We got here at 11:45 on a Sunday, myself, wife and 9 month old daughter. We were sat next to the kitchen and servers area in a booth. We had plenty of time to check over the menu because no one ever spoke to us until shortly after 12. I believe our servers name was Josh, he apologized to us about nobody helping us and he said the reason was "the hostess is mad at me so shes not telling me when people are sat for me" . Cool Work that out on your own time so it doesnt affect your service, also the person that sat us was a young guy with glasses not a hostess. We had our menus closed at that point so it was pretty obvious we were good to go. We got our drinks ordered and then continued to sit and stare at our menus for another 5 to 10 minutes. We both wanted the Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders. My wife is sort of picky about what she eats and the only side she wanted was the mashed sweet potatoes, but shes used to doing stuff like that. She ordered her meal and then i ordered mine, i got the hot chicken tenders, fries, and red beans and rice and since i was already starving i asked for a cup of the soup of the day. He asked if we wanted to just use that as my wifes second side because the meals came with 2 sides and she said no can she just get a double side of sweet potatoes. He must have missunderstood her which happens because he thought she just still wanted the one side because he said "Well the computer is gonna have me put in a second side regardless so i can just pick and if you dont like what it is thats fine" Listen guy, that comes off as dickish, thank god m kid was there to keep me from telling you that to your face. Also side note if your business MAKES you give someone a food item they dont want instead of just leaving it off that is dumb as hell. You are literally wasting the money of your employer. Anyway fifteen minutes later food gets there suprise suprise no soup ever showed up. Im not one to complain about things and I had my main food anyway so i didnt say anything about it. Now about the food, nashville hot chicken tenders should not be called that if its just going to be spicy chicken thats battered and then drizzled with honey. Thats not how that works, you need oil drizzled on them thats infused with hot spices and they should be reddish in color... not generic brown. We didnt get the pickles with them as described in the menu and they were served over wheat bread not white. The red beans and rice i got was just that. Flavorless red beans DRY over DRY brown rice. Barely any spice, no liquid or southern flavor. The fries.... decent. I liked them. My wife enjoyed the sweet potatoes. Time to pay the check, we get the check and it still has the soup listed so when Josh came back to take it we asked him to take it off. He waited other tables and even took other checks until finally flagging down a colleague to help him fix our check. I would say we sat for another 10 to 15 minutes trying to entertain my daughter between time we got our check and time when we got our card and check back so we could leave. I left a 2 dollar tip, that was probably way more generous than i should have been. Also twice my Sprite was refilled by someone with a water jug they were toting around and I had to ask for a new drink, please note water does not normally or SHOULD not I guess have bubbles and carbonation in it. My favorite part was the family of 4 who were sat down after we were and left well before we did that were behind us. To our server if you were new or just having an off day that is unfortunate that they dont train better. As stated above work out personal issues with other employees that influence your work. Get a manager involved, go higher than that. If time travel is ever invented I need to go back and stop myself from picking that place to "try it out". Several other places closer to get treated better and faster.

I went here for lunch today with my three kids specifically because it was said to be kid friendly. We get there and the first thing that happens is theyre out of kid crayons. Not a huge deal, I carry a bag of crayons on me. Then they are out of kids cups...i guess Ill make that work although an adult to go cup is tricky for young kids to maneuver. Then the A.C. clicks on and I realise weve been sat directly under an a.c. vent and the rest of the meal is 3 kids announcing they are cold and trying to cover themselves with their napkins. Kids meals were all fine, normal kid fair. I ordered the crab cake eggs Benedict and the asparagus was great, the potatoes were fine, the eggs Benedict was...awful. Now Ill give credit where credit is due, I didnt complain but when asked by the waitress if I liked it, I was honest. I was offered a chance to pick something else but my kids were cold and done eating so I refused. They took it off the check which was nice as I didnt ask them to. But in general it just wasnt a good experience especially as it was our first time there. I doubt well go back. Based on the other reviews I would assume it was an off day but even so, just one to many things that added up to a negative experience.

This is a fantastic place to get southern style food. The prices are an absolute bargain for what you get, and the food is predictably good. If you are avoiding pork products you may want to move on, but if your diet includes them youll love their red beans & rice, southern style gravy coated chicken fried chicken, great cornbread, good rolls, great biscuits & gravy. About the only thing I was even remotely disappointed with here was the fried okra -- its still pretty good, but just not as good as the rest of their stuff. They have excellent fried green tomatoes, best Ive ever had. This was a nice find on a recent trip to Nashville, and Im very happy that we stopped there. Excellent value, and you wont leave there hungry, nor dissatisfied.

First time visiting. I decided on the Chicken Fried Chicken dinner with homemade mashed potatoes and some delicious white cream gravy along with corn. Added a Black-eyed Pea Dinner Salad that was extremely fresh and exceptional for a dinner salad. The fried chicken…great batter and cooked perfectly and the cream gravy was an excellent complement to the chicken. They also bring out a bread basket of corn bread (tasty) and yeast rolls (yum). Need to be careful not to fill up on the bread basket…or at least save a yeast roll to sop up the leftover gravy! Great service at the bar and the cost for the entire meal & beer was an incredible deal. You get a ton of delicious homemade food for a very reasonable cost.

Hit or miss at this restaurant, unfortunately. I love the baked squash casserole and cabbage so I keep coming back...this gives me a decently averaged opinion. Sometimes the service is good but, more often than not, its slow and it seems like the servers have better things to do than serve. The food can be hit or miss also. My favorite used to be the blackened fish wraps with avocado because they used to ALWAYS be delicious. Now is seems that sometimes they are missing ingredients or the mango is so green that its like celery. Overall, its 3 stars lately (like the past 6 months to a year). It used to be 5 stars, in my opinion.
