I love the cute vibe of Liberty Bar. It feels like youre stepping into a neighbors house and its perfect for a lazy Saturday morning brunch. The menu has a lot of Mexican-influenced items, if thats your thing. The french toast is great. Perfectly dense, not too sweet, and unique enough that its actually worth trying. Its definitely on the small side though, so probably not sufficient as an entree. And the half portion is kinda pricey for the couple bites that you get. I got the omelet of the day, which was a veggie omelet, and asked the server if they could add the boar sausage to it. The omelet was light on the veggies but still good, and the sausage was juicy and well-seasoned-- not too salty and just overall well-balanced! The entree came with a small portion of roasted potatoes and a couple triangles of toast with jam. I loved the toast! I dont know what kind of bread it was but it was on the chewier side, similar to some gluten free breads and pancakes that Ive had in the past. Like... bread infused with a hint of mochi texture. "Chewier" makes it sound gross and weird, but I promise it was good! Im not sure what kind of jam they brought out either (sorry), but it was also good! Not too overpoweringly tart or sweet. The surprise was finding out that my breakfast (omelet and a 3-bite serving of french toast) was $30-something because my small side of boar sausage that they put in my omelet was $12.50... more than the entire rest of the omelet itself! I guess boar is an exotic meat so it costs a little more? But still definitely on the steep side. I would have appreciated it if the server told me how much the side of sausage would be, but I also could have asked when I requested the modification. I guess I just didnt think it would be more than a few bucks. Oh well, lesson learned. It was tasty, after all, but nothing super duper unique so to me, not worth the upcharge. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the food at Liberty Bar, especially since Im not usually a fan of Mexican food and was a little skeptical, but the food was fresh, clean, and overall pretty mild so keep Liberty Bar in mind the next time youre looking for a brunch spot in SA!

We were so excited to go to dinner at the new Liberty Bar. We had always enjoyed the food and drinks at the old location, and were very excited about the new one opening in our neighborhood. Made a reservation for 7 of us to celebrate 2 Birthdays, which I told the girl when I called. The Birthdays were ignored, which wasnt really a big deal, but the service and food were really disappointing. The service was extremely slow and we waited a very long time for our drinks to arrive. We did not like the frozen margarita, and it arrived with salt despite the fact that we had ordered without. The mixed green salad ($6) was plain, small, and tasteless. The waiter recommended the Puntas Nortenas and the Pot Roast, and highly recommended that we order their homemade corn tortillas to go along with the Puntas Nortenas. The tortillas were store- bought, at an extra charge, the Puntas Nortenas were missing the gruyere cheese, and the meat portion was very small. The pot roast had very little flavor, floating in a thin broth with vegetables. The only positive note was the lamb sandwich, which was very good.

The new location is pretty nice, but the parking is a bit awkward. By the time we noticed the chalkboard sign reading, "Liberty Bar," we had passed the driveway to the parking area. We circled the block, found our spot and noticed there was additional parking across the street. The curb appeal is lacking a little something... we didnt feel that grand, "Welcome," but Im sure its still a work in progress. We were greeted and seated in a flash. (Kind of missed the slanted walk to our table). Ordered our usual appetizer (Goat Cheese w/Piloncillo Sauce)... and... YUMM... it didnt disappoint! Tried the Salmon... it was delicious. The Ceviche on the other hand... not really worth it. 1-Cup of ceviche with a plate FULL of chips... not what we expected. The Coffee... PERFECT! The Serivce... PERFECT! All in all, we were happy campers! The Liberty Bar is still on our "Favorites" list! :-)

We were impressed with the Liberty Bar. We went for brunch, and the food was very good as was the service. I ordered a brunch plate and a half order of their french toast. The scrambled eggs were some of the best Ive had at a restaurant in terms of flavor and texture. The rosemary potatoes were delicious, and the house-made toast and jam (particularly the jam) was extraordinary. I also had some wild hog sausage on my plate, and it was definitely a treat. Expensive, but worth it. The french toast was soaked for 48 hours and topped with fruit. It was great - much like a slightly savory bread pudding. The wife had a special of the caprese sandwich with house-made potato chips. Both of these were great and the sandwich was very fresh, filling, and flavorful. In short, Liberty Bar did not disappoint. There is some stiff competition in South Town, and this place can definitely hang.

Thank you, Liberty Bar! On July 3, 2014, my daughter and I hosted a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law, She is from South Korea, and her mother was fortunate to be able to fly to San Antonio from Seoul, South Korea, for the shower and the wedding on July 5. The staff at the Liberty Bar was so gracious, Gina Torres, the event planner did an outstanding job, and Dwight, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for this event. They even had fresh flowers for us! The food was outstanding - delicious! And all 15 people attending the shower raved about the mini chocolate cakes and the pink champagne! The ambiance of the downstairs dining room was perfect for the bridal shower! Thanks to everyone at the Liberty Bar!

Our server was terrible. Told us he was getting us dessert menus and just disappeared. He did manage to take our order and forget to place it too. Some guy with glasses and a pig tail. Our new server who saw that we had not been served at all finally took our order. However, they forgot to bring the salad. When they finally brought the salad, they forgot the dressing. They did take it off the bill but it was still very poor service. The bread served was also stale. Definitely not a date place. It was very hard to have a conversation because it was so loud. The ambience is decent and the main entreé was good. Overall, it was not a very good experience. I would probably not be returning.

This restaurant is known for its former location, in a slanting house on Josephine Street. Locals were counting down the days until the building collapsed (it hasnt yet), but Liberty Bar moved. The new Liberty Bar is located in a large house, which adds to the intimate, homey atmosphere. The food is good, but not the best in San Antonio. I would go for a good lunch or dinner, and the brunch is great. The prices are reasonable. The new location is actually really nice-- I recommend taking a walk around the King William District neighborhood for a look at the wonderful craftsmanship and old Southern style of the homes. Accessible parking lot as well.
