Phoenix isnt exactly known for its coffee culture but, for those in the know, there are a few really good places to be found. At the same time, the selection isnt anywhere near that of more sophisticated cities like San Francisco or Seattle, so whenever I discover a new coffee shop I get excited that it might be better than what we already have in town. I was pleased with the brand new construction, beautiful furniture and decor, three sections (front entry sitting area, main seating area with tables, and back "lounge"), and windows in three directions (this is really a nice feature for a space, as it makes the atmosphere bright and cheery without lots of glare from one direction). There was nice art on the walls, fresh cut flowers at the counter, and good music with song titles constantly displayed on the Apple TV on the wall. The coffee is excellent. Steve has a roaster in-house and is very good at what he does. He has a set of Melitta pourovers (with the right filters) and a great espresso machine (with naked portafilters, an indicator of someone who knows what hes doing). He showed me his excellent in-house filtration system, so I knew the water would be top notch. My latte was perfect, and came with an awesome little shortbread cookie. Speaking of food, Carylall is an amazing chef and baker, and she makes everything on the menu (including the shortbread). I have loved everything Ive tasted of hers, especially the Mediterranean Tuna sandwich (tuna, cannellini beans, olive oil, vinegar on focaccia with olive tapenade on the side). Finally, there is great wifi and outlets are not too hard to find.

Im a frequent customer. Echo Coffee is my office away from the office. Its the perfect atmosphere for getting some work done and gearing up for the day. Unlike some shops, the music is at just the right level. Its a good mix of music too, akin to XMU on SiriusXM. The staff is friendly and attentive. The quality and consistency of the food is excellent. Im not positive but I think there is one woman who dedicates herself to baking everything in the case. The quiche is amazing and Im not a big quiche person. All the food is presented with nice finishing touches. For instance, I order yogurt with granola at every coffee shop. There is no comparison to Echos. Most shops will give you something you can make for yourself at home... yogurt with store-bought granola and, if you lucky, some frozen fruit. Echos is a standout. They start with plain yogurt and add own special flavor/sweetener. Its topped with amazing house-made granola, then a generous portion of fresh fruit and dried cranberries. Order it. You wont be disappointed. Coffee. If youre ordering drip coffee youre going to get a fresh cup of pour over coffee. If youre unfamiliar with this, it means that after you order your coffee they are going to grind fresh beans. Then put the ground beans in a filter cone and pour hot water over it. Its going to take about 3 minutes, so relax. They will make you the freshest cup of coffee youve ever had.

This is really 3.5 stars, but thats not really an option, so.... I was there all day, so I sampled a few different things on the menu. First I had a CAPPUCCINO that was decent. I had a better one at The Coffee Bean earlier in the week, though. Next I had the PEAR AND WALNUT SALAD. For a place that has a mantra "Fresh. Local. Organic.," this salad was way off the mark. The pears were clearly canned (blech!) and the balsamic dressing was the consistency of BBQ sauce. Im guessing high fructose corn syrup is a main ingredient. :/ Its served over romaine, which is admittedly better than iceberg, but seriously? Where is the spinach, or at least 50/50 blend? The chicken also had an odd taste to it. The salad wasnt gross, it just wasnt that good, especially coming out at $10.50 (chicken is $1.75 add-on). Wouldnt be so harsh if the place didnt have "fresh and local" as a selling point. Finally, I had the DRIP COFFEE, which is definitely worth trying! Its flavorful and each cup is done individually. I also, like other reviewers, felt guilty adding cream. (Its just how I take my coffee, okay?!) The baristas were friendly. The place is A-OK. Caution: Come with your laptop charged if you plan to do work. There are very few outlets.

I am not a coffee shop kinda girl, considering I do not drink coffee. But once I was taken to Echo, I will never go anywhere else! This place is amazing!! You will not find a better made Iced Chai Tea Latte in all of Arizona! Firstly, I am obsessed with their Chai Tea Latte, secondly the atmosphere in this place is spectacular! Comfy chairs, chill music, and even some books to check out while youre there! The staff have always been super nice and timely with my order, their baked goods are homemade and absolutely delicious, and overall its just a lovely place to spend an early morning enjoying your favorite beverage! Definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone who asks about a good coffee shop! Thanks Echo!!

Echo is great. Their coffee is mellow and chocolaty. They have great, fresh pastries, and a light lunch menu thats tasty if youre doing an all day work session. They roast in house, so it always smells terrific. Theyre happy to have people come and stay all day - they always make you feel at home. The staff is terrific. This sometimes makes the place a bit crowded, but its not been a problem. My only criticism would be the lack of outlets for those of use who need to charge our gadgets - but even this hasnt been a real problem. Echo, I think youre awesome. I think your awesome. awesome. awesome.

I have been to Echo a few times and it just depends on who is taking your order.. Some are nice and friendly and some are just not! The first time I went was not a good experience but the coffee was good so I decided to go back a second time. The second time was great very friendly staff and I stayed to get the full experience, but when I looked up at the ceiling I about fainted in my seat. I dont think this place has ever been maintained since its been opened. Otherwise, it really is a nice place and now I just get my coffee to go..

There really is no atmosphere quite like Echo Coffee. As soon as I walked in the door I was enthusiastically greeted by the staff. It took all of 5 seconds to feel welcome and already enjoying the visit. The coffee was incredible (roasted and ground in-house). If you have ever had a coffee shop make your day then you must have been here. I remember the first time I visited it was one year ago, and now its like a daily routine for me, and sometimes twice a day. great place for study, relax, read, ect.. overall the best coffee shop ever.

I happen to be a coffee-lover and a Starbucks hater. I lean toward Dunkin Donuts coffee when forced to choose chain coffee. To my delight, I stumbled upon this place on my way to an appointment in Old Town. I seriously think I would go 30 miles out of my way to get a cup of coffee here. The manual process and organic coffee obviously produces a VERY special cup of coffee. It was the richest, smoothest coffee I have ever tasted. Like a mixture of butter and chocolate :-) Really. I cant wait to get back!!
