If youre here, your in the thick of it as far as good Korean BBQ. Surrounded on all sides for miles with some of the best Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Thai and Japanese food this place stands out. The more popular and more famous Cham Sut Gol is just down the road from here and though its been around longer it is overall appeal to me is fading. Both upper tier and the best in their own respects I have to give it to Mo Ran in that their brisket is gossamer thin and cooks super fast, and the rest of their meats are well balanced in marinade. Some places load on the MSG or overdo the sauces, but here its a clean bright flavoring. I actually use the brisket dipping sauce, hot sauce and the sesame sauce for everything because its that good. Chunks of garlic is what I like to see. The hotsauce I found to me mild. Once again super thin daikon and the banchi(appetizers/sides) were quite unique. A sweet and creamy potato salad, marinated smelt (tastes like fish jerky). I wish the kim chi had more depth of flavor, seemed superficial and the pieces were huge. You dont seem to be overwhelmed here. I usually go AYCE, but didnt want to overdo it like usual. Our waiter did most of the cooking for us, which is unusual as we prefer to do it ourselves because we like to eat the meats in a particular order. We actually liked it this way for a smaller group. Usually AYCE KBBQ we roll 10-20, but for 4 its much less hectic and ravenous, less gorging. The tongs were a little on the weak and inaccurate side. 2 pieces of mushroom 1 asparagus and1 slice of onion was all we got with our 3 person special. Well-cooked sticky rice I can tell it was well cleaned due to the minimal residue on the bowl. The overhead hoods are pretty quiet here versus most places. The only real con and this is true with all KBBQs is the cleaning of the table. You end up with so much grease residue from the meat and sauce that simply wiping with a cleaning rag doesnt suffice, a heavy duty degreaser is needed. They do a loyalty card, after 4 BBQ visits you get 20% off the 5th and after 9 you get 30% off the 10th visit. Standalone building with not enough parking on a busy night I can see people crossing GG Blvd to ge here. Cham Sut Gol has a great set up, good service most of the time, long lines and waits, but the product is very good. Mo ran Gak puts out a comparable product with none of the cons, so it me its a leg up on them.

-Dinner Review- Not AYCE, but still the bomb! Look for the corner restaurant in their own lot with a good size white light frame around the sign Morangak Restaurant at night. The parking is hell (small lot, free, or street), but youre good after you get a spot to park. Morangak take reservation, so do call if you have a large party since most of the seatings inside are for party of four or less. They only have two large tables (2 grill on each table) available, so call call call! They have individual meat dishes available, but I went for the combination. You get a bit of everything for the best value. They have the traditional meats combo that are non-marinated, but they dont include the fish or shrimp. The menu have set meals for party of 2, 3, or 4. Expect to pay on an average of $25 a person minus the alcohol. The service is impeccable here. Why? They constantly check on you since they are the ones cooking the meat. The only thing my hands are doing is picking up my chopstick and enjoying my bbq meats, yum! The staff here all speaks a bit of English, so no fret. The meal itself was really as good as it gets. The salad was perfectly tossed with quality veggies. The starter beef broth was warming, soup! The sides were great and plentiful. As for the meats itself, you can really see the quality here (non frozen). I am truly impressed with Morangak and cant wait to take my friends there for another night of meat binging!

Great place for Korean BBQ and Korean food! My friend recommended that I check this place out in the OC and I was please with my experience. FOOD: *Bachan - Very good! Good variety and good quality. *Bibimbap (Mixed rice in a stone pot) - Delicious! I love the taste of the slightly burnt rice with vegetables and beef. *Galbi (BBQ beef short ribs) - Good, but not the best Ive had. *Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles) - Tried this for the first time and I really liked it! I love the flavor and the spiciness of the noodles. Great choice on a warm day. *Haemul Pajeon (Seafood Pancake) - The best seafood pancake Ive ever had! You have to try it! The pancake is big and its perfectly cooked so the outside is crispy. You can taste the crab meat and pieces of squid thats mixed into the pancake. Big portions too! PARKING: Small lot, but plenty of spots in the residential area Overall, this place has good service, tasty food and good prices. I would come back if Im craving Korean food in the OC.

We dined here last night and it was fantastic! We shared a meat combo to grill. It came with 2 meats (brisket, pork belly OR marinated prime short rib), steamed egg, tofu soup, salad, and about 8 different side dishes that included rice paper and sliced daikon. While waiting for our meats to arrive, we sipped on a warm beef soup that comes in a silver kettle. I liked it. The meats brought out were excellent. You could tell from the color and marble that its high quality stuff. The brisket was delicious and the short ribs were juicy and very tender. Service was good, however, we felt a tad rushed. Especially because they kept putting more meats on the grill when we werent really ready for more. We knew they were trying to flip tables since there were a ton of people waiting out front. They also dropped the bill before we were done and even forgot our tofu soup. All the servers were really friendly and food was delicious. Definitely a top favorite in the OC.

Morangak is a solid Korean restaurant that stick to basic korean dishes but they deliver them well. One of the highlight of Morangak is nengmyun or cold noodle. Cold Noodle is one of the most beloved dish for summer in Korea, and yet, not many restaurant here in the US made it well. Morangak probably does nengmyun better than any other restaurants in OC, or even compare to those restaurants in Ktown. Morangak is also one of the few places where they serve beef broth for customers to enjoy at every table. Beef broth makes this place that much more authentic. I also enjoyed their galbi tang, or short rib soup here. No shortcuts, just fresh ingredients and good execution. I wish there are more korean establishment like Morangak around OC.
