I cant speak highly enough about Los Portales. My family moved to Tappahannock in 2006 and it quickly became a regular destination for us. Everything about this restaurant is wonderful. The staff is professional, friendly, courteous and treats you like family. Ive eaten here countless time and never had a bad experience or tried something that I didnt thoroughly enjoy. My spouse and I love Los Portales so much we spoke with the owners about having them cater our wedding. This was one of the best decisions we ever made. Miguel took the time to personally discuss everything he was able to do and brought to our attention many things we didnt think of. The end result was amazing. Miguel personally transported everything to the venue and made all of the food fresh for the 100+ folks at our wedding. Everyone raved about how delicious the food was. He went above and beyond to make our special occasion perfect and I cant thank him enough. I know that Los Portales isnt in the business of catering, however they should consider because they definitely would make a killing at it. If youre ever driving through Tappahannock take the time to drop by and grab a crazy burrito. Los Portales is a step above any other Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to. Im sure youll have a great experience.

Bad experience. Food cold and bland, tea tastes like sock water. Chips were stale and salsa watered down. Wife and i ordered the same meal and they were totally different. Waitress seemed overburdened and not interested in getting order right.It was busy, but theyre in the restaurant business and should be able to handle it. Seems like theyve been remodeling for a couple years now which cramps patron seating. Total disappointment.

Every time I eat here I try to order something new & every time Im never disappointed! They have very delicious food & are very inexpensive! Id rather come here & get an authentic "home-cooked" Mexican meal than spend the same $10 at McDonalds or Burger King for a combo with cold fries! Very well worth it! ❤

Excllent service, clean restaurant, friendly crowd. My chips & salsa was fresh, my shrimp quesadilla especial was delicious, hot and perfectly seasoned. We went there on our first anniversary and it was even better than I remembered! Will be back for sure!

Very good food. Have been to several Mexican restaurants and nothing compares to Los. They have awesome customer service with good prices. Very clean and professional atmosphere. I always recommend. Nobody can beat the authentic homemade taste in my book.

It was amazing we got in there they gave us a table right away the staff is friendly and fast food is amazing and served with in a 5-10 minute ratio and until u get ur food they give u tortilla chips and salsa I would reccomend it to any one

This used to be my favorite place. Tonight however, service was terrible! We waited forever for food. People all around us were getting their food. People came and left. It was crazy! Food was great tho when it finally came out!

The food came out one plate at a time. The fajitas came then after everything else the tortilla came out. So the fajitas got cold. They under cooked the fries on one meal. Worst experience ever in this place.

Awesome food. Awesome service..but close at 9pm?!?!?!?!? On a Saturday? Thats the only downside. Was hitting a movie and wanted to eat after assuming theyd be open. Thats the only downfall.
