Nice place, simple and popular. We headed to this place on a Sunday morning for breakfast on the way to our visit to lake Geneva. The location is quite interesting - several eateries on either side of a short narrow roads amidst vast farm lands all around. The road and surroundings looked desolate except for the many cars parked around Local Folks. And as we entered we were quite surprised as we could see about 60 odd people enjoying their break fast and having pleasant chit chats - all inside a rectangular hall of 60ft x 20ft, divided into two halves the first of which is also housing the elongated bar counter. Though it was almost full we did get our table in less than 3-4 minutes. The place has a rustic look and an informal touch in its decor - reflected well in the casual mood of the visitors there - the right kind of place where I too do feel at home. We ordered coffee and the local folks special breakfast. They served coffee for us immediately and they came frequently for re-fills. The food was served a bit late - reasonably so due to the sunday load of crowd. But the waitress was courteous enough to apologize for the little delay. I utilized the time to draft this narrative and finally came the breakfast. The food was delicious too and the best part is - its so easy on the pocket. Finally a splendid experience. Would recommend others and we ourselves would revisit for sure.

Avoid weekends here only because of the decrepit old nasty bartender. Mary, i believe. Its a bar/restaurant, and on a Saturday or Sunday morning people sometimes want a breakfast cocktail. Well thats fine and all, but dont dare ask a bartender to play music during, or you will ruin her work experience. I watched this lady throw a tantrum and threaten to other bartenders she was going to walk out if they didnt do something about the music. Keep in mind the music wasnt even close to loud. All of the other bartenders are young so of course they dont mind, but what an annoying, bitter, crab ass. The music is for peoples dining experience, not you to throw a fit over. If music in a bar is too much maybe its time to check into a retirement home and engage people there in a rude manor just because youre old and ornary. Everybody else there is great. The weekday server, kelly is a sweetheart.

Local Folks is the best place for fish or burgers anywhere! I tried several other places looking for something different and new, just to change it up a bit. Not worth it when it comes to fish. Fish must be done just right. Local Folks has it figured out. For under $10 you get all the fish, fried or baked (or combination) that you want. All the fries, mashed, baked or potato pancakes you want. Good bread and really cold beer. I will not eat fish anywhere else unless I am out of the State. Trust me, this is the place. Friendliest help anywhere and fast service. You could not want anything more in a fish fry. Thank God I am only two miles away. See you for breakfast in the morning!

Are all these people for real when they review this place? I was here a couple years ago with family and we had the SLOWEST service in a dirty restaurant with far below par food. We waited over an hour for food and it was ridiculous. If you think that is acceptable, youre wrong. Very disappointed at the extremely overrated place.

Was a decent place. Carpet and seats need some updating and repair. Onion rings were hot and crispy, but needed a bit more seasoning. Had their breaded chicken sandwich and fries. Both were hot and crispy, but especially fries needed seasoning. Staff was nice and friendly. Pricing on items was also pretty good.

Food was great. I had buffalo wings for an appatizer and baked fish with patato pancakes. Was very good. Wife had chief salad. Was good also. Prices were very good. Nice clean and friendly place with plenty of room. Bar looks fantastic. Going back again for prime rib.

Very friendly place with great food! They even make their soups gluten free! Its a bit of a drive from Milwaukee but was worth it. No gluten free beers available but they do have Angry Orchard cider for us GF peeps.

Went here for breakfast and the food was just what we wanted. Good small town greasy food (perfect for hangovers), and cheap! The bar is pretty neat, too. The food did take a while, though.
