"Jane" the person I spoke to whom refused to listen to feedback on the 3 Pumpkin Pies that we had purchased for a 55-60 person pre-Thanksgiving party the night previous to the call. Attitude was immediately shown after learning that the call was to inquire about what we could do about 2 completely untouched Pumpkin Pies that had gotten horrific reviews from the guests. I mean we didnt even say what we wanted to do yet with the situation and she was telling my wife and I how their pies are the best, and everyone loves it. REFUSING to listen to anything, she proceeds to tell us how she is ending the conversation. Is that customer service? I mean I dont know how this person if a worker, can survive working in a people facing job, and if the owner how she can run a "successful" bakery. Everyone that goes here and gives anything but a 1 star rating must have pretty low standards. I wouldnt recommend anyone come here for anything. Not only the taste was CRAP, its pretty expensive too. I will be going into the bakery today and will not refuse no for an answer now that "Jane" wants to play hard ball. Sweet Lady my @SS The BBC will also be receiving a letter.

When a friend told me that this place was open until 11pm on a week night, I thought, "who gets sweets this late in LA?!" So we went around 10:30pm after dinner, and were lucky to get an open table! For a first-timer, I wasnt sure what to do -- where do I order? do I pay now or later? is there waiter service? Heres what I learned: You order at the counter and grab a table (if there is one). A waiter will bring your order to your table. When you are done, you pay at the register. Lots to choose from here, and Im not a big sweets eater. I chose a Lemon Bar, which is quite small compared to some of the other options. One friend (who had been here before) got a slice of their Berry Cake, another friend got a slice of Apple Pie -- both were HUGE!! Some of the items were sold out, so the later you go, the less choices may be available. I also ordered a coffee, which they serve at the table in a coffee press. While we were eating, another customer came in to pickup a custom-order cake. It was beautiful, like a work of art. The quality here is first-rate!! Parking on Melrose is always an issue, but the later you go, the more spaces are available.

Really disappointing customer service experience yesterday. I was there as were 2 other customers, we were all looking in the cases at their goodies. I was last in line to be waited on the other customers were there first, there is nothing about that I dont understand, and as a bartender I am probably the most patient customer. The others in line werent ready to order and I wasnt either. So I tool and opportunity to attempt and ask my question about their baked goods. I signaled for the red head behind the counter because she had her back to us. Without any verbal communication between us she stuck her finger up at me signaling me to wait and asked all of the other customers who was next. She assumed I was trying to cut the line. Instead of comunicating with me she stuck her finger in my face and they lost business over it. I am so dissapointed, I work nearby in a restaurant and if I EVER give that kind of service to someone my job would be at risk. Its unfortunate I work so close but I will not go back to this place again.

The snoddiest, rudest, and most stuck up guy works there. I went to get a coffee and was met with a small wait, but thats not the part..I went to give my order, guy interrupts me and with the snarkiest voice that cut me down said, "Ill be right with you." Gave me side eye,and treated me like a peasant. Sorry, your highness that Im just ordering a coffee. Its too bad because the other guy in the back was cheerful and said hi..he had dreads and the perfect smile...sweet lady Jane..put him in the front. I said OK..then just walked out..crossed the street and without my caffeine, had to give one star. Wish I could give zero for the rudeness. How rude lady Jane, change your name to Grumpy Nasty Jane

I am a firm believer in the merits of bar food not bar food, food made into bars and no one executes a solid square like Claire squares. At the Los Angeles Corina Street Fair I was swayed by Claires crispy sweet samples and went home with two packages of Claire squares Minis tiny bar food.At an event I attended last week, Claire won a much-deserved award for the treats her mother taught her to make, and also gave food to the event so we all go to try some more squares.Irma have to cruise into Bi-Rite to pick up some before Hardly Strictly tomorrow. How could I resist indulging in some great outdoor bar food?

AWFUL SERVICE! Wanted to order a red velvet cake with vanilla frosting instead of cream cheese, and the attendant was rude and adamant that "Jane doesnt allow changes to her recipes." What an obnoxious diva. Well, excuse me! I dont think changing a frosting flavor for a place that advertises "custom cakes" is that big of a deal. Not only was it pretentious, but he was rude about it as well. Thats in addition to their historically "overpriced for what you get" tradition. Used to go here for various items, but no more. SHOP ELSEWHERE!

The popular cake that people order to celebrate ANYTHING is their TRIPLE BERRY. Its heavenly goodness - soft cake, super light in sweetness and frosting is whipped creamy and light. I appreciate that their cake is not super sweet because Im sensitive to that. Other than cake and pastries, they serve REAL food during lunch hours. And I have to say the best sandwich to get is their CURRY CHICKEN SANDWICH. Its really good and I have to say the best Ive had -- and Ive tried MANY versions of curry chicken sandwich at various places.

I think their baked goods are pretty delicious but every time wed go (we use to go here to get bday cakes and treats when we worked at Napster) the attitude was always flippant. It was super weird. But, I guess if you have enough people coming in then maybe it doesnt matter? I think I went three times and every time was off put by the customer service but went back because the cakes/cupcakes and treats were damn well made and delicious. Once Magnolia opened up though I went elsewhere.

I would steal Sweet Lady Janes triple berry cake from small starving orphans, take it right from their little orphan hands. (I would not, however, pay the ridiculous fees these robber-bakers charge for delivery.) Also worth risking hell for: the pumpkin cheesecake. Let the orphans keep the cappuccino cheesecake and chocolate almond rocha. Both absolutely delicious, but if you cant spare the karma, these represent the skippable half of the cakes Ive tried.

You know, I really wanted to like it. But in the end, the guy at the counter called me bro a dozen times, there were no labels on the cakes, the menu was for catering only and prices arent anything to write home about. I ordered a coconut cake and while it was a huge portion, it was not as amazing as all the hype about this place made me think it would be. The spot is a cute date spot, and a quick stop for a sugar craving, but nothing super special.
