Do yourself a favor, and eat here. This review is for midtown eats at the Sandbar, so for the food, not the bar. I will be back for the bar at a later date. The burgers and sandwiches are excellent. I highly recommend the Thai burger, but they are all very good, with a lot of unique options. Midtown Eats just moved into this location, giving them a bigger kitchen and allowing for an expanded menu, which is a good thing. The owner is brilliant at making food. I hope and pray that he is able to replicate the "spirit" of his old grill here. As for the expanded menu, the pizza is the biggest new thing. The toppings are great, and crust is on point. My only negative critique is that the cheese has a texture that I do not like on pizza, kind of the oily plasticy thing that you sometimes get at home using a "pizza cheese" bagged blend. I love making pizza, and would recommend starting with fresh mozzarella and some powdered Romano, and experimenting to get the texture and flavor that best fits the pizza. Anyway, I fully expect the kinks to be worked out, and will be back regularly.

Wow! Were from out of town and just wanted to grab some dinner. Never even been in this town before, so we randomly decided to check out Sandbar. We sat in the the front area, and were waited on and had our food cooked by Hazel. We got the delicious crab dip to start, my husband had the Chorizo sandwich, and I got Teriyaki Boneless wings. The food was FABULOUS! The young man that took care of us did an amazing job, made some great recommendations, and kept our beverages full! The next time were in town, well definitely be coming back!!!

The menu change as of yesterday sucks and times of there menu change is retarded. If you want to order from there "short menu" before 9pm you have to go in the bar. Sucks if you are underage. As for me bar life isnt my thing. Menu that order from is no longer available to during my hours of operation. However I do have to give them some props of there new decors.... The feel of the restaurant is there is another doing a hostile take over. Employees are clearly unhappy and feel of area is rather on the low. Oh well

to all people wants to go there and drink,,be sure you check your bills how much the cost and the tax,, my bill before taxes is only 72$ after tax is $110 wowwwww ,,and when i asked them they said the tip is included,,?? this is not only once ive been there but lot of times with my wife ,,but this time my wife spotted our bill,,we gave them everytime great tip so it means we gave them too much,,,,,,will never go back

I was visiting Newport News and this place happened to be right down the street from my hotel. I was traveling solo so I planned on going in and out. Thats exactly what I got. Its a hole in the wall kind of place but I enjoyed my trip here. The bartender was super friendly and made sure I was taken care of. The food was just okay but they had a draft that I really like. I would go back.

First time here. I had a lamb sandwich with goat cheese. It was so good. Pink lemonade wasnt overly sweet. Turkey on the salads were as fresh as could be. I would suggest trying their special in house chipotle ranch dressing with your salad. Indoor decor was interesting. From the book stacks that hold some tables up to the guitar that looks like it was made straight from the forrest.

Had a negative experience down the street with a competitor (restaurant that stopped serving food and only offered alcohol) Not cool! Called and found out not only are they open, they are serving food and have a great staff with a great attitude.. Who doesnt wanna eat before they drink and party? Great service.. Good food.. Karaoke.. We will be back..

Waitress okay, food meh, price not to bad, singing awesome, smoke ooh lots of it. If your looking for a dive bar with pool table, best dart players in the World and some cold drinks this is your spot. If you dont like the smell of smoke this is not your spot. Night all. It was fun.

Dont be deceived by the outward look. THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I ordered their philly cheesesteak and I must say its better than any other cheesesteaks I had. Better than subways and quiznos. I can almost say its as good as Patts and Ginos up in Philly. Highly recommended

The service was awesome and the food was the best Ive had in a long, long time. Driving into the park place was a little scary but dont let that fool you. This food is so good and my husband and I will definitely be stopping by and getting a sandwich or two to take back south.

Midtown Eats has paired with the Sandbar and now offers some great, fresh and interesting selections in addition to pizza, subs, pub grub, etc. We got a Mediterranean wrap (huge) and a nice salad with grilled chicken. Both were fresh and tasty! Very helpful and friendly staff.

Kinda mad because every time I come here the are always bugging u for money and tryed to get a beer they are talking to someone and ignore u wish my service will be better next time and dont like the rude ass bartenders

The Sandbar had extremely poor wait staff that stood around chit chatting instead of paying attention to their customers. The food there used to be good but this time was only so-so. Im afraid I wont be returning.

Spectacular food every time. Brunch and lunch has no better spot. Burgers are epic and the Redneck Benedict is amazing. Chorizo sausage gravy on a pork tenderloin and a piece of cornbread. Amazing

First time visit. A simple roast beef sub. Even with their remodeling going on, service was fast, friendly, and correct! Great sub. Definitely worth another visit!

Smoking bar with a wall of dart boards a pool table and most nights a karaoke dj. Something like 18 beers on rotating draft and the longest happy hour I know.
