The first three times we drove by this place, we thought it said Erotic India and while we quickly realized our mistake, our visit was absolutely amazing. Wed been searching for a good Indian spot and this is officially our place. We started with the exotic naan and simply said, it was incredible. I found myself wishing my mouth was larger so I could have more in at one time. Great with the cilantro sauce. For a main dish we had the mango curry and the Kharahi and both were delightful. Served over the Basmati rice, it was delectable. The flavors were just right and the 3 and 4 stars of hotness we had were masterfully done. Heat, but with flavor, just like Mama makes....if youre mom is from India or works here. The Chai was really good and complimented the meal very well. The only improvement would be making it $5 and having it be an unlimited refill Chai! The waiters were great, very attentive, but not there too much. The made great recommendations and were very friendly. Bottom line: Well be taking friends here in the near future. It rivals some of the better Indian food Ive had on this half of the country and is a definite must try!

First of all I have to start off as I have no idea how people have given this place 4 and 5 stars. It is definitely one of the worst Indian foods i have ever had. I am yet to try the other 2 indian places here in iowa city but I tried this one today and it was sooo bad that i had to review it. no problem with the service and people there, thats all fine they are nice and all, just that they dont know how to cook, simple as that. absolutely no taste in any of the food i had and i pretty much tried everything, just in the hope that they might have a face saver. but it was all pretty bad and tasteless and was nothing even close to what its supposed to be if you have eaten regular indian food. the best part was that the dish that they call as punjabi chhole did not have any chhole in it. hahahha, it was hillarious how bad it was. I went for the sunday buffet. the only decent thing was probably the mini samosas but am pretty sure they were refried as well. am definitely never going there again.

My friends and I have often visited this place and would consider ourselves as regular customers. We have even gone to the extent of recommending this restaurant to others but a recent change of the management and service staff has left a bad taste in our mouth. On at least 3 occasions, we have felt that we have been ignored and not provided the level of service as some of the other customers present. On one occasion, we had to walk up to the manager to place our order as both the manager and the waiting staff ignored our table. In our opinion, we have not done anything to receive such treatment but if others have had similar experiences then something needs to be done about it. I feel that others should know that good food doesnt always translate to good service.

Not Good. I was here for the convention and its the closest Indian restaurant, so thought lets give it a try. I ordered Malai Kofta, which was bitter in test and koftas were very hard. Manager / Owner told me that all the koftas are hard today but he does not have any answer for bitter curry. He offered me replacement but I cant able to dare again so I quit by paying my bill. He should have not charged me if he agreed that the dish was not good today. Restaurant was 50% full, so might be they have something good there, but I am not going back. Good location, good service but simply no test. At least not good for People who know the real test of Indian food.

Very nice people working here. Decent curries, best in eastern Iowa to be sure! I think if you are from India, you should take it easy when reviewing this place. We are in the middle of nowhere, and it is hard to make fresh-tasting, authentic curries when you are too far from where the spices and the yogurt are made. For Americans in Iowa, this is a fantastic Indian food experience and I would recommend it any day. They will work with you on the spice levels and the flavor is as expected. Order from the menu, ditch the buffet, and you will be very happy.

Lunch in this restaurant is usually buffet. This review is based on a weekend buffet. The price is cheaper ($9 per person) and, unfortunately, their buffet options matches the price (only has limited choices - even fewer options if you are vegetarian). Their buffet menu rarely changes and the taste is very bland. The buffet has dosas which are usually cold and dry. They do serve Roti for lunch, which are OK. Desert options for buffet are very limited. Wouldnt go again for buffet.

We went for Sunday lunch buffet ....seems while competing with new restaurant they lost all good things. This restaurant used to be good until new restaurant (Haveli ) came up in same area. Quality and taste of food has gone way down , food was taste less and had nothing Indian. one of worst thing i noticed in Goat curry pieces of goad meat was smaller than chopped onions. i had to actually search for goat meat pieces in goat curry :). in short it was big disappointment !!!!

We have been to all three Indian restaurants in Iowa City and this one by far blows the rest away. The food is wonderful and can be compared to authentic Indian cuisine. The food is always delightful and hearty. They give you a lot of food for your money also. The decor is very nice and always clean. The ambiance is peaceful. Very friendly people working there. If your thinking about trying this place please do, you will not be disappointed.

The buffet was fantastic! While the meat dishes looked great, i stuck with the vegetarian options & I was impressed! Full of flavor & filling AF, though that could be due to the enormous amount of naan they bring to the table. Which, in hindsight, i really didnt have to eat all of. But it is so delicious, so theres that. No problems with service or cleanliness to be found. I will most certainly be back when Im in town!

Food and service has gone downhill. Having worked at an Indian restaurant myself, it appears this restaurant has taken to cutting corners and using inferior ingredients to reduce costs. I was initially impressed with this restaurant in fall of 2012, but my experience recently was overwhelmingly negative. I am disappointed with the decline in quality, and will not be returning.

This place is consistently the best Indian food restaurant Ive ever eaten, and I love eating Indian food. Their menu options are the best, as the buffet is less bold on flavors and seems a bit more bland. Perhaps they arent wanting to turn off those who arent into the spicier foods for which they are better known. I highly recommend this place either way, and hope you enjoy!

I cant say enough good things! The service is absolutely extraordinary, and the staff are glad to explain menu items or offer suggestions. Generous portions for the price, food is served family style so everyone can order something different and share around. Everything Ive ordered has been so good. I recommend the karahi; and that you save room for dessert.
