Are you kidding me Critical Reviewer? You must not have eaten at many buffets before! Grandmas cooking may have certainly ruined your taste buds buddy. You would probably think that the Panda Buffet across the way is great then. Because they are the worst in the Northeast. The Grand China Buffet is hands down the best buffet that has ever blessed our area. I would have to be considered an avid buffet connoisseur, because I think that I had tried just about every buffet in the whole northeast, and I must say that Grand China tops them all by far, by way of variety, cleanliness, quality, and staff, who do not make you wait forever for replenishing the food, compared to most buffets. The atmosphere is vast and modern and most of the food is good quality when freshly replenished, of course some foods will appear rubbery if not refreshed, you will find that anywhere you go. But overall a great buffet for the money! Dont just take my word for it, this is only my opinion of the place through my experiences. Try it for yourself, I dont think that you will be disappointed. I had eaten there about 20 times or more now and I still havent had any complaints. The crablegs are the best tasting around surprisingly for a buffet. I hope that never changes. Definitely worth 5 stars in my book!!!

Great food great place .. I go here all the time with my boyfriend I love the coconut shrimp, crab, sushi, chocolate fountain etc... great variety of food American food, Asian style foods, seafood, hibachi, salad bar, dessert etc. I only have this a 4 out of 5 stars because I just left there tonight and the server that took our check pretty much told my boyfriend what to write in the tip spot before the total... she said "2 dollars, 2 dollars" and pointing to check. She knew I already gave her a tip in cash(she was holding it) too but I guess it wasnt enough for her. My boyfriend just wrote the extra 2 dollars in tip for his credit card since it was awkward. It honestly looked very unprofessional and desperate to ask for money especially since tipping is all generosity and the fact that I already gave her a tip in cash, she should already be thankful. I have been a bartender/waitress for 5 years, I understand that you have to make a living off tips, but still I would never do that. Its not about the 2 dollars its about how a tip is what it is. I hope that doesnt happen again. Please tell your servers that you should not beg for tips from your customers especially since it is a buffet.....Tonight was the only night that happened but other than that we had a great time !

Grand China Buffet a, a crude restuarant offers a variety of food such as spring rolls, lo mein, rice noodles and shrimp. They even offer a free hibachi grill and sushi. However, the floor looks dirtier then the pavement outside. The plates are a complete embarrassment to eat with; theyre still wet and still flaky its as if their dishwasher was broken or something. To top things off the food wasnt all that great much of it was too salty and very oily. I decided to five the deserts a try only to once again be disappointed. The tragedy of a chocolate cake was simply a large flat cupcake with thick frosting on top. The brownies tasted powdery and overly dry, its as if they tried to add play dough onto the pastry. I had ok service (nothing special), ordinary fast food, and terrible utensils. But what I did receive was a stomach ache afterwards. I would eat here only if any other locations nearby were worse then this (which is hard to do).

I wouldve given this place 5 stars, as the food was good, but when I was there one of the servers came up to me at the end and gave me the wrong receipt for my meal. Which wasnt a big deal, but then when she provided me with the correct receipt I gave her the money and she asked me did I want her to bring my change I said yes. SO she takes almost ten minutes to bring back the receipt with my change then she says so are you giving me a tip or not, Now I was going to tip 15 % but after her making me wait and her nasty demanding attitude she ruined that for herself. So when I gave her a tip she was like are you kidding me and rolled her eyes. I will never come back again just because of the way she was towards me and my family.

If this buffet was in Chinatown, it would get zero stars. But you must have far lower criteria when evaluating Northeast Phillys Chinese restaurants. It is worth eating at this establishment just to see the reactions of the employees when you do not leave a tip; they will curse at you in their native language and make faces. It is a riot! They treat their customers like the enemy yet wonder why some people refuse to tip them. The food is extremely generic and tasteless. The premises are very dirty; expect to see several "pet" cockroaches and on occasion a mouse or rat. But are they really that much worse than most other Northeast Philly Chinese restaurants?

I was just there. It was overwhelming in there. The food was all over the counters. i forgave that because it was crowded. Than ny grandson got on a ride. The machine did not work. I went to the front to retrieve my money back and was treated badly because I wanted my money back. The man who is at the register now yelled at me and waved his hand at me. I asked him can I see the Manager. He yelled at me again and said " I am the Manager". He was so rude. I couldnt believe that a business man would talk like that. I usually have a good experience. I am very upset today and did not enjoy myself.
