*** NO SE HABLA Español *** A group of 4 of us conducted a social experiment where we visited bars as non-English speaking patrons. Imagine yourself, having a full blown conversation in a language other than English, in a predominant white neighborhood, with a great deal of tourist. Ordering beer, finding out the happy hour specials, ordering food, all in a language other than English. What would you expect? well, heres our experience review of the bar PERQS! >it gets a TWO Star review ** All 4 of us sat at the bar area, after pointing that we wanted 2 "blue moons" and asking for 2 "whisky con Coca-cola" our bartender took our order and walked away, only coming to our section if she needed to grab something but not necessarily to acknowledge that we were there or if we needed something. After waiting a while for her to come back to our area, we called out to her and asked about happy hour specials "los especiales" she straight out did not even tried to make a bit of effort, to even try to understand what we were saying. In a loud tone of voice looking at each one of us with her hands wide open and up in the air she said "Somebody translate". Immediately alienated us from the rest of the bar, needed less to say at time she lost her tip. The guy sitting next to me said to her she wants to know the specials; she said okay, so she said them and walked away. This white, blue eye older gentlemen was more willing to interact with us than the bar tender. I would not recommend this place if you did not brought somebody with you that at least spoke some English. The reason Im giving this bar two stars, is because the price of drinks are good. $15 dollars for 4 drinks pretty darn good. But damn talk about alienating people.

If I could give it less than 1 start I would but I cant go any lower. This place is the absolute worst bar in Huntington Beach! And, Tim (the so called bartender) is doing a fantastic job securing them in that ranking! I specifically left a zero dollar tip due to terrible service and the fact that he called me a few names that were uncalled for. I log into my bank account a couple days later and see that he added a tip when I specifically didnt. Beware of this place! This is the last place in Huntington Beach you should visit!

Great place to take a group. Theres extra seating upstairs and another bar downstairs with more seating! Also a cool fountain downstairs! Everything is tiki/sea themed. Great atmosphere for just chilling. Also scorpion bowl is great for sharing! For mixed drink it tastes pretty good. Its pretty sweet.Theres another bowl version that is a bit stronger and less sweet. The waiter described it as the more "adult" version of the scorpion bowl.

Sat. night 2-2-2013 couldnt get in as the young doorman seemed to be discriminating against us 50 and above folks. Told us there was a $20 a head charge for us while letting the young hardly dressed ones in free. Left a sour taste in my mind. Lawsuit time maybe around the corner.

The only place Im paying a cover charge to come in. I love MJQ! I love that I walk down a slope to enter into the lair of this club.The different graffiti art work on the wall is fun. Really strong drinks are a plus. Music is always on 10. The people are a ton of fun!.

Old school dive (type) bar with live music and typically good people. Since Golden Bears closing in 86, Perqs is now the oldest bat in HB. Its on Main St less than a block from the beach/pier and has live music so not a bad start.

Nice place, cool customers and wide variety of beers. All of that in a rich historical atmosphere. Service is friendly. If you dont drink alcohols, you still can have a soft drink and still welcomed there.

Found a fly in the beer . Its probably in their tap or something. No lie I put in on my mama. I asked for an extra beer and they said no because it was our fault for not finding it. Whack!!
