I have an allergy to MSG, which is a Flavor Enhancer used in subpar food to make it taste better. Unfortunately, this means that I cant eat at most cheap restaurants as they dont have real gourmet chefs that make their own ingredients. It was great to see that they had a renowned chef at high tide, and that they hand batter and make all of their food/soups and sauces from scratch. Even after the reassurance from their website, menu and waitress... I still always have to ask the ingredients to be safe. I inquired about the fried fish and chips and the home made fresh clam chowder. The waitress assured me that they never add MSG to their meals... I WAS ECSTATIC! Its been years since Id found a restaurant that actually made their clam chowder from scratch and not use a base mixture from a can or bag (all of which contain msg). Moments after ordering, the waitress comes back and apologizes for having mispoken earlier. "Im sorry, I just found out that our clam chowder does have MSG in it." I asked how that could be since they make it from scratch and "Never use MSG", she explained that the clam chowder actually wasnt "entirely from scratch" and may come from a can.... What?!?!? Also, the chef wasnt sure it the batter for the fish contained MSG. When confronted with the question again... I asked, "Dont you make the batter for your hand battered fish?" The waitress responded with a "Yes, the fish are freshly hand battered." Not the answer to my question, so I asked another way... down to the point, their batter is a dry mix of junk that comes from a bag... Why does a gourmet chef serve clam chowder from a can and cant even blend dry ingredients to make a batter? Unreal, especially for what they charge. I ended up ordering their specialty Cole slaw and another less than memorable specialty side dish and my wife ordered their lobster mac and cheese. My kids got a couple things off the kids menu. The quality was definitely not on par for the hype, nor the prices. As the presumed manager was walking by before we received our check, I expressed my dissapointment for the quality of their food. Although, after showing him what was left on our table (nearly everything minus a few bites), he shrugged it off and said "We never usually have any complaints" and walked away. I immediately flagged the server down and asked for a check. Left a good tip for her, just for being honest. It wasnt her fault that the establishment she works at lies about their quality of food to dupe their patrons out of a few bucks more per dish.

My wife and I went to this restaurant with great expectation. The staff was very nice upon our entrance and seated us promptly. Our waitress was also very polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. However, in my opinion, I thought it was way over priced!! I has a steam pot entrée called "The King" which was quite sizeable in portion, however, @ $26, any entrée for this price should take your breath away. NOT the case here. My wife had the fish and chips entrée and we both thought it was very average at best. Add a couple of drinks for both of us and our bill with tip came out to $90. For my money, Ill take Red Lobster over this place any day of the week. High Tide also seems to offer reasonable Happy Hour specials everyday from 3-7 pm which I do plan to see if thats worthwhile. I also didnt get a seafood feel for this place as it is in an Industrial Mall setting in Gilbert. For a REAL seafood experience in Phoenix by all means try the "Salt Cellar" in South Tempe, AZ near Hayden Road & McKellips. It is however, $$$$

My daughter and I ate here last night, what a WONDERFUL SURPRISE! The calamari was some of the best i have ever had.. i had the fish and chips but added fried oysters - and my gosh everything was fried perfectly with large portions and combo regular fries and sweet potato fries. My daughter had the spicy seafood steam pot and it was INCREDIBLE!! I will have that next time i go. It is not at all spicy, maybe you can order it spicier, but it was none-the-less, perfection! With an assortment of halibut, calamari, mussels, and shrimp.. but the pasta itself and the tomato cream sauce simply MADE the flavors.. The drink i had from the bar was awesome, they are not stingy on their pour. And the service we could only rave about. Most certainly have put this on the top of my dining favorites! NOTE: The feel of this place is just perfect.. not too loud, cozy and spread out nicely, with outdoor seating available, nicely decorated.. bar looked cozy.. will set there another time.

As you walk in the restaurant youll forget youre in a strip mall. The decor is very contemporary, beachy bright and airy as if youre in a California seaside. We decided on the Beer Steamed Clam (plump and delicious), lobster bisque (creamy and tasty), chicken wings (full wings with yummy dry rub and two sauces) and kids menu Fish and Chips (very good like the adult entree but smaller portion). Great beer and wine selection as well as house cocktails. They have a specialty steamer contraptions that are fun to watch right up the bar. The seafood must have been flown in because you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Kudos to the owner who walks around to oversee how the customers are enjoying themselves. Ive always thought that gesture ensures good management on their part. Impeccable service. All in all we had a wonderful dinner. We will definitely take friends and family to this wonderful LOCALLY owned business.

This place is consistently good in many ways. The food is stupid good matched only by the excellent personal touch of the wait staff. Prices are reasonable for the portions, which wont be evident by the menu, so dont rule this place out. Dan is an outstanding bartender! Knowledgeable about the menu and lacks the bartending arrogance that so many places suffer from. Cocktails are non traditional and they actually have alcohol in them....which is another ailment that most places suffer from. Also notable mentions are the manager Ginny who greeted me at the door with a huge smile and blatantly unpretentious personality. Erin was another amazing bartender. Im sure there are other staff members I could brag on. This place needs to be on your regular rotation if only for the Lobster Bisque and Margarita Martini. Do yourself and your friends and family a solid and dont miss High Tide!!

So this was our first time here after hearing great things from friends and neighbors. My husband was skeptical as he had been here for happy hour but didnt eat. We were extremely impressed. We ate at the bar since it was a pretty busy night. They lost our place at the hostess stand for a dining room table but it worked out for us. We had a fantastic server. I forgot her name but she was wonderful. My husband had the spicy steam pot and it was delicious. I had the seafood enchiladas which didnt disappoint. We shared the ceviche which had a ton of seafood. I even left without my purse and our very attentive server caught it and held it back in the office until I returned a few minutes later realizing my mistake. Great night out all in all! We ended up here after intending to go to the Salt Cellar but then finding out it was booked.
