I am not one to complain but my experience here assures I wont go back. Two of us walked in and stood next to the front counter. The place was busy but there were several open tables. Though there were three staff people often less than 12 inches from us, not one of then so much would look at us. After five minutes, one of the staff said someone will be right with you. More people line up behind us. A second staff person ask us, "Do you have a reservation?" We say, no, and she walks away. She comes back after a few minutes asks the people behind us if they have a reservation. They say, yes, and she walks away. We wait another few minutes. The party behind us gets seated. We wait and no one will look at us. The same staff person returns and asks the new people behind us if they have a reservation. They say, yes, and she walks away. We wait another five minutes and leave. A little, itll be a 20 minute wait - or Im sorry we cant seat you now - would go a long way. We got the message. They dont need your busines.

RUDE. We were turned away at the door because they didnt have ANY room for two people. There were many empty tables. We dine in Portland frequently and have NEVER been turned away without so much as a "well see what we can do" or some sort of wait time. We were told that Groupon customers were to blame. She handed us a business card and told us that we dont live too far away and that we should come back another day. She actually started to argue with us about how far away we live. WE know where WE live. We drive a long way to enjoy Portland restaurants weekly. This one will never have our business. Instead, we tried Brunos on Allen Ave.... so happy we did! Dont waste your time at Paciarino, or let them act like youre wasting THEIR time.

I think for many of the people giving this place a bad review they were just uniformed about what this place is. You have to make reservations, so getting turned down for walk-ins should be expected at times. This place also doesnt serve the traditional Americanized Italian food most people are accustomed to, which gets most of its influences from Sicily. Paciarinos is more heavily influenced from mainland Italy, with much of its flavor Paleys coming from central to northern Italy. Let go of your preconceived notions of what Italian food has to be and enjoy new flavors and styles of food. Service is great and food is really well made. A lot of care goes into each dish.

This is the place to find fresh, handmade pasta! I went here for lunch with a co-worker and had a salad and the ravoli. The place was casual, simple and the food was well-portioned and very tasty! If your looking for AUTHENTIC Italian cooking- this is the place to go! I returned with my husband for dinner and although the prices were higher than lunch (for practically the same item and portion), the meal was still decent Italian food. Reservations are recommended as a few times weve been turned away because they were too busy.

Very disappointed. My wife and I arrived at 5:15 and discovered that on Fri and Sat. they open at 6:00 (5:30 Mon-Thur). We were told by a waiter setting up tables to come back at 6:00. Went to Walters to have a drink and wait. Came back at 6:05 and were told by the hostess that they were very busy, had run out of chairs, and it would be over an hour before we could be seated. Now we find ourselves in the Old Port trying to find a place to eat after 6 on a Sat night . Disappointed and inconvenienced.

My boyfriend made reservations here for Valentines Day, and it was unlike anywhere else Id been before. The space is small, but thats what I liked about it! The lighting, the coziness, even the look of the menu made Paciarino very inviting. I got one of their ravioli dishes and ugh, it was absolutely melt-in-your mouth delicious. This aint no Olive Garden! Our waitress was unbelievably kind and helpful. No unkind words can be said about our experience. Will re-visit!

Being from out of town we searched the web for a restaurant near our hotel within walking distance. It was a cold, rainy and foggy night and immediately upon entering the restaurant we felt welcomed. The decor was warehouse chic. The server was informative about ingredients and ebullient. The wine choices were excellent and paired well with the cuisine. The food was over to top .... we are going to visit this establishment again the next time we are in Portland!

Dined for first time on 1/26/11. Loved this place. Was expecting a bit more formal atmosphere, but was pleasantly surprised at how relaxed it was. Food was off-the-charts. Both girlfriend and I had amazing dishes- you could tell they were cooking with very fresh ingredients. Was hoping for a bigger portion...because I could have eaten ten bowls (we each had different types of ravoili). I cant wait to go back and absolutely suggest Paciarino 110%.

They had a romantic table waiting for us (highly recommend making reservations). The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was romantic. The restaurant its self is quaint and charming. We had the Italian salad for starters, fair enough size for two. Then the ravioli milano al pomodoro and the ravioli goat cheese al pomodoro. Both were rich in flavor, you can definitely tell the pasta is homemade.

Chef boyardee Italian. Wine was the best thing on the menu. Salad was bland and wasnt even tossed with dressing throughout. Service was slow and unimpressive. I sent the first dish back because it was naked spaghetti with no flavor. My wifes ravioli was also extremely bland. The second dish I got was about what I would expect from a chef boyardee dinner. My wife make better Italian in her sleep. Never coming back.

Absolutely love this place. This is the best pasta I have eaten. The simplest dishes are fantastic, and the dining room is so welcoming - very much like you are in a friends kitchen. A top choice in Portland for FRESH food, good wine, and Italian desserts. Only advice is to call ahead for a reservation, as the seating is limited.

Hands down, the best restaurant in Portland. Although, the portion is on the smaller side, the food is amazing. Ate lunch one day, and went back for dinner next night. I had Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino...a simple dish and it was the best thing I have had the past five years. Service was pleasant and attentive.

Great food! Nice atmosphere. Good service for those who have reservations like I did. Who gos out in the old port during the weekend and expects to get a table at a great restaurant without a reservation anyway? My guess is they must not go out much!!!

Delicious pasta & fresh sauce made at the restaurant. Everything was simply wonderful at this place from start to finish. The waitresses are really sweet too!
