Im only giving 1 star because the waitress was excellent and the food was delicious. Todays a Sunday, around 3, it was quiet and we were seated quickly which was a plus. Take in mind we had notified them of my siblings birthday today and he wanted to be seated by the animals that move and growled etc. The hostess wasnt very friendly, he didnt tell us to follow him or anything. The only words we got were "here are the restrooms." An took us to our table. Not even a few feet from the door, he placed us at a table with barely any of the animals, just a large column and another table near us, and left. No "your waiter will be with you shortly," or "is a table okay?" He set the menus down and left. We had notified him, that we wanted a seat near the animals, but either he didnt listen or ignored it. We asked an employee cleaning a table if we could move closer to the middle to be by the animals, they said okay and moved us two tables away from where they placed us before. We have the stars above us and that was it. Im sure anyone with children who want to see the animals would be upset by being placed away from something they came to see. I saw in the area that there were many clean empty tables that they couldve placed us, most of them in there were adults. Time passes and I notice as more people arrive, each hostess/waitress brings them to a table outside the area with no animals and I noticed each group were giving looks and seemed upset that they were placed where they were. They all had children as well and I could hear the kids complaining saying they wanted to see animals. The last group before I left I could see them looking over to see empty tables and I watched as the waitress was observing them and let the other waitressess know. I also noticed that the host/waitress that lead the group to their tables nearest to us! I never heard them say anything about their waitress arriving soon/shortly. The last time I ate at rainforest cafe I had a much better experience, which wasnt here. This was my siblings choice for their birthday and ended up not seeing what they wanted. *bad listening skills from the host and waitresses *poor seating arrangements, could place families with children in the middle to see the animals, while older people can sit on the outside. *thing is we drove 2 hours from where we live to eat here * we paid about $100 to eat and watch people enter and leave the Payless store across the mall, not very fun, especially for children. *No celebration snack or dessert for the birthday, we told about three members of the staff, host/waitress/and we believe the manager after we finished and no one took notice to it 2/10 would not recommend eating here again

From the minute you walk in to this place the employees are hawking some kind of product or service. I know this is a novelty place but seriously, I just want to eat, I dont want to feel like I have another solicitor ringing my front door bell. Next, the menu selections, interesting variety, but the prices are just rediculous. The appeal of this place is to draw in the families with kids, but the prices are outrageous. $14+ for a Reuben sandwich is crazy. I work as a Food Service Manager and Im a pretty good judge of how much meat was in this sandwich, and 3 oz of corned beef was about what was on that sandwich, the Sauerkraut had no flavor the corned beef was cooked directly on the flat top before the sandwich was cooked. This sandwich was dripping with grease, it was inedible. I put dijon mustard on the sandwich and this did nothing to improve the flavor. We waited quite a while for the food, the restaurant was steady, and busy but at no time to capacity so not sure why it took so long to grill a Reuben and deep fry shrimp for 2 tacos. The boys werent hungry so they had 2 icees in a character cup and childrens ice cream sundaes, we had an iced tea, 1, Reuben and shrimp tacos, the bill was over $60. I dont mind paying good money for a meal but when I pay for a sandwich that is horrible and inedible, and I know I can get better at a Culvers for way less, I am troubled by this. I dont believe that I will be returning any time soon.

My family and I took a weekend vacation to Chicago,IL. We are from Iowa. We had our first experience at Rainforest Cafe, 2/22/2014. I have to say the quality of the food was very poor. The pasta was dry, garlic brd was hard, ribs had delicious taste but way over cooked, dry, hard with very little meat, cole slaw had no taste, hamburgers were under cooked (pink) but what was ate of the burgers was good tasting, steak was a little rubbery, dry, and chewy. The Appetizers we orderd were good especially the Onion Rings. The service was average. The server was at our table maybe 4 times. I had to get ketchup off another table. We also had to wait inline after checking in for 30 minutes after our reservation time while other customers without reservations were being seated. We had to speak up and say "We have a reservation" before being seated. The environment was clean, fun and entertaining. We did not complain about our meals due to the fact we didnt want to wait any longer. Not sure if we would return to another Rainforst Cafe in fear we would get the same food quality. We paid over $100.00 for our meal and we could have went to Golden Coral buffet and ate better quality food and spent less.

This was our first time at this Rainforest Cafe but not the chain. We were promptly seated as they were not busy. That and the awesome atmosphere were about the only positives to our trip. It took forever for the server to make initial contact and then we only saw her about two more times after that. She was horrible. Didnt check to see if we needed anything, when she finally came she gave us two seconds of her time. The food was good, but as someone else had said, the adult food came out before their kids food and that happened to us as well. By the time we got the kids food our food was cold and we werent going to eat ours in front of our children. Bring it out together or bring out kids food first. If this was in a normal restaurant situation I would have given 1 (because 0 isnt an option) but because of the uniqueness of the restaurant I gave it 2. Will not return to this location unfortunately, and now I see why they werent busy during a peak time during the day.

We brought our family of 7 here yesterday. One our children has life threatening food allergies, and cant usually eat anywhere outside of the home. We told our waitress that he had allergies, and she immediately went and got a manager. The manager came over and got the list of his allergies, and gave me a GREAT explanation of everything that would be safe for our son. He went on to say that they would use a new batch of oil to make his fries so they would be safe, and made grilled chicken on a freshly cleaned grill for him. They checked the icees so that he could have something special. He didnt love his chicken, but LOVED the fact that the could eat with our family. The service was wonderful, which was the most important thing for us yesterday. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone with dietary restrictions! (The rest of our food was good. :) )
