Sub Station has been a local sandwich hangout since I was in high school in the late 1970s and early 1980s. From the get-go, I thought these were the best grinders Ive ever had. In the 30+ years that this family-owned restaurant has served the community, the quality has been consistent. The price may be a bit higher than most subs, but the taste and quality is worth every bite. And the variety of choices is plentiful. My fave is #3 on the menu, cappicola, ham, and cheese

This restaurant is in the shopping center right across from the softball field at UCR. It seems to always be run by students and has a good reputation on campus. The sandwiches are pretty good, they come with free banana peppers and carrots. All of the food seems fresh. I typically use the outside patio which is perfect on most days. My go to is the hot pastrami sandwich and is always very good. It is definitely worth stopping by if youre in the area!

Ive been going here for over twenty years and their sandwiches never disappoint. The owner is happy to tell you about different things to try on your sandwich, like pickled cucumber, or I put the yellow peppers on my avocado sandwich. Vegetarian options are good. They have always been friendly and the place is clean and supportive of students. I take everyone who hasnt heard of them before here.

I have been going to SubStation since I was a little kid and it has been my favorite sandwich shop for as long as I can remember. The "Big Dude" is the best sub sandwich I have had. The staff is friendly and the service is great. Orders are filled correctly and in a timely manner. The prices are pretty good also. Expect about $5-$7 for a 7" sub. A must try for anyone who likes sub sandwiches.

This small restaurant has without a doubt, the best subs in the Inland Empire. Rick and his staff are friendly and generous with their portions. My favorite is the BIG DUDE sandwich with a bag of Fritos or chips, and a Big Pickle. Lots of room both inside and out to sit and eat. Ive just decided where Im going for lunch !!! Santa Craig Wilson

No one does it quite like the Substation! Best sandwiches ever! Great family environment and they have been around doing it like this for over 40 years. All kinds of great pics on the walls that document the Subs history in Riverside. All the sandwiches come with these spicy little chilli peppers that are awesome too! Give it a try - highly recommended!

This place opened when I was a freshman at Notre Dame HS and I never managed to make it there back then though I always heard good things. Finally made it there and was very pleased with the menu, food and service. They DO need to add coleslaw to the menu so they can make a proper cold pastrami sandwich (on Rye) but other than that Id recommend it.

They are friendly, good at making sandwiches and taking your orders, but expensive. Anyway, if you live or study around and you enjoy sandwiches, stop going to subway everyday and check out this place sometime.

Big Dude is excellent! They had a problem with soda machine. They gave me another drink while they fixed it. Owner/Manager came out, apologized and gave me a soda to go! Great customer service!

Great local spot for a change of pace. Tons of variety with flavors and types of sandwiches, and the owner is a very friendly guy! They even have a Pokémon GO special at the moment as well.

We get the large size "Big Dude" and split it. We have never found a sub type restaurant where the quality is so darn good. They have been doing this at this location since the early 70s.
