This awesome place has been here serving tastey food longer than I have been on earth! Consistent, CLEAN, quality, mmm crab wontons. Ordering in Chinese an Asian friend of mine took me to lunch here, was a hit and it's been a favorite got forever. Five star dining it's not. Quality ingrediants however are everpresent. While other Chinese places dial back on grade of meat, al palace has been consistent

<br/>&lt;br/&gt;I live in a beach city and will drive here no worries for a particular menu item. They heed custom order instructions and accept orders by FAX

First of all, Im a foodie. I have had really great Chinese food, but not in this area. Hell, I have experienced great food, period around the world. Unfortunately, I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken lunch special which comes with a lumpy, tasteless egg roll, one hot mustard packet, and one ketchup packet. Because I guess there are bizarre Orange County Gourmets who enjoy ketchup in their Chinese. How in the hell do you F#$! up an eggroll for Christs sake!? The slop they serve at this unpalatable excuse for a Chinese Restaurant is pure, unadulterated, horse manure. DO NOT try it. In fact, I would say, find a Pick-Up Sticks, which is marginal at best, and you would find it to be gourmet by comparison. Im not being a food snob. There really arent any tasty Chinese joints within this general area. Unless you like Pei Wei, or P.F. Changs, at least you know what you get.

I love Al Palace! This is no gourmet joint. This is not Chin Chins. Dont expect anything but good ole Chinese food like you used to get in the 60s and 70s. Look at the decor! Thats the tip-off right there. This is what to expect: Good old fashioned Chinese Food from way back before anyone even thought of "fusion". Sweet and Sour Pork. Moo Goo Gai Pan. With three you get egg roll. Daily Special Lunch with 5 items. A pot of hot tea without ever asking for it. Ketchup and hot mustard with your fried shrimp. Youll also get the best and fastest service ever. Stay away if youre expecting anything fancy. But if you want Chinese food like your mom or dad grew up with, look no further.

Well....I started eating here in 1985! I ate there about 3 times a week for the next 8 years. By far my favorite dish was the SPECIAL GAI KOW. But the almond chicken was good too. I was a Chinese food junkie back then and tried every chinese restaurant in Orange County. I had to drive 20 miles to get a better almond chicken. But no one could come close to the Special Gai Kow. Ive ordered their Special Gai Kow at least a thousand times. Ask for "spicy, but not too spicy." The spice is hot! I miss you Hester and the rest of the team. I hope you are all doing well. I am in the desert now. You know who I am. Mr. Gai Kow. LOL

This place has the best Chinese lunch in Orange County. Located adjacent to John Wayne Airport at Bristol and Red Hill, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. The meals are quickly made to order and are served hot. Al Palace is a typical busy Chinese restaurant, especially at lunch time. The pace is kind of hectic and you better be seated before noon or you will be waiting outside for a table. This place is also very popular with the Newport Beach crowd. You never know who you might see there. I have been eating at the Palace for 15 years. Never a disappointment.

Good Chinese takeout food with a dining room. The Chicken Chow Mein with soft noodles is by far their best dish. The sweet and sour pork was also good. The egg foo young was disappointing, zero flavor. I wouldnt be surprised if they told me that the gravy was made up of basically water, cornstarch, and brown food coloring. Nevertheless the egg flower soup was excellent with robust flavor. The Family meals are a great way to experience a variety of dishes. Lunch specials until 4pm. Oh ya, and while the wine is cheap quality, they make up for it by filling the wine glass to the top!

Excellent place, run by a great family (husband and wife team). Not super fancy but it feels like home and the Chinese food is SO good - one of my favorite spots in the area. Sometimes you wont be able to get in because so many people love eating here (and for good reason) - but this is uncommon. Most of the time you just walk in and sit down. Prices are around 10 bucks a dish - and serving sizes are big. If you had a family of four I would recommend 2 or 3 entrees with rice and a bowl of Wor Wonton Soup.

The place is very small and casual . My first time there . I read all the wonderful reviews about this place before i decided to head over. Great service very friendly. However the food all had the same flavor or no flavor at all. We ordered Mongolian beef and Kung pao chicken bothe dishes had same flavor could tell the difference between chicken or beef. For it being the firstvtime snd reading all tbe great reviews my expectations were higher. Will not go there again.

There are times when I just want to eat Americanized chow mein. Dont ask me why. Asian Noodle has this teriyaki lo mein and Cathay Newport had this sizzling chicken chow mein before they closed down. And there is Al Palace with good old Americanized chicken chow mein. I get to enjoy egg drop soup, fried shrimps, fried wontons, egg rolls, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mein, fried rice, and omelet like dish with gravy, all for $9 per person. Amazing.

Fast service and very nice waitress. The tea was good and so were the cookies at the end. the issues we had were with the food and prices. The egg rolls and shrimp were deep fried with about an inch of batter, very greasy. The pork spare rib tasted like black licorice and the foil chicken was burned and only came out shredded. The fried rice was also a little too greasy. It was disappointing considering we paid about $50

My wife, daughter and I had the family meal - C. The food was fantastic and alot of food left over, you can tell they used fresh ingredients. The restaurant is not big which invites a nice quiet dinner. The decor is average but while your eating and conversing, you should still feel comfortable. The service was great, very attentive people working there. I would highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back.

I have been searching for good Chinese all over the OC Airport area and so far this one is the winner. The food is above average, slightly salty. The Jasmine tea is very good - I did like the fast service, letting you order while you are waiting for a table, and then delivering the food just as you sit down. Definitely will try again. Would like to see lighter fare, and brown rice as options.

The best time to go is for the Lunch Specials. However the evening portions are take home size. The service is QUICK, and you can get in and out on a budget. Personally I feel this hole in the walls food is under priced. If the digs were fancier then the portions would be half the size and the prices double. Try the War Wonton Soup. I give this 10 chop sticks and an egg roll.
