Great Espresso, Great Service. I pass 3 different starbucks on the way to this place and couldnt be happier. Ive been working around the area now for 3 years and am a serious espresso (not eXpresso!) connoisseur. Their espresso is one of the best in the area, strong but not bitter, nice warm nutty tones. The best is Swings but these guys are a close second. Very friendly staff, they recognize me and remember my order since I order about the same thing every day. Had a bad cup of espresso from them 1 time, the next time I went back they told me the machine wasnt working right the other day and gave me free breakfast!

Im a java junkie, and Ive tried all of them - starbucks, caribou, pret-a-manger, corner bakery, java city, etc., and, of course, juan valdez. Surprisingly, the juan valdez coffee is smooth, with little acidity. Prices are competitive, and they have a wide range of choices, but the staff is "average". Yet, its popular (heck, its right there in the Organization of American States Bldg! ;) Ive never tried their baked goods, but they seem to have an assortment. I noticed they dont sell whole bean coffee, just ground. So far, I havent seen any rewards program, like with Sbucks (maybe thats bc their coffee is better?)

Ive been to many coffee shops, and i can honestly say that they have the best coffee in the vicinity of where I work. My gripe is that, although their prices on coffee are right on the money, when it comes to their baked goods-OVERPRICED! I bought a walnut cinnamon coffee cake for $3.49 ish and was astonished by the little sliver that i received. It was literally 2 x 1 x 2 (L x W xH) , i was in such disbelief i kept looking at the bottom of my bag to see if maybe there was some invisible piece that was swallowed up by some other dimension. I will not be purchasing any baked good there again.

So I bought a blueberry scone, and they charged me almost 10% over the listed price. I already gave him the credit card, and it was too late o take back. The guy claimed there are different prices for different flavors, although the tag has all the flavor and one price. He just ignored me and gave me my stuff. So make sure they ring up correct charges before handing them your payment. Its really not the price (well, kindda), but its how they treat people who has questions.

Yes, you can order your coffee/espresso/smoothie in Spanish. But if you do not speak the language you can still be transplanted to to South America by having a cardamon coffee and a pan de bono. ( sweet dough pastry with cheese - the staff warms it for you) The seats are comfortable in the cafe and there is enough space but if you want to sit outside, exit the cafe, turn left (east) on F st, walk 100 ft and sit on steps under a Wisteria plant.

After anticipating the arrival of a Juan Valdez coffee shop in my neighborhood, imagine my disappointment today when I stopped by for a double expresso. Both the expresso and the cafe con leche were weak - literally, the coffee was not strong enough. And not hot enough. The desserts were OK - obviously bought from a commercial baker. I could have lived with that, but I really expected good coffee. No reason for me to return.

A decent place, free wifi, ok coffee, nice that there was actually a place to sit and do work for a couple of hours. The service, however, is awful. I asked for a refill (asked to BUY a refill, not to be given a free one!) and the baristas looked at me like I had an extra head and flat out refused to refill my coffee for any price. Very rudely too, I might add! Is it really that strange to refill a coffee?

The Coffee was perfect. Brewed just right; not burnt like Starbucks, and not overly hot. The price is reasonable. My only complaint, the cashier was friendly, but really not with it. Especially for such a fast-pace area. She didnt seem new either, just really in no hurry whatsoever.

Nice people, and I had high hopes for the Colombian specialty coffees. But the iced cardamon coffee was already-weak coffee, with not enough ice to make it cold but enough to water it down more, and only a hint of cardamom. Very disappointing on a hot day.

Excellent place to meet a coworker for a coffee break or a meeting. Not too crowded so you are able to find a good place to sit. I had the black ice tea which was okay but nothing special. Next time I go Ill get a coffee instead.

Comparable to a lot of other chain coffeeshops, with one exception- their coffee with the cardamom and lemon and some other spices... such a good afternoon pick-me-up (or any time of day, really) with lots of flavor.

Very corporate atmosphere (due to location), but delicious coffee and Latin American treats. I had a small iced campesino, a coffee with sugar, cinnamon and a touch of lemon. I want to try the pastries next time!

They make cafe con leche the way my grandmother did, and serve it in a nice china cup! Cosmopolitan atmosphere with people from all over the world to meet and talk too. Much better experience than any Starbucks.

I had the dulce de leche frozen drink called nevado arequipe which was very rich and tasty. My only (tiny) gripe with this place are the really small tables that make it hard to meet friends/coworkers.

Hace falta mejorar en el servicio y enfocarse mas a promocionar la cultura Colombiana

Love their Cafe Campesino. Its rare to find authentic south american and latin coffee drinks at coffee shops in DC for a fair price. I go often and recommend it to everyone.

Serviceable coffee shop in downtown DC not far from the White House. Its usually possible to find a seat. There is some outdoor seating available when the weather is nice.

Great place to meet and chat. In the same building as the Organization of American States, so lots of goodies from Latin America and an occasional conversation in Spanish.

Overly foamed cappuccino with burnt espresso. The cup was filled mostly with foam. Cashier also mistakenly charged me more for a food item than the listed price.
