I have been going to La Palapa for some time. The food here is really great, total to the contrary for the poor service we received this weekend. When we arrived we were greated immediately and the waitress seated us in the inside section. If you have ever been in this place the inside section consist of only a couple of tables enough to be able to see everyone. Needless to say there were only 2 families in this area, so everyone was noticeable and standout in this section. After being seated we waited about 15 min without service, however, all the waitresses kept walking back and forth with orders and trays with food. I finally had to stop one of the waitress and ask if we could get service. She said that our table was not part of her section but she was going to send someone. A waitress came 10 min later, without giving us any explanation for the delay on service she just took our order and left. Lucky for us the food was served within a reasonable time. From this point on our waitress disappeared and never came back. I had to personally get up and get myself another drink, and more sauce. I was helped by a gentleman that had been eyeing our table for a while, little did I know he was the manager of La Palapa. I explained to him that our waitress had disappeared and never came back!!!! He didn’t even bother to give us an explanation or offer an apology. Once done eating we had leftovers and again I had to get up with my plate in my hands to get a disposable container. We had to go directly to the small cash register they have to ask for our bill!!!!! NO SERVICE AT ALL. Our waitress finally appeared so we could pay and I asked her why she had totally abandoned our table. Her response was that they had no waitress assigned to that area, and she was busy with other customers. The waitress explained that she had told the manager this when he sent her to our table. The manager was right next to her, I asked him why we had been treated so poorly, he just stood there like I was speaking another language and ignored me totally as if I did not exist or he did not understand, needless to say I never got a response more less an apology. I understand that this place gets a bit crowded and sometimes it can get very overwhelming, but I can guarantee you that as good as the food is I will never go back. There are many other restaurants that would love to get our business.

I wasnt impressed by the food. Their fries look like the ones they sale at ALDI. The salad they served with my meal it only had lettuce and ONE TOMATO. I odered the suffed tilapia and it wasnt stuffed. It was a tilapia filet with shrimp on top. My husband got the same salad and fries on his order. He ordered la tilapia a la diabla and it wasnt spicy at all. By the way the drinks are overpriced $2 some change for a bottle of jaritos that you can buy it for a $1.50... Then our waitress disappeared for a while so we had to ask another waitress for the check. We had to wait like 5 to 10 minutes for the waitress that dissappeared to come with it. I dont think Im ever coming back. The food was a really disappointing.

La Palapa was my favorite Mexican seafood until January 17, 2015. Beware of their "special instruction" changes on your bill. Example; $5.98 BYOB disposal, which they charge tax on and is not clearly advertised on their property or menu. In addition, their tax suggestions are calculated post-tax as opposed to pre-tax, which is misleading. After our visit, La Palapa charged my boyfriends credit card 4X. His banks fraud department is now involved. Needless to say, I will NEVER set foot in their establishment again. I would like the owners to contact me, so that we may resolve this situation. Fraudulent charges by an employee are unacceptable and the owners must be made aware of it.

I dont even know how to rate this establishment. I use to like going here until a week ago, I went to celebrate my birthday and had dinner there w/ my kids, here I am a week later and the place keeps charging my credit card daily. They have charged it racking up $400--RIDICULOUS. I called the restaurant and they told me, "Yes, we were having issues but all should be fixed in a day or 2." Umm, no, thats not the case, they did however add another transaction to my card. I have to go to the bank close out my card and get a new one issued all because of them. Not a way to conduct a business if you ask me. UNREAL and very frustrating.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LA PALAPA!!!!!!! Ive probably been here about 10 times in less than a year. Ive gone with friends, my boyfriend and family. They all love the place as well. I always get camarones a la palapa and it never fails. The oysters are amazing and are a good size, other seafood places rip you off with their oysters. Its BYOB which is a plus but there is a charge for throwing away your bottle/bottles I guess and they charge it per person. Thats the only down fault. But other than that I plan to continue to go to La Palapa for my seafood admiration and its a good place for your hangovers. (:

The service is good, the fries and tacos are ok. I loved the mussels back when they first opened up. I went back a couple of weeks ago and they are disgustingly greasy. The empanadas are too, those always have been. The paella is so bland and flavorless. The food isnt fresh, you would expect that since we are not next to a large body of salt water like the gulf or the ocean. But still, its not very good. Maybe if your wash it down with the beer. Its like drunk people food. Otherwise, dont bother, there are way better places to get quality mariacos.

We went for Valentines, and were worried that wed have to wait forever for a seat because they do not take reservations, from the outside it doesnt seem that they have much seating, but they actually have 2 rooms for dining. They were very busy when we arrived but we did not wait at all for a table, we were seated immediately. The appetizers and dinner were delicious and the service was amazing. We ordered house specials on the menu. Cant wait to come again.
