I was visiting someone in the neighborhood and while walking by was lured in by the ambiance and the cute decor of this place, so we decided to have dinner there. My boyfriend and I were promptly seated by the owner. The waiter was very attentive and seemed to know his wine. We went with his recommendation for both a white and a red and we couldnt be happier (except for when we were actually in France; but who can beat that?!). We started with the French Onion soup which was just perfectly cheesy on top and had a really nice salt balance to it. For the main course, I had the lamb chop and my boyfriend had the coq-au-vin. Both were delicious, tender, and memorable. The desert was equally as delicious. Honestly, I hadnt been so gut-happy for a while!!! To top it all off, when the check arrived, it didnt burn a hole in our pockets (a real surprise for a French restaurant). Id highly recommend this place for anyone whos craving some home-cooked French meal. I cant wait to go and try their back-side patio on a sunny day. Bon Appetit... :)

I have been going here for a long time but I have never stopped to write a review. This place is always busy and worth the wait. The classic sole meuniere is always pleasing , as is the steak frites. And of course the profiteroles. A reminder of past trips to Paris, this is like a good neighborhood cafe, better than some of the pretentious ones on the Blvd. St. Germain! A great place to relax and not be hurried out. You dont have to leave home to eat like you are in Paris on holiday! Wait staff dont intrude and are friendly, heads up you will have to ask for the check...just like in France.

What a wonderful surprise, and how I wish I had found it earlier! This morning I had 2 eggs baked in cream with herbs - and this was the real deal. Not too much cream - herbs beautifully balanced, with a reasonable, not choking, side of fried potatoes also seasoned equisitely. Every mouthful a treat. I cant wait to go back and try some of the dinner entrees. And the prices are extremely reasonable. I havent had such wonderful French food since I was in France. I hope theyll be there forever.

Atmosphere is wonderful and staff is very friendly. Have been eating here regularly for years. Food is usually A+ but sometimes not perfect. For example the steak frites were delicious every time until suddenly the meat dropped in quality and was hard to chew. I stopped ordering it (switched to Poulet Riesling which has been consistently amazing). Last month I risked the steak frites again -- and they were back to the high quality of before. Juicy meat and great fries.

Friendly staff, cute bistro tables on the sidewalk if its nice out, and a good solid soupe à loignon. If theyre not too busy, they dont mind laptop use while you sip your café au lait, and theres a good brunch menu with a good mix of lighter and heavier fare from traditional American (theyll do a waffle and eggs) to French (for your croque monsieur needs). Its a nice unpretentious local place for French food.

Cest ci bon! Live in Southern Alameda County. Happened to be in Albany today. Popped in for a late lunch and ... WOW! Food was delicious: Lean and Hot Pastrami sandwich, yummy crispy fries and delish salad. While food was PURRfect, I was even more impressed by the warm hospitality, friendly and efficient service. Kudos to both Erica and Yeni !! --- BOTH ASSETS to Rendez-Vou Cafe.

Very authentic French bistro food. Classic dishes, well balanced, with the emphasis on taste over presentation. The steak frites for example was a skirt steak, which is the normal cut in France. It was excellent and the frites had brilliant fried herbs. They also have a small, but excellent wine list, with prices that wont make you feel gouged. My new neighborhood favorite.

Another overlooked gem. Not that Liason Bistro is gone this could become your new go-to French restaurant. This is more casual, a great place before or after the movie, nextdoor. Salad Nicoise (See special which includes wine for $17!) and Sole favorites plus French Onion Soup and other highlights in this colorful, quaint cafe on bustling Solano Ave in Albany

The people I was with said it used to be wonderful. Maybe yesterday was an off day, but its hard to mess up Mussels (overcooked, tasteless broth with what looked like a drowned half lemon floating in it) and bunches of scattered croutons on top.) And the rack of lamb was also tasteless...half overcooked and half all but raw. How did they manage that!

In this casual neighborhood bistro, youll find competent versions of all the standards: steak frites, ratatouille, daube, croques, etc. Service is authentic, which is another way of saying its occasionally distracted, but friendly and efficient. Wine list is limited but inexpensive. Tuesday night live hot jazz music is good fun.

Feels like as much of a genuine French bistro experience as one is likely to get in the US. At least partly French staff, and a menu with several authentic items. Wine selection is minimal. Not too expensive, but not exactly cheap either.

Fod is excellent but the service is really bad. They usually forget the drinks, bring the food cold and never takes the plate away. We were a party of 6 and our table was a mess till we left.

Great bistro food with a country French flair. Varied selections for brunch, lunch or dinner. Homey and cozy--a neighborhood favorite. The food is reasonably priced and worth the wait.

Food was good, but it came way too slow on a Saturday evening. There were 8 of us and it took over an hour.
