We live locally, and there arent many Indian restaurants in these parts. A Taste of India used to be a good spot to get decent Indian food without having to drive to Irving. However, Im not sure if theyve recently changed ownership (or something) as its been awhile (maybe about 9 months or so since we last ordered take-out). This time...it was not good at all. A waste of money. We ordered chicken tikka which was a light yellow color (??) and not the red/orange we were used to with the slightly charred edges (yum). The saag paneer (although spicy as thats how we ordered it) was very blended (like soup or baby food texture). No chunks of cheese, and no evidence that this was actually ever spinach. Very disappointing!! The chicken vindaloo was oily (and the contents would not stay emulsified). The serving sizes were very small. And the prices are not cheap. What used to be a good Indian restaurant has gone way downhill in the quality (and authenticity) of its food. Its never good when you walk into an establishment that serves ethnic food and there are no representative of that ethnicity in sight. We will not be going back there...which is so disappointing because it really is the only game in town!

Wow awful service! We came in here excited that southlake had an Indian restaurant, but left very disappointed and we didnt even get to try the food. The service was so terrible we cancelled our order and left. 1. They did not seat us right away, even though they were not busy and 2 people a younger dude and a woman were not doing anything, so they could have, we seated ourselves, 2. Then we had to ask for a menu which took 5 mins to bring over, 3. We asked if we could have something specially made (a tikka masala with no chicken just add vegetables vegeterian) and the young dude said no, rudely I might add, then he said he would ask and let us know and took the rest of our order, he walked past us 3 times and told us nothing. We needed to know if it could be made to our liking or not, because if not, we would have needed to order another dish. NOW let me say it again they were NOT busy there was only one other table and another booth with people and 2 people working out front, so we should have been taken care of. We ended up canceling our order and leaving. Luckily there is an awesome pho spot next door. Ista I can see why you had no business, because your service sucks...

Im thrilled that Southlake has this LOVELY Indian restaurant to dine at lunch. The little buffet area has a perfect number of Indian dishes to try. The staff is very friendly, and one feels as if they are honored to be dining in their home when they arrive. Everything was delicious and it was a treat to eat here. The complimentary mango drink at the end of the buffet (forgive me, Im not going to try to be an expert here) was delicious and refreshing after some of the spicier items. After leaving, I realized I had failed to end my meal with a glass of Chai Tea and for that I was bitterly disappointed. Again - thrilled to have this place available to eat at!!!! Such a pleasant dining experience! Food was fresh and delicious at 2pm - and I thought to mention that as another reviewer thoughtfully included that bit of information. We had frequented this location while it was Taste of India and watched it slowly go downhill with mediocre food, unwelcoming service and becoming dirty inside. We dined here with skepticism that the name change and management change would have changed anything. Everything has changed for the best!

I love Indian food and cannot bring myself to give anybody serving such ambrosia less than 2 stars, but I was very VERY DISAPPOINTED with my experience. I go in and am seated, everything seems great. When I go to find some food at the buffet, during peak lunch hours, I find that the food is old, lukewarm, and the chicken is scarce and dry. It appeared to me that there were no intentions to replace any of it, as I was there for almost 40 minutes and no dishes were brought out. The servers were sweet, but inattentive. My water glass was empty for about 8 minutes and there were only 4 other patrons in the restaurant. I have been a waiter and worked in restaurants before. There is no excuse for that. I apologize, and I hope that the restaurant improves in the future. I will not be one to find out though. Maybe it was just an off day, and I understand that some buffets have hit or miss days, but my feelings are the same.

So many things wrong with this place. They had maybe a quarter of their tables full, and completely ignored us for twenty minutes. Then they brought our dinners at least 10 minutes apart. The actual food was of decent to poor quality, depending on the dish. The lamb was gristly and tough. The vegetarian dish we got had under cooked lentils (I think), that were crunchy and reminiscent of fish bones. One dish had whole cardomom pods in the mix, and it was like a perfume explosion in your mouth. Never offered us refills on our drinks. The biggest slap in the face was that when we complained about the poor service and the one meal that was inedible they offered us $5 off, thats $5 off a $15 dish that literally we could only take a few bites of. Save your money, go ANYWHERE else.

The food is terrible. As an Indian I am obligated to protect others who are not Indian from this terrible atrocious restaurant. The Dal Curry was just a lump of lentil with absolutely no salt at all. The Bhaigan Bartha was terribly sour. The Aloo Mutter had no Aloo(potatoes) and mainly consisted of peas and carrots (the frozen kind). I was actually confused and thought I had the wrong order. The chicken tikka masala was decent but had only 6 small pieces of chicken. Fish masala was completely bland even though I had requested medium spicy. To top it all off, when I called the restaurant to report their ridiculous preparation, I was met with no answer. The phone just keeps ringing. These people should just close the place because it is hopeless. Of course, it cost over $90.

Ordered food to go through Eat24 app and went to pick it up 30mins later. The restaurant never got the order because their equipment was down. I ended up waiting another 30mins since they had to make everything. On top of that they ran out of what I originally ordered. No one cared I was waiting there or even aplogized for the inconvenience..They didnt offer me anything to drink.....Not even water.....Yet the few customers who were in the store were being served well. After my order was completed they still missed out on my side dish.....The raita which I paid for was not enough for what I paid. I had to make them give me more. Worst customer service ever. I will not be going back. The only consolation was Eat24 fixed the situation afte I complained to them.

This is the worst indian restaurant I have ever been to in Dallas. I dont think they know how an Indian food tastes like and what they serve. The price is rediculously high for what they serve. I tried a curry and some Naan and when I was not satisfied with the quality, I ordered Dal(lentil soup) which even a kid can make much better than what is served here. I would recommend visiting this place only if you have a lot of money to waste on not so good food, specially when you have so many other food options around in Southlake. If you are really craving for Indian food, I would recommend you drive to Irving which would be worth your money, than eating at this place. I am never having food at this place, ever.
