I wish i could give more stars. This was one of the best dining experiences i have had in New York (and we get around!) I arranged a dinner here for my girlfriends 30th birthday. finding a restaurant that will/can facilitate a group dinner of more than 8 people is a mission in itself but I (and most importantly the birthday girl) couldnt have been more pleased with their service, food and experience at La Gamelle. we had a group of 18 so i expected some compromise on food standards but the food was exceptional. we had a prix fixe and the staff were so helpful putting it together and adding some nice personal touches. appetisers: steak tartare was delicious, my favourite. pate was also excellent. i didnt try the salads but both the roquefort and caesar salads went down well. the Short rib papparadelle was a big favourite. the short rib was succulent, the pasta was nicely cooked. the branzino was also very popular. I had been dubious about putting this on the menu but went with their recommendation and im glad i did. i really wanted to try the demi poulet as it looked amazing. the deserts were beautiful too and the family style worked well for the group. we also added the beverage package and the wine was excellent for the price. we finished with espresso martinis which were really great. it topped off the night. i have to say the staff here worked so hard and were so great. the really made the whole night so enjoyable. we threw a few curve balls at them but they took it in their stride with a smile and professionalism. The owners should be exceptionally proud to have staff like Manon, Harold, Ki who make this establishment what it is. i cant wait to go back - and anytime i have friends in town. this will be my first stop. its a friendly french bistro in a similar style to Balthazar, but much more comfortable, much more pleasant experience and in my opinion as good if not better food.

The staff was very accommodating. The day we went it began to pour down and rather than let us stand outside for ten minutes while we waited for the restaurant to open they allowed us inside. All the orders were accurate. The staff members were knowledgeable, attentive and most of all ready, able and willing to o make our experience special. The mussels were fresh as was the grilled octopus. Definitely will try this place again.

Have been many times and always love it. It feels like the most authentic French bistro in New York. Food is terrific. Service is friendly and professional. Everyone seems to want the customers to be happy. Today we were there for Happy Hour, which is a great deal. Had a delicious steak tartare, fried oysters and a berry cocktail. Love this place!

Beautifully fitted out, this restaurant has a lot of charm and incredible food to match. We had the house-made charcuterie and escargot to start, and the roast chicken and salmon mains, and were impressed by everything. The service was excellent, and we were happy to enjoy a long relaxing dinner here. Would definitely recommend.

Feels like youre transported into a true Parisian bistro as soon as you step in. The service is warm and inviting. The food is truly spectacular without being too pretentious. And besides the high quality of the dishes, the quantity may have you asking if youre not in NYC any longer. The short rib entree is a must try.

Stopped by for a quick brunch. One other table in the place. Took 45 minutes to get our food. Obviously way-too-strong coffee. Espresso machine broken. Two waiters rearranging champagne bottles for an an hour. Too sweet onions in the omlet. Maybe better at dinner.

Great atmosphere, well priced wine list, very attentive service, and overall decent food. A bit on the salty side. Not extraordinary though. Overall a fun place to go for casual dinner with your not too foodie friends.

The hanger steak with a bone marrow pipe. Wow. And a side of pommes frites. You got yourself a meal. Very laid back atmosphere. Warm lighting. Bartenders who take care of you. Walk in and post up at the bar.

Monday evening, just needed a quiet place to eat and relax. Great ambience, kind staff and the food was just right. Portion size was well as well, in the three different dishes we had. Gonna come back!
