The food was outstanding--in our party of 3, everyone loved what they ordered. The house balsamic dressing is particularly outstanding. Id go back just for the bread and salad! My steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well, served with plenty of au jus. Id say their ribeye rivals every steakhouse in the area. The veggie medley was perfectly cooked and very fresh. The service left a bit to be desired. The bartender was friendly when we went in and seated us promptly at a table (there was no hostess, probably due to it being a rainy weeknight.) Our waitress... eh. She was very pleasant and polite, but just was not service minded at all. Drinks sat empty for 10-15 minutes at a clip, and she was so engrossed in her conversation with another waitress at the bar that we couldnt even get her attention to ask for refills. The chef had to pop out from the kitchen twice to call her back to take plates out and had a similarly difficult time getting her attention. At no point were there more than 5 tables in the entire restaurant--none larger than a 4 top--and there were 2 waitresses and a bartender working. Had it been a busy night, Id be more forgiving... but at $100 for 3 people, I expected better service. No complaints at all about the food though. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious, and the kitchen was excellent with their timing. Ive heard that service at the bar is better than at a table--and from what I could see while we were there, it is. The bar manager seems to keep drinks flowing and could be heard calling back to the kitchen (on a phone, theres no yelling here!) asking to rush orders for people who were eating at the bar. Ill update my review if the service has changed next time we go to The Ovalon. Hopefully this was just an off night.

We ran into traffic on I-81 around Hazleton, Pa and after reading the other reviews decided to stop at Ovalon for dinner. I am very glad we did so. The service was amazing. Before we even had to ask, they had drink refills ready for us and extra bread always at hand - a useful thing while kids are waiting for the meal to arrive. We asked about how far the construction on I-81 was, and our waitress didnt know - but then she went and found out from others on the staff and gave us directions that returned us to I-81 after the construction. She didnt have to do any of that. Everything was good. The bread was warm and the butter soft. I had a summer salad that consisted spinach, watermelon, walnut, peach, strawberriy, and Gorgonzola dressed with balsamic blueberry. It was excellent. We were returning from a vacation where we had eaten a lot, so we ordered from the small plates section which was still plenty of food. My wife had something like a french dip but it used a better cut of meat and had lots of flavor and was a good sized portion. Next time Im around Hazelton, I will stop for a meal again.

We had a large party (10 with two younger children) and received great service. Apps were very good, but mild wings were PERFECT! Entrees served timely and all party members enjoyed! Also bread was fresh and served in many different slice sizes! Recommend to all.

This place is outstanding. Great service, great ambiance, great food. I live about two hours away but make it a point to visit here at least once a month. From the Italian dishes, to the steaks, to the seafood, and desserts you cant go wrong. Really.
