They changed ownership about 2 years ago and the food went from bland to incredible. I highly recommend ordering from the menu (not the buffet). The buffet is okay, but kind of watery - the food fresh from the kitchen is awesome. The Chicken Tikka Masala is wonderful, as is the palak panner (sp?), lamb vindaloo, and prawn korma. When they say lamb, they mean it. The other indian places Ive tried in the bay use lamb bones with a little meat attached - India palace uses nothing but the lamb meat - I havent crunched teeth on a single bone since the new owners took over. Weve tried multiple indian places throughout the bay and the only other place that comes close to being anywhere near as good is the pakistani&Indian Pakwan in Fremont (and chain location in San Francisco) - but India palace still kicks Pakwans backside. The other indian places in the bay are playing in the kiddie pool by comparison...

Great little jem of a restaurant that looks remarkably unassuming from the outside. Weve been here 3 times now and had a great experience each and every time. If youve never had Indian food before heres the list of what you should order: Garlic naan, Meat samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandori Chicken, Basmati rice, Raita, and Chicken Pakora. This will give you a great mix of savory dishes that are well liked by the majority of people. The servers are always super polite and literally run around while serving all of their guests. Price is reasonable, usually out of here with leftovers for 2 for about 40$ including beers. My only complaint is the check sometimes takes a while to get to the table but its only been an issue once so far and might have just been a busy night. Will definitely be making this one of our regular spots.

The service has improved 100%. While the food has always been tasty, service used to be at the pace of slugs. No more! The host, wait staff, and two gentlemen who seemed to have a higher stake in the restaurant were all friendly, low-key and kind. The food was good. The only recommendation would be that they blot the food they fry a bit more. The papadum, samosas, and onion kulcha were all a tad bit oily, but they were truly delicious. The malai kofta curry was good and well seasoned. In the past Id hesitate to invite friends to eat here due to the slow service, but unless I hit an exceptional night, Id say they rectified all service issues. I felt they were quite attentive and very welcoming. The price is quite fair.

We saw the restaurant on the drive home. Googled it and after seeing a lot of good reviews, decided to give it a try. First of all, it was hot outside and the inside wasnt any cooler. Their AC mustve been broken. Then the freebie bread came out and there was a hair baked into it. After letting the waitress know about it, they didnt even try to apologize. Definitley never going there ever again. Id watch what is inside your bowl.

My wife and I enjoy eating at this restaurant on a regular basis. What keeps us coming back is not the décor, the dazzling cuisine, or the incredible prices. The décor is quirky and dated, the food is decent, and the price is fair. We come back again and again because we like the people who work there and the quality of the food is consistently good. A reliable standby, and there is no better Indian restaurant for miles around.

All of buffet entrees were heated properly, nothing worse than cold buffet items so I weight this highly. Buffet selection is decent but spiced down for western palette. Place is clean, well lit with attentive service. Options for Indian food in Oakland alameda cannot compare to south bay. Given that, this one is worth a visit if in the area.

I love Indian food. I especially love Navrattan korma, chana masala, and garlic naan. This place does all three perfectly. The restaurant is huge and has standard service. Its one of the more "fancy" places in Alameda, but seems more family driven. Theres a small parking lot in the back. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty empty.

Would never go back to this place. Got a long black hair baked into the nan bread and we complained about it and didnt even get a sorry. There was a small bug stuck inside my beer glass too. It was extremely hot inside the restaurant and no AC. Vindaloo wasnt even spicy so no stars from me.

Ive been here several times for dinner and lunch. Its a decent little spot for Indian food in Alameda. The chicken tiki masala is good but not the best Ive ever had. The lunch buffet is also pretty good but kind of small. Overall, this is a good spot in a pinch if youre craving Indian food.

Although we both enjoyed the food very much, it left us feeling extremely heavy. It seemed like like very much Americanized Indian food. Well probably keep looking for another place in the area -- somewhere that seems a bit more authentic (i.e. more intense flavors and spices)

We have been coming here close to 12 years now and I must admit that I love love this place... The BEST INDIA FOOD I HAVE HAD.. Plus the portions that you get is way worth it and besides the place is not that expensive maybe a little outdated but its still the best food Ive had

The food was tasty (though light on proteins), however the bathroom was in poor condition and the moment I started eating one of the staff sprayed Windex on a nearby table making everything taste like cleaning fluid. Not an ideal dining experience.

Over priced ($13 lunch buffet), all the food had different temperatures throughout, and found a beard hair (resemblance to pubes) in my cup of tea , after I drank the entire glass I found it staring up at me. Too expensive for my rice to be cold.

The only Indian buffet in Alameda. They have a medium size buffet that ticks all the boxes, and is constantly changing. The staff is friendly and attentive. Its a pretty cooky set up in a house decorated like a house which adds to its charm.

Is by far the best Ive ever had in my entire life! I mean I just want to lick the sauce off the plate...and I do! Ive been to plenty of Indian restaurants as all of my friends are of Indian descent and this one ranks on top. Check it out!
