This was my first time to try out the café. My mom actually suggested it today for lunch when I came to visit her, for my brothers and her have been going there for many years she mentioned. Our waitress came to the table and asked us what type of drinks we would prefer, my mom mentioned she would like a sweet tea w/lemon and I asked for a Coke with a little ice. After a few moments the waitress comes rushing back as if she was in a speed walk competition, bringing my mom an unsweetened tea no lemon and the correct drink for myself. I mentioned to the waitress after a few minutes if she could bring my mom a sweet tea for she brought an unsweetened tea the last time. The waitress agrees and after a few minutes brings another tea, the same unsweetened tea. So I decided to mention it to her again, after a few minutes the waitress comes through speed walking by and slaps the top of the table twice and says "she will be right back to take our order she has to go to the restroom". After she leaves and is gone I see the very nice hostess that greeted us at the door walking by our table and I asked her if she could please bring my mom a sweet tea. My mom mentioned to me I forgot to ask for the hostess to bring a lemon also. I mentioned to my mom that any person that is a professional server will bring a lemon slice as the garnish, My mom then says the other waitress did not twice on the last two drinks she brought over, I then told my mom she had strong point. The hostess came back and there was a lemon wedge on the top of the Lucite tumbler and the tea was spot on sweet according to my mom. Eventually the waitress comes back and asks if we are ready to order, we said yes. I then asked her if the restaurant also carried burgers, she quickly guides me to the back of the menu. As I started to glance where she lead me to and was about to mention while glancing where she lead me that I already knew what I was going to order this was only for maybe a future visit, she busted out less than a split second later "Ill be right back" and sped walked away, as if she was off to put out a fire. Ten minutes later he she comes again and asked if we are ready. My mom mentioned to her that she would like the fried catfish and I mentioned to her that I would like the Pork Steak special with mac and baked potato. She then mentioned to me it will take about 15 minutes for the special, I then told her no problem. The owner Tom comes by and my mom soon recognizes him and they and I carry on a conversation him saying how that place use to be a Western Auto and my mom mentioning to him how she use to enjoy the antique furniture store upstairs. He then asked what I did and how I use to be a professional chef with Aramark, The Hyatt Regency, Wyndam, St. Pete Times Forum to mention a few before retiring. He then mentioned to me about his son in law came in after leaving the ring making jewelry business to help him out. He then pointed him out to me, I mentioned to Tom that I asked him about the special earlier and he sold me on it, it takes a lot to sell me I told Tom. Twenty minutes later the waitress speed walks back with our lunch order a chopped beef steak with mushrooms on the top w/ brown gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans with bacon cooked in, which looked good but is not what I ordered. She did have the fried catfish w/tarter sauce for my mom which was correct. I then went through the drill with her again about the pork steak special and sides and she starts to rush off again and while leaving two steps away "Idiot". I heard her, but I thought she was referring to herself, but my mom also heard her and said to me "no she was referring to you". I then mentioned it to Toms son in law and he assured me he would take care of it, shes out of here the whole routine. Went to pay, told it was comp. I told the son in law not to do that he refused my payment, he then leans over with smoke on his breath and tells me he spoke with mngr. over phone. He said my mom and I do this every 3-4 months. I asked no one to comp me a**hole. Lost these customers !

First time eating at Humble City Cafe. Atmosphere was okay and the waitress was friendly. You get plenty of food at a affordable price. I had ordered the Deluxe Country Breakfast. The food was good but the blueberry pancakes wasnt all that good the batter tasted funny. Towards the end of my meal as I was finishing up my eggs I found a lock of hair on my plate. I was shocked and disgusted at the same time because I was actually enjoying my meal till I found a lock of hair on my plate along with the eggs I was eating. I told the waitress there was a lock of hair on my plate she said "it was just a crack on my plate". I beg to differ a crack on a plate doesnt move around like hair does when you swish it around with your fork. The waitress didnt seem upset that their was a lock of hair on my plate. She seem more upset towards me for finding the lock of hair on my plate. Then the manager came over to see if this was true and she just casually apologize like its a normal thing that happens here at Humble City Cafe. Well under the circumstances my friend Denise didnt have to pay for my meal kudos for her. But for me unfortunately the experience was horrible and I was literally gagging.
