I could not have asked for a better restaurant than Monkey Cat to host our son’s wedding rehearsal dinner Oct 2. Monkey Cat provides a charming warm environment (comfortable elegance) and great service with delicious and varied food. Jim (the owner) exceeded our expectations in every way. It started with his gracious friendly manner. He made himself very available during planning making wonderful suggestions and was very flexible. We agreed on a set price and then Monkey Cat provided more than we had agreed to. Upon our arrival, Jim greeted like we were old friends then escorted us to the charming outdoor patio open to our private dining room with a private bar. Appetizers and beverages on the patio progressed to a wonderful dinner that accommodated our 16 people at a single nearly square table allowing us to easily visit with everyone. Our waitress was perfect. Her service continued the gracious welcoming. She was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. From the ahi appetizers to the tiramisu and coffee finish, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The dinner progressed on OUR timeline and was a beautiful start to a beautiful event. I recommend Monkey Cat for any occasion.

We were so happy to get a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately the tables were packed so tightly together there was always a waitress bum in our face as they waited on the tables on either side of ours. The food had its high points. The Turkey was amazing, the cranberry sauce and green beans awesome. Sadly the butternut soup was far too sweet and even after sending the fillet back and giving the chef 2 times to cook it as requested, it was still cooked incorrectly. We took it home in a box for the dog and my husband ate mashed potatoes and greenbeans for Thanksgiving dinner. For $32 the chef should cook beef to the customers requested level of doneness. Sigh...we will not be back. One should enjoy a $100 dinner, not be moved to tears at the table over the disappointment.

Monkey Cat is a really nice, upscale place in Auburn to eat dinner. The atmosphere is great. There is wonderful local art always on display (and for sale) on the wall. The food top notch. Definitely the best Rib Eye steak in Auburn (and we have some good ones). Dont believe the crazy reviews of cooking twice and feeding to your dog...Really? If thats how you handle it...youre just nuts and if I was owner...Id say bye....please dont come back, youre crazy. Monkey Cat has been Auburns fine dining location for over a decade. Its not by accident. Enjoy.

my husband and i eat here roughly twice a month . have always had a 5 star experience . he always has some kind of fish, salmon is a favorite, and i always have the crab and lobster bite appetizer as my meal. u get 5 of them for 10 $ and they r so worth it. i used to get the chicken marsala but it was too much food for me. was my favorite and still is if i could have it . great wines and bar drinks, gr8 coffee and desserts . love this restaurant, love the staff....this is a must try....

I found everything to be over sauced and sickeningly sweet in fact I got very sick after the meal that I ate there which was a rack of lamb sorry to say but very overpriced and not very good food presentation with poor beans were over cooked potatoes taste it as though they were frozen or fast frozen add water the ratings are the food

Excellent!!... Try the burger with the garlic blue cheese fries...Trust me. ...... My hubby and I split that with a Monkey Cat salad topped with salmon and it is incredible..For a more date combo, Ive had the seafood linguine and hubs got rib eye entree and both are Deelish!!! Enjoy!! also the ambiance and booths are romantic.

It has a nice location and good ambience but the service and the food certainly do not justify the cost. The food was honestly ho-hum. Its really unfortunate as they seem to have a great reputation that is largely unwarranted. In talking with friends who have been there this seems to be their experience as well.

I ordered the crab cakes, house salad and halibut special. The crab cakes were very good. I enjoy well-dressed salads but this salad had way too much dressing. The halibut wasnt the freshest, was over-cooked and the sauce was imbalanced and sweet. The wait staff was friendly, and I enjoyed my experience.

Ate here for the first time while on vacation. Ordered the steak and it was huge! Cooked perfectly and with the mashed potatoes it was so good. The veggies were green beans and super tiny serving size. They were so good I could have had more and less meat!

We ate here for the first time tonight, August 25, 2016 for our anniversary. It was fabulous! Filet mignon was so tender and cooked perfectly. I had the lemon marscapone cake. Too delicious for words! Ill be back! !

Great place in Auburn! Im usually eating out in Seattle, and this place had comparable dishes and a pretty good atmosphere. Id return when visiting the area. They do need a cider or two on the drink menu though :)
