Food is delicious, artwork is fun, location is good for that redbrick area in downtown Cbus. Every time Ive been here I stare at the (hipster ironic?) paintings of Van Halen and Motley Crue, bands Ive loved since I was eleven or ten. Id love to give this place 5 stars, because it was the place that turned this little section of downtown around, but I cant ignore the fact that I havent always received friendliness or attentiveness from the bartenders. Sometimes, more than Id like, they have seemed rather ambivalent about my patronage, greeting me but not asking for my drink order or offering me a menu or asking "How are you today?", for several minutes after Ive sat down, not asking me how my food is, after Ive been served, not asking me if Id like another drink, all the while, chatting with other (more?) regular customers, or other staff, at the other end of the bar, and just not engaging me in any kind of way. It doesnt make me want to come back. Also, the music reminds me of what they played at Bernies Bagels and Used Kids Records, heavy on the 80s and 90s punk rock, which is fine. I have my moments when I put on some Fugazi or Dead Kennedys or Misfits or Gang Green, but this kind of music reflects the stand-off-ish mood of this places bartenders and serving staff. The Germs and Citizen Fish are great bands, but their music reflects a kind of dislike of people. On the other hand, this place is very popular for lunch and late night. At lunch Ive seen lines to get in, and a co-worker of mine loves going there for karaoke night. Im sure this place is fun and great if youre with friends and want a punk rock hot dog place with a decent bar selection. Maybe its just not my bar.

I really liked Dirty Franks the first time I visited the restaurant. I liked the vibe, I thought the decor had personality, and the hot dogs were delicious. However, as I started coming back more frequently, I find myself almost hating this place. The service has gotten really sloppy. I feel that the employees are banking on the fact that the place is hip and trendy, and therefore, dont put any personal effort into customer service. My boyfriend and a few co-workers went to dine in about a month back, and left after waiting half an hour at their table without a waiter or waitress coming by to even take drink orders. This past week, I got take out, and it took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged and another 5 before someone even told me where to place my order. As I waited at the register to pay for my food, about half the staff stood around me and clearly pretended to not realize I was there so that they wouldnt need to handle me. A host asked me to wait off at the side, at which point I informed him that I had yet to pay my bill. The joint feels very rush and the rude and less than personable staff makes it seem like their priority is to begrudgingly take your cash and shove you out the door. I understand that they are in a small building and are very busy, but I just felt like I was a nuisance for even ordering food. As much as I enjoyed the food, I probably wont be back just because of the customer service alone. This place needs a turn around before they run themselves into the ground. Also, I am not the first person I know who has a similar opinion on this matter.

Have been to DFs on numerous occasions and have really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Last night (Saturday) took some friends that were in town around 6 for dinner. I expected it to be busy and for there to be a wait...no worries, figured we could go next door to 8 Bit for a drink and some games while we wait. The space is really small with barely a place to stand. The server asked our name and # in the party. I asked if he could tell us about how long the wait is and he said "No, I cant." So, I said if we wanted to wait next door and grab a drink...and before I could even ask if they have some sort of system or if we could leave a phone number he said "Im not going to come find you on a night this busy." Extremely rude and pretty unwarranted given it was just a question, not a demand that he do so. He seemed like he couldnt handle the volume and was visibly flustered. I wont be back to DFs unless they do at least 1 of the following things: -Hire staff who know what good service is or dont freak out when theyre busy. -Figure out some sort of waiting area/system -How about invest in those little vibrating coasters so you can go next door and enjoy a drink and come back when your table is ready?

I was here last night with a friend and we were having a pretty good time until a guy sat down next to us at the bar and was ignored for 10 minutes before he finally asked the bartender if he could order some food. The bartender came over and apologized that the kitchen had just closed up, and they stop taking food orders at 1:45 (it was actually 1:37 at the time, AND he had already been sitting there for 10 minutes). It made my friend and I so uncomfortable that I wanted to leave. So we were finishing our drinks and he then told us that he would get in trouble if we were still in there drinking at 15 after 2 (there were still 3 other people at the bar drinking that he said nothing to). So over all I would say my experience was not even good (other than the food). I would not recommend anyone here, and with working at the hotel down the street, I send people to the restaurants on 4th all the time.

I first went to dirty Franks in 2010, it was a short walk from my college campus. Now that I dont live in Columbus anymore, if Im ever in town I make it a point to stop there! They have Vienna beef hot dogs and vegan options as well. Lots of creative delicious combinations with fun names. Some of my favorites are the classy lady (cheddar cheese with crushed potato chips) or the original onion (cream cheese, onion, and green onion). The French fries and Mac & cheese are also wonder sides. The atmosphere is great, the staff is always friendly. I recently had an encounter where a drunk man wouldnt leave me alone and they politely told him to leave me alone, and eventually told him to leave cause he was harassing more people. I appreciate them looking out for their patrons. The inside of the store is very unique as well.

I usually go here for Comedy Night on Sunday, but after this past Sunday I shall not go again. Our waitress was extremely rude, obviously targeting those of us who are under 21. She claiming she had seen us drink our friends beer and requesting our IDS, when we clearly were happy with our Dr. Pepper. She then refused to believe us and took our friends drink away and still charged him for it. This isnt the first time Ive had rude service while dining here, but that sort of thing generally doesnt bother me, but after my last visit it put me over the top. Needless to say, its a cool idea and a nifty place, but the hot dogs arent that great, the service is terrible. As a bar, its probably a nice place, but for anyone dining in, I wouldnt recommend it.
