My family and I moved to the Bay Area from the East Coast early last year for my husbands job; Tai Wu was one of the first places we ate at, because it was so close to where we stayed for the first month. We love it; we had no idea Chinese food could be so good. Not only was it delicious, there was LOTS OF IT to take home, and the prices were great. All the dire warnings about this areas restaurants being obscenely expensive have proven false, starting here and moving on to other fabulous places in the area. Weve been regular customers since March of 2011, and will continue to be. They always make us feel very welcome. For instance, on a recent visit my littlest son was struggling with his chopsticks, and one of the wait staff brought him some tofu to practice on, and gave him some great pointers. When we place a takeout order, they ask us to sit down while we wait, and they serve us tea on the house. We *love* the warm welcome we get here, as well as the delicious food and fast service. If you want snobby ambience, go somewhere else; if you want to eat fast and really well, go here.

This is a pretty traditional Chinese cuisine eatery with lot of dishes around noodles, rices, just pretty much everything you expect from a Chinese restaurant. Food quality here is slightly above average. Base solely on food I would probably give this place 3 stars. However, what this place did it for me is its value. For the amount of money they charge per dish, they give you a lot of food. Overall its the type of places that you would call it no-frills - quick service, ok to good quality of food, and great value for the price. Its also in a Ranch 99 plaza so its convenient if you can also bundle the trip with shopping as well as grabbing a cup of coffee/drink from the Starbucks next door. The rumor is also that if you frequent the restaurant, you might also be able to request them to make you a dish from what you just bought from the market, with a price that youd have to pay of course, but a pretty convenient option if you ask me.

I really love this place. Most things Ive tried have been exceedingly well-made. The pork fried rice is amazing; better than what Ive gotten at high-rated Hibachi joints. The fried tofu with black bean sauce is my personal favorite, and the duck dishes are also excellent. The kids love the spicy garlic chicken and mongolian beef. Tea is served on the house and is perfect unsweetened. The waiters have been kind and have even brought out "practice tofu" for the kids to use chopsticks on. And for fun, order a soup or porridge with long noodles and watch as they expertly dish out the portions. The decor practical and sufficient, basically on par with what you get at a typical budget-oriented Chinese restaurant.

Went to the Millbrae location and found the food wonderful. Possibly the best egg roll I have ever had. Could add a few wine options though. But its all about the food and they have nailed it.

Been here a handful of times for a quick, no-frills bite. Noodle soup bowls are ok. Portions reasonable. Service substandard, but conveniently located next to 99 Ranch Market.

Unbelievably large portions (3x normal noodle portion). For only $8.50, they also gave fat juicy wantons and tasty roast duck with perfect crispy skin!

Known for Chow Fun and Won Ton soup. They can combine tables to accommodate a large group. Good handicap access and they have child chairs.

Decent Cantonese food. Huge menu and most dishes range between average-good. Nothing stands out in particular, but nothing is bad.

Tasty, healthy portions, and nice variety. Fried rice and chow fun was a little plain, but not bad.
