Everything is delicious except the Kimchi which is delicious if you like Kimchi. Its the worlds largest curry house chain with 1400+ locations and one bite explains why. Simple yet full of variety, Coco Ichibanya serves one thing, brown curry. It is delicious, goes with everything & brings everything together. The variety of meats, rice/noodles/bread, vegetables & spice level each completely change the flavor of each dish. In curry, spice means actual spices not capsaicin like in chilies. Spice packs a punch but also adds flavor & complexity. Unlike hot peppers, spice wont number the tongue or increasingly burn hurting you, it will add flavor throughout the meal. I only eat mild salsa but I go a 3 out of 10 on spice with curry here (4 times as spicy as level 1 & 8 times as spicy as regular). No spice is literally omitting several necessary ingredients, like cereal without the milk. A 7 is considered actually tasting the dish but needs to be worked up to. Lots of unique beverages of course like lychee, calpico, watermelon juice & Thai tea

I was stationed in okinawa Japan for 3 years and this place was my favorite food joint in all of Japan. When i heard they opened one here i quickly jumped at the first opportunity to go! Well i went in expecting it to dissapoint honestly because a lot of the times restaurants will dumb down the flavors to appeal more to American tastes. Well... this place is not one of those restaurants! It was exactly the same tastes as in real life Japan! The only thing i found to be any different was the garlic and cheese nan bread, but not by much. The food is just as good as it was in Okinawa. If you are looking for good spicy curry this is the perfect place. If you were stationed on okinawa i guarantee this place will not dissapoint you as it is still almost exactly the same. Well worth the 1 1/2 hour drive for me if i want an authentic Okinawan dish. Highly highly recommend this place!

last time i checked, im pretty sure i phoned in for a vegetable curry to go, not a curry with 3 pieces of small potato, some measly sliced onions, and one piece of green pea to go. no signs of veggies with my curry, thats for sure! i had to make up for the veggies lost in translation with extra pickled daikon to make up for the fiber. how sad is that? i just feel like they charge too much for what it is, to be honest, i can make a ginormous pot of curry at home with the curry cubes from the markets, but that may be my problem, because i always end up making a whole months supply when sometimes i just want one meal of curry... so thats why i resort to coco ichiban. other than that, please stop being so cheap with the ingredients!

Cant compare to Japan (never been), but this place is good. The curry is flavorful and the ingredients are delicious. Thin sliced beef tastes good and beefy, mushrooms and spinach taste fresh. They have a ton of other ingredient options (can get pretty expensive of you add a lot). The spice level can get pretty crazy if you like to suffer. I enjoyed level 2 (has a kick without overpowering the flavor). Portion sizes are decent for a man appetite. Compared to Curry House in Irvine I think I slightly enjoy the flavors here more. Although they dont have the option to have spaghetti instead of rice here. Note: they dont carry any hot sauce here. So if you get a bland spice level youll have to make due with just powdered pepper.

Food was good but worst service of the year. Ice machine was broken, servers unresponsive, out of several drinks on the menu. Had to ask 3 times for water and napkins, 5 times for the check...to be told our check was lost and mixed up and given to another table and paid for, took another 30 mins to leave after eating the food. Check my bank account to see that I was charged 8 different times for the same meal, which set off security alarms at my bank and closed my account for suspicious and fruadulant activity. Apparently one of the most unorganized and under prepared location at diamond jamboree on a labor day Sunday. Overall from the customers perspective and the service a business is suppose to provide... The worst over.

I came back home from Japan for vacation and was ECSTATIC to find that there were Cocos here! I love it in Japan so I decided to try it here. It was definitely a different experience. It is situated in a VERY BUSY shopping center so it took us about 30 minutes to park. The wait time wasnt too bad to be as busy as they were. There is a lot around to explore as well while youre waiting. As for the curry, it was super good! I mean it was a little more spicy than the ones in Japan. They have a lot of options to choose from. The staff was nice. I dont think I have anything negative to say either. A definite must try! And for people who arent big fans of curry this will give you a change of heart! SO GOOD!

First time I tried Coco Ichibanya at the Torrance location and I instantly fall in love with hit. The only decent Japanese curry option before Coco came into the scene was the Curry House. I was never that fond of Curry House because of the price we pay for relative to the quality was way too high. Cocos approach to curry was plain and simple. You choose your size of the rice, then you choose what topping you want, then control the spicy level of curry. They prepared each serving in a separate pot and bring out each dish one by one as well. It must be a policy or something but I have never caught a server carrying two dishes at once. Its simple but Coco does it right. I enjoy this houses curry a lot.

The food here is delicious. When you walk in, youre smacked in the face with that amazing curry aroma. This was my 4th visit. The significant other and myself went on a Saturday. We arrived 10 minutes after they opened and they were already crowded. So, I would suggest getting there early. Although the service this most recent time was the best (with people actually refilling or drinks and asking if we needed anything) I didnt enjoy getting rushed out and having my plate taken away before I had finished eating. I get it, you have people waiting, but I wasnt done with my food. So for this reason I only gave four stars.

When I first found out there was a CoCos in Torrence (up by LA) I was excited. Grabbed a bunch of my Peeps from my time in Japan and we all went. It was AMAZING!! Everything just like you would remember from being in either Iwakuni or Oki. Had to get some to take home!! I just recently found out about this one in Irvine... Im telling everyone!! Had the best Valentines day yesterday when my Hubby stopped in on his way back to me from Big Bear and picked up some CoCos for Valentines Dinner. BEST VALENTINES SURPRISE EVER!!! I love my Hubby, and I LOVE CoCos!!!!

The service sucks!!! This is the fourth time in a row that they have forgotten to take our order. Had to sit 15 minutes before they realized they forgot to bring the waters they offered and to take my food order. Its bad when the couple who sat down right before you finishes their food and walks out the door when you barely put your order in. To top it off, I had to flag someone down to be able to put my order in, and she looked bothered as she rolled her eyes while repeating the order. Do yourself a favor and go to the one in Torrance! Its worth the drive.
