome, a good morning or good evening, or even a smile out of this person. She definitely needs to consider a career change. Breakfast is pitiful. Classier not to serve. Liked the inn, the management was a fat ZERO.

Long time Monte Rio fan (came for many summers as a teen) and now a Village Inn fan! My guy and I stayed in a most awesome suite on the river-beautiful view and lots of wildlife sitings. The food at the restaurant is fabulous. The chef is creative and her food rivals any. I will be back soon and cant wait to eat there as well. Mark is a most gracious host and very sweet.

Beautiful location. Room was pretty nice but was missing a blind in the window so couldnt keep the light out in the morning.

Nice view of the Russian River. Booked this place because of location, close to where they hold the Monte Rio triathlon.

Didnt eat here but the inn was comfy in tranquil forest-like setting on the river. Breakfast was fairly basic.
