Pig Iron used to be a favorite lunch spot, but we’ve been coming less and less over the years. We returned yesterday to celebrate a co-worker’s birthday, and it was just okay. After sleeping on it, I’ve decided that I would no longer recommend it to a friend. Good barbeque should make you happy. Giddy even. Pig Iron lately just seems to be ‘meh’. We had a variety of meats, including brisket, baby back ribs, and pulled pork. They were all just okay. The brisket was dry and a little rubbery. The baby backs were meaty but very soft and without much flavor. The pulled pork was tender, but really needed sauce. All the meat gave the impression of being held for a long time in an oven. There was little smoke flavor in any of the meats. I doubt any of it came off the smoker that day, and that’s not good barbeque. The sides are varied and generally good. We had coleslaw and mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. They’re all pretty good. I’m also a fan of the cornbread stuffing. At lunch, BBQ sandwiches come with one side, and the dinner plates come with two. They don’t offer any of their meats by the pound, which annoys me. If I want ribs, my only option is the lunch plate with a half-rack of ribs and two sides for $19.95. Our tab for three lunch plates, one sandwich, and three iced teas was $87 before tip. Twenty plus bucks per person for lunch is pretty steep, but I’d be willing to pay it for a great barbeque lunch that makes me giddy. Pig Iron no longer fits the bill.

If you never been to Saltlick or Rudys BBQ in Texas, please dont say "THIS IS THE BEST BBQ!" Its not even the Best BBQ place in Seattle. Either way, Iron Pig is definitely disappointing if you were craving some good BBQ. Briskets were dry. Pulled Pork is ok. Ribs are ok. Sweet potato fries were greasy. Spinach casserole was only reason Iron Pig is getting a 2* from me. I hope they learn how to cook tender moist briskets from Texas. I can only hope.. Price is very expensive. You can get $5 BBQ sandwich in Renton that is much better. Portion was satisfying, but I go for quality rather than quantity when it comes to food. Ive been here twice to try different dishes and that will be all the business they get from me until they improve their brisket. (Make it moist and tender!! not dry)

The meats: brisket was dry, the pulled pork was juicy The sauces: vinegar based with a tex-mex flavor, not enough heat The sides: cream corn, the red pepper gave it an extra kick; mashers/gravy is what youd expect; bbq beans tasted like chilli; potato salad was from mashed potatoes and had flavors from tex-mex. Other: pickles that come with the plates were spicy sweet pickles, please just give me dill please, a half slice of bread also comes with the plate, the onions why are these here as well as the banana pepper! If you like tex-mex flavors and vinegar based sauces, then youll like this place. Im a Kansas City transplant looking for good BBQ. Im still on the search and wont be back to this place.

This could be a great restaurant for BBQ but there is an uncomfortable smug attitude among the painted staff. Its pretty clear that if you dont meet their definition of "hip" youre not really welcome here. Also, the food could be better. They come close but IMO dont get over the bar. An OK place worthy of at least one visit to check for yourself. But I question the glowing reviews authenticity.

I traveled to Seattle on business and found this place nearby the conference and stopped in for lunch. It was so good I came back the next day. It is a bit expensive for a bbq joint, but everything in this town seems to be pricey. The atmosphere is low brow, the waitress was exceptional and full of smiles... and the pork ribs... mmmmm.... melt in your mouth fallin off the bone goodness.

$17- for a pulled pork BBQ plate (greens/beans as sides). Pork was dry; beans lacked texture and were overly sweet; greens were pretty good (not overly salty, and cooked perfectly). Portion was fine for a lunch. It was okay, but i will decline the next offer to attend on account of the price.

Absolutely loved it! The BBQ was great but I really came for the fried green tomatoes which I thought were great. Bought a bottle of their sweet carolina mustard sauce. Cant wait to try it at home. My friend lives the cream corn. Sweet tea is perfect.

Sweat Tea. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled Pork. Sandwiches or Platters. In/Outdoor seating. Friendly service. Nuff said :) Free parking in (small) back lot, street parking otherwise. Good for groups. Moderately priced.

$12.50 for a pork sandwich and 1 side is insane to me. What was not insane was the flavor... not a bad sandwich, but the meat was a little wet, and not that flavorful. Service was polite and prompt.

My favorite place for BBQ in the entire Seattle area. The meats are tender, the sides are delicious and the mustard based sauce is the best Ive ever had!

Fantastic ribs that literally fell off the bone. The spicy links had just the right amount of heat and the smokey chipotle sauce was fantastic.

Brisket tender but no flavor. Cole slaw texture good but no seasoning/flavor. Server without basic manners and unfriendly. Wont be back.

Dry, overcooked brisket and BBQ meats. Unimpressive sides. Really had high expectations, but was disappointing.
