Once a great neighborhood bar, but now youre paying for the remodel job with your pocket, your value, and your watered down experience. Read on if youd like. I used to be very proud to call myself a regular here. The bar staff and wait staff are amazing people, and most after six years are people I’d consider friends of mine. Something that has changed though is your pocket, your value, and your experience when you go there, all watered down, and because of this so has the normal crowd of patrons. This was a bar that I could walk in on any night of the week and without fail see six people I knew having a drink there. That’s not the way it is now and with what has happened it shouldnt be. The regular crowd has begun to leave. The owners of this bar have steered it away over the last two years from the corner bar where everyone knew everybody, to an overpriced, underserved, uptight joke. The staple 32oz “boomba” mug has been dropped on non-Tuesday nights to a 28oz mug, all while kicking the price up $0.75 from $5 up to $5.75. No, you didn’t read that wrong. You pay more money now for less beer. The “game pints” which are supposed to be some deal is up to $2.75 on Detroit game nights, as if I can’t go a mile up the road to Sabby’s and get a pint for $2 and/or a bottle for $1.50 on Detroit game nights. Liquor is no different, prices on well drinks rose from $3.75 to $4.00. Of course, then there is the fabled “Boomba” night, on Tuesday nights. This used to be the night to be here. I said before you could always run into at least six people you knew here on any night of the week, well on Tuesday nights you couldn’t walk six feet without walking into six people you knew. Yet, systematically, over the last few years, the price for domestic boombas has risen from $3.25 to $3.95. The only price the owners kept the same was PBR, which is still at $2.95 for a boomba on a Tuesday night. Now I had kept going to the bar until recently as much as I could, but it wasn’t because of the decisions that the owners have made, it was because of the bar and wait staff, the people that had become my friends over the last six years, such wonderful people. This is where I get into my assessment of “uptight”. This was the bar where everyone knew everyone, but now, the staff isn’t allowed to hug the people that come in because there is a recently added “no touching” rule in effect, as well as no more multiple earrings, no more colored jewelry…etc etc etc. This isn’t the fun place I’d go a few nights a week to grab a beer, watch the game, talk with friends, and visit the staff that was working. This isn’t a St. Clair Shores bar anymore. It looks and feels (especially on the pocket), like a polished up façade for Grosse Pointe Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods residents. Without fail if it was someone’s birthday that was on shift in the ER at St. John, we were heading there to celebrate. Those days are long gone at this point. Yes, the owners gave the bar a small facelift inside, and it looks nice, but you’re paying for it in your pocket, your value, and your watered down experience at what was once a great SCS bar. - David

2 stars for the hostess are always rude and unwelcoming! 4 stars for the food and scenery, ill explain; the steak fajitas were great. As was my fathers burger and Food is always big portions ...though we asked for booth and yet young blonde hostess takes us past 3 empty booths all way around to other side of bar looking around confused. To finally arrive at a booth that plates were still being cleaned off table and seat wiped. Gee thanks for giving me a wet a** . Any other restaurant has a list of open tables for the hostess. we get a short black- haired waitress with the bangs parted to one side was RUDE i have to repeat everything i say cause its so loud! Whipping open her note pad coming back with a glass of lemonade with brown liquid all down the side. Came by once after food was served to ask "how was everything?" and before me or my father could respond she was turning around and walking away. CAME BACK TO GIVE ANOTHER TRY AND FOOD WAS AWESOME AGAIN! AMBER WAITED ON US AND WAS VERY KIND AND CONSIDERATE when my fathers steak sub was too fatty to eat gave him a burger free of charge and sub wasnt charged either they do care about their customers perception of their establishment! Wasnt overly loud either this time i think they read my original review ... Though really need to Fire those young white guys at the front door they barely acknowledge your existence just start walking away expecting you to follow them to your table and when leaving they say have a good night when your already almost at the door with your back to them? ? Get off youre cell phone and do your job, with a smile too! You could be slaving in a steel shop for a living like me you know!

We went to the Shores Inn today for lunch, we hadnt been there in years so we decided lets go. Now we know why we hadnt been there in years. My husband ordered a Hamburger and it came with chips. Our waitress only took our order and never came back. Apparently the manager Ashley is the one who brought us our food and the chips that came with the burger looked like they were from the bottom of the bag.... All Crumbs! when my husband said something right then ,Ashley just turned and walked away. When she came back to bring the mayo we said something to her and all she said was "oh well but their good" turned and walked away. Our waitress never came back to check on us and as a matter of fact no one did. Our waitress would glance over when walking by but never asked if we needed anything. Finally she was standing by us just looking around and we asked if we could have our bill, She looked surprised and I asked if she was our waitress and she said yes. She gave us our bill and still never asked how our meal was or if we would like anything else. We told her about the crumbs that were given to us instead of chips and guess what............she didnt even say sorry or offer to get chips. Horrible service especially from the Manager ASHLEY!! Never go back!

Ive been a long time customer of Shores Inn and they used to have a great burger. What I had for lunch today was awful. It was the special burger combo supposedly angus beef. If that was angus beef I will eat my hat. The patty was too uniform. It looked like a frozen patty thrown on the grill. I asked for medium and it was grey inside. It was dry as could be. I should have sent it back but I was with a group and didnt want to hold others up. 2 others agreed that it was a bad burger. Yall should be ashamed of yourselves serving a product like that. Especially since you used to have a good juicy burger. It will be a while before I go back.
