Well I went to another place first that I was excited about but it didnt seem to be open so I sat in my car and then tried again but it still wasnt open so I found smoothbrew. They have a parking lot which is nice. I was the only person there when I arrived. I felt slightly intimidated but not as much ad Id expected. Partially I can blame the lack of intimidation on my skilled coffee shop patronage. Heres a tip to help you gain time and the upper hand(unless you get overwhelmed, in which case you just quietly order a small coffee and leave) ask about the pastry selection and act excited, it definitely helps. They told me they have food too, so I ordered a burrito. Unfortunately, I noticed it had the word "chic" in the name so I hoped they wouldnt think I was a wuss. They didnt think twice though luckily, and my order processed without problems. The guy gave me a punch card and then we ended up getting into how Im from north Dakota and then I told them where my sister lives. I said this was my first day in phoenix. But then some other customers came in so we stopped talking. They have fancy light and kind of a subtly elegant decor style. Which is kind of nice for your food/coffee instagrams. The coffee had a strange taste which, hopefully this is not misleading, was vaguely reminiscent of water(but I liked it, I just cant for the life of me think how to describe it). My burrito was pretty proper and it came with a little bowl of tapatio which I bet my transplanted Californian north Dakotan homie josh would be excited about(shout out to josh, still got that iPod). Well this place is nice go here.

Atmosphere: Very eclectic and has your choice of comfy seats/sofa or seats with a table for conversation or work. Very open and even has the convenience of a drive-through. Food: I had a Soy Turkish Latte and the first sip tasted like a delicious seasoned cookie! Haha, but really smooth espresso and if you love cardamom and exotic spices this is perfect. Really comforting latte! Customer Service: The younger ladies who work her were helpful but not very personable. But a man who worked there (I think he was the owner) was very nice and we had a nice conversation. Overall: If I worked in the Phoenix area this would be my go-to place! Super comfy and nice coffee shop.

I really wish I could give a higher rating because I love coffee and small coffee shops and small local businesses. However, I just really really really did not like the Spanish latte... I believe it was the taste of the espresso itself... Its hard to describe but it was kind of burnt tasting? Im not sure, but it was so not good that I took a sip, forced myself to take a second sip, and had to throw the entire cup away. I tried and Im really sorry I did not like it... Because of the lovely customer service though, I will be back to give them one last try, maybe the cold brew, in hopes of better results.

Place is generally quiet. The food is good. Cant say that about many cafes. I had the breakfast burrito. It was grilled like a panini and I am a panini fan. Of note, wall outlets are scarce. Be prepared. Wi-fi took a dive. And was down for an hour before I left before I gave up and left. One of the customers inquired about a half hour in. No change. The staff was kind of loud.. like disruptively loud. I will not be heading back. Which is sad because this was my third visit and I was just offered a loyalty card.

When I was visiting family in PHX from Spain, I stopped in this place a couple of times as I passed. I loved it! The coffee was great, and the pastries were amazing too. I also just read the article about your guys decision to start the coffee shop there and want to say great job! I hope to visit you guys again next time Im in town.

My favorite coffee shop as of yet in the phoenix metro area! The staff is always really nice, its a low key atmosphere, comfortable ambiance, and they rotate the art that they have on the wall from local artists, pretty cool. Oh yea, and they have great coffee, great selection, and a health conscious menu of a decent size.

Their beans are good from a local coffee roaster. Nice selection, such as Turkish latte, Choco Mac Attack (6 shots of espresso!), Etc. Havent tried their food yet, but its certainly a step up in quality from Starbucks good fare, and the coffee is better. Great local business!

I have been to a lot of downtown Phoenix coffee shops not named Starbucks and Smooth Brew is the best! Their iced coffee (Cold brew) and Americano is amazing - no way could I make it at home. My mornings are best after a coffee from Smooth Brew Coffee!

Their coffee is delicious and all the pastries I have tried so far are really wonderful. Their breakfast sandwich and burrito are great too! Service is always excellent and I am so happy this place is close by.

Was disappointed by the turkey gobbler. The turkey and cheese did not taste good at all. There was no sight of anything else that was listed in the sandwich on the menu. Coffee and customer service decent.

Ive been here 3 different times and loved it each time. I like that they have gluten free and vegan options for pastries. The burritos are great! I liked the house burrito best. Their lemonade is divine.

A locally owned gem! This is a wonderful place to grab a cup of joe and relax with a book. The inside is cute, its urban, its phoenix! The Chai is great, the coffees are great. This is a wonderful spot.

Great coffee, yummy pastries. We also love their breakfast burritos. Fun chill atmosphere inside. It has a drivethru also, so it makes it super convenient. Skip the big chains and try this local gem.

Small, quiet, unassuming, mismatched tables and chairs, board games. Perfect for a breakfast meeting or a cool, quiet lunch. And a drive thru! My chai soy latte was very, very good.

My first time checking this place out. I was not impressed with the coffee because it lacked the coffee taste. I like tasting coffee in my coffee drink. The staff was good.
