Funny, I see someone else posted a review about becoming sick after eating here on 6/1/2016- I think I might know why. This place is unsanitary. Their food is contaminated. So today, 6/11/2016, I went in to get a few cupcakes. The cupcakes and cookies are keep in a lower shelf behind a glass counter, however the glass counter has several slightly open seams running up and down the glass. The glass counter where the food is kept is NOT air tight. So I see a 3 year old Burberry clad child licking, blowing air and splitting as hard as possible directly into the open seams of the glass counter for several minutes. She was doing this directly into the seams only inches away from the cupcakes/cookies. She was blowing with all her might like one does when blowing a ballon. The child left a trail of spit and drool all over the glass. Of course, the two adult men with this child did not even notice, let alone look down once from their conversation to supervise the child. Well, the reality of Manhattan Beach is that not everyone vaccinates their children. Some other illnesses are airborne (like hand, foot and mouth disease). I was seriously concerned about contamination so I told a nearby employee. Several minutes later, the "assistant manager" approaches me. She interrupts as I am telling her about the unsanitary situation and tells me that, "unfortunately, I cannot say anything to the child". I responded by saying, "of course not, but you can speak with the adults with the child". By that time, the men and the children were gone, and I asked her to please throw away the food that was in the area where the child was spitting and blowing. You could see the area- it was filthy with drool. She asked me to wait and said she would speak to her manager. She then came out and told me that the counter was air-tight. I refuted this by showing her the seams. I could put part of my finger through the seams and see into the other side of the glass counter. Then she tried to deny it and said that since it is refrigerated, the air pushes everything out. Well, the cupcakes that come from the counter are not that cold- air is not blowing on them, and Im sorry, but if someone is blowing bubbles and air into the seems, it is going to get onto the food, even if air blows back against it. Then the assistant manager looks at me and says, "theres not much we can do, we are child friendly here". This is not about disciplining a 3 year old, it is about fixing an unsanitary situation. Either get an air tight counter or watch the customers so that the food you serve isnt contaminated. Apparently at Susie Cakes, being "child friendly" comes before public health. Funny thing is that mid-way into the disucssion, an entitled, white Manhattan Beach house wife came in with her own child. She put her hands on me and pushed me, saying, "could you move, my kid wants to see the cupcakes". She had no idea about the spitting blowing child, but when she heard me complain, she said, "I hope you never have kids". Great example she is setting for her kid, pushing strangers out of the way and insulting people. Maybe her kid will be the next Brock Turner. Little did she know I was trying to make sure that people like her and her child didnt become ill. So I guess these foul people are the type that Susie Cakes caters to. People who will berate a total stranger who was concerned about food safety. The manager did apologize and she gave me free cupcakes, but I threw them away. I wont risk my health. Notably, I did not see anyone discard the contaminated cookies/cupcakes. The person who left a review on 6/1/2016 threw up after eating here- I think what I saw today might explain why.

Bought a mini vanilla buttercream cake for $36 for my girlfriends birthday and neither of us liked it. It was dry and overly sweet and sugar tasting. You can buy a better cake at the grocery store for a lot less. To be fair, I should try their other cakes, but this reviewer would strongly suggest you stay away from the vanilla buttercream. One day later, the bakery called me and asked me how I liked the cake, and if we enjoyed our celebration... I admitted we didnt care for the cake, but had a great day anyway. The girl from SusieCakes was not completely surprised after I told her that it was too sweet and she said the cake has a big following among its fans. She offered me a gift card which she said shed send in the mail so that we could come in and try other cakes. The only thing they could have done is talked me through that when I was ordering the cake or offered to let me try it and see if I liked it before I ordered the buttercream cake to begin with. So now well have to wait and see if the gift card comes, how their other treats are.

Someone brought the cupcakes to work: the mint with chocolate cupcake was delicious. Someone minty frosy on delicate lightly sweetened chocolate cupcake. the frosting on the yellow cupcake tasted like lemon merginue but it was indeed a "frosting" not jelly like merigue. Then there is a pink frosting that had the taste of strawberry. All and all these taste like gourmet cupcakes. Normally Im not crazy about cupcakes because their so sweet and the cake is not that soft but here the frosting has the lightness of whipped egg whites and the cake is incredily moist and not too sweet.

Hands down a fantastic choice for your special event. I was visiting from out of town for special family birthday. I ordered the 9" Red Velvet and was so pleased with the choice! Pick up was effortless, the shop is adorable (bonus points for the convenience of offering decorative party wares as well). And the cake...OMG...rave reviews from all the guests. Thank you!!

I have been to almost every cupcake shop within 30 miles of the South Bay, and frequently drove up to Sprinkles in Beverly Hills to get their cupcakes. Susiecakes surpasses Sprinkles by far. Their selection is great, and the taste is perfect. The filled cupcakes are beyond amazing. I love the lemon and strawberry flavors the best!

Ordered a cake Monday for Wednesday pick up. Called Wednesday to see if it was ready, and they told me the order had been voided (with no reason why). Asked if I could then have the cake made for the next day, and they said they were unable to do so. Took no ownership of the mistake and were unwilling to help resolve the issue.

Nestled in a shopping plaza next to a wine shop. I came here to order a birthday cake, and man, the cakes here are tiny. The fact that the cakes are small is easily forgotten once you taste how amazing, sweet, and moist their cakes are. I would urge people to order their red velvet cake if youre nearby.

My husband and I are so happy to have such a great cupcake shop open near our house in El Segundo. Service is always with a smile and the cupcakes are delicious. Love the extra bite of frosting in the center. Coconut is my personal favorite and Im not even much of a coconut fan in general.

I really enjoy their personal sized season pies. Great way to start the day when you have decided to have a cheat day from healthy eating. Not to say that the pies are unhealthy but I think that we all know that pastries, cookies and cakes are a treat and not a daily requirement.
