This is a super hipster joint. They nonchalantly ignore you so you beg for service! lol At least that is my experience but here is the deal. I did not know that it was counter only service. I DID know that they are dog friendly which being a big animal lover with 4 dogs that lives in the neighborhood is a big deal for me. I will throw my hard earned bucks to local establishments like this! I decided to go in today with one of my dogs and tried to get service which at first it was ok. I got a younger gentleman in which I was able to get his attention, then an older guy (Bryan) that I have seen my one other visit there before took over the bar area. Since I know I cannot walk in with my dog I tried to get his attention. Bryan saw me but obviously decided best to not ask me if I need any help or anything at all and talk to some folks (probably regulars) at the bar area and JUST IGNORE ME. I went back to my table upset and disappointed. I wanted to stay and have another drink and even order food but I decided against it. I expressed my feelings to him on the service. I told him it was an opportunity lost on their end. They had my card on hold as I was planning on staying longer and I asked for it back. He did comp me and I was appreciative of the fact- just wish it did not have to come to that. I will give them another try...just hope the owner reads this and knows customer service is EVERYTHING.

I was really excited to try Sip, and was incredibly disappointed in my experience. Their coffee was fine, the service was what sorely lacked. The woman behind the counter didnt know a lot about the food they were serving, and didnt put forth much effort to find out either. Once my girlfriend and I had ordered our food, we sat on the patio, which is really beautiful. We waited a pretty long time for our food to arrive. The server just dropped the plates on to the table without a word. We didnt have silverware, and when we went up to ask for it, the person behind the bar was not very friendly. I had a burrito, which we were told are made off premises. It seemed like it had been heated up in a microwave, which is fine if it was two dollars, but it wasnt, so I was pretty disappointed. My girlfriend had the pancakes, which tasted fine, but were nothing special. The lack of service was really appalling, the food was alright, but especially for a new business, good service is very important.

Coffee is a bit acidic and bitter, but not horrible; however, the coffee is *incredibly* expensive - Sip large is 4-6 ounces less than SBUX and it costs $2 more. Starbucks is expensive, this place is ridonculous. Atmosphere *is* much better than SBUX, which is why it gets three stars. It was hot in the place the day we were there - but they had posted a sign they were having A/C issues (and it was HOT in Phoenix the day I was there). One final note - parking is terrible. This was the third time I tried to stop by for coffee - we had to give up and go somewhere else the first two times. Sip has way more seating than they do parking, so its not really a "lets meet at Sip" kind of restaurant. Its more of a, "Hey, lets meet at So-and-sos house and carpool over to Sip." Or walk. Or take a bus. Or Uber.

Update March 2016: Thank you for your response! Because you took the time and effort to make me feel like a valued customer, I returned for a second visit on a Saturday. The service and atmosphere was very relaxed, casual and friendly. I tried the vanilla latte and it was really good! Thank you for a great second experience! -- 4 months ago: I was very excited to see this coffee shop open in my neighborhood. Interior design and decor is beautiful. Service, however, is questionable. It seemed that it was extremely inconvenient of me to ask for room for cream in my cup of coffee based on the facial reaction and eye roll...... I apologize for making such an odd request at a coffee shop. I also did not like the taste of the cold brew.

Great place for some many reasons! If you have a date and you dont know where to go? Bring them here, they have good coffee, great beer, friendly staff, good food, live music and great regulars. If you want to just get some work done, the patio seating and indoor seating are perfect for that as well. The aesthetics to this place are very inviting. Plus on the weekend there is a sweet little cocktail lounge downstairs. Im a traveler so I like to try and find cool local places to get work done and usually I would try new spots out each day, but this place has turned me into a regular for the short amount of time Ill be in the area.

I love this place! Its one of my "secret" places that I like to meet people before I head to work. It has been transformed from something like a Jiffy Lube into an actual coffee house. Where the oil pit used to be has been transformed into a tiki bar. The crowd tends to be a lot younger, maybe in their mid-20s to early 30s. Students and tech startup people go in here, but I have seen artists in here drawing while sipping on a cup of coffee. Their menu is decent and you can enjoy your meal while watching a musician play in the evening. They have entertainment nearly nightly. You gotta check it out.

This place is a winner. Stationed in an old jiffy lube, the garage is well lit and features great coffee, worthy craft beer, and good simple eats. Ive been here to study twice and had a good experience both times. As a bonus, there is a dark pirateship motif tiki bar within Sip (just take the stairs down into the oil changing pit). So study and drink coffee until 4pm then descend into the bowels of the ship for a syrupy concoction.

Food was good but it is one of those places that if you havent been there it is super awkward. You have to get your own water and your own silverware. Not a big deal but I just was not told so it was awkward getting up 3 times. Then someone started using a circular saw out on the patio and I got sawdust in my coffee food and in my computer keyboard.

Stopped in looking for something new and wonderful, but this was a bit disappointing. I ordered the Reuben, and it came out cold. I couldnt finish it. My beer was 6 bucks, on happy hour. Too much. Bartender guy, a sorta nerdy dude with glasses (not an insult dude), was super nice and awesome, but the food sucked and the beer was too expensive.

Great place to hang out, the staff is very personable and helpful, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is modern and unpretentious. Had the blt, made traditional but in their vision, had some jam in it which turned out to be a very welcome surprise. They have live music and cant go wrong with the drinks. Definitely deserves give stars.
