My family had a small reunion in the banquet room this past Saturday. I have eaten at this location several times through the years and always enjoyed the food. This weekends display of every salad, entree, veggie and dessert options were as if a food stylist had come in to place everything in its perfect spot. Everything looked so delicious and everything on my plate was something I wanted seconds and thirds of once I got back home to Lewisville about 40 miles out! You can taste the love of each recipe and the southern hospitality in heaping spoonfuls. The lovely music being played on the grand piano in main dining room really bumps up the experience. Classy place to experience how things used to be done AND how things still need to be done in our current day and age. Enjoyed every moment I was there.

Starting with the lady in the salad area, she was very friendly & prompt. Some of the veggies were cold, and the baked cod was cold & dry. The mashed potatoes were great, and the iced tea was better than ever. Today, the servers on the line were to busy talking to each other to serve the customers, in fact some of the servers were standing against the wall with their hands folded in front. It was one servers birthday and she had money attached to her clothes. She took time to explain why the money was there so many customers gave her more money which she put in her pocket. The cashier was very nice, and was not the regular lady. Linda was the lady on the floor. She came to my table and other tables, and was friendly & prompt. Thank you for Linda, the Lady at the salad bar & the relief cashier.

Ive eaten with the HPC for about 40 yrs on Knox St. It was the best place in town for the cafeteria experience. Now that it is under different ownership on the other side of town, Ive not been able to go as often. Most all my review is positive for this wonderful old establishment. All except that loudmouth piano which gives me a headache. If they would only soften the thing, it would be a much more pleasant experience. Everyone I take with me feels the same way and cant wait to leave. (Soft music aids in digestion in case management there does not realize it) .That is my only complaint and I really wish HPC would do something about it. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME... !! or stop the thing altogether....lol

Mothers Day rip-off! The website did NOT mention anything about the price increase on Mothers Day. When we got there on Mothers Day, they just had extra signs here and there about Mothers Day specials without covering up the original choice plate price and the select plate price, so it appeared as if there were more choices on top of the original choice place and the select plate. We were forced to purchase the expensive special which came with a piece of pie none of us wanted. There was a big sign about prime rib, but they were out of it. The manager said he would bring up the issue at the managers meeting and call me back. However, i have not heard from him. I want my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very good food and most service. Busy sunday afternoon, table clean up and help staff slow, probably not enough staff. We got food, dining area tables had only one very small table for 2 persons. Had to stand around and walk around and wait for a table. The few table servers ignore people waiting for tables, and go around running errands for seated diners. Many tables with dirty tables not cleaned, and slow to clean, as people left. Not much fun to sit dining, while near by tables piled with dirty dishes left by others. We will not return for that reason. The pleasure of nice dining is ruined by such poor table service.

The food is southern style home cookin. Lots of butter and goodness. Yes there are many elderly, yes the Presidents are on the wall, and yes the tea is perfect! I support businesses that take pride in their country and their history. They have kept their recipes the same for over 30 years and it works. The service is great- Linda is a great server- and the desserts are yummy. If your complaint is about the price look for a coupon or come on a night when theres a special- like kids eat free. Good service and good food at a great place. Its down home southern style that cant be beat.

I have gone to this cafeteria for many years but as of lately, the meat (turkey, chicken) has so much gristle, I feel I am wasting my money. When I spoke to the owner he said that it was impossible to not have that in their meat since they feed so many people. And the staff use to be so nice. But a few times I was glared at by a couple of people behind the serving line while I was deciding which food I wanted. I lost my appetite and decided it wasnt worth going back. I like the new Pei Wei much better and I have not eaten any gristle in their different meals.

I have to be honest it really wasnt the best. After my friends raved I couldnt wait to try it. My chicken fried steak was burnt and small. The tossed salad and potatoes were good but my daughter only ate her Waldorf salad and some corn she didnt like the chicken tenders at all. I thought it was over priced for what I got. I went with a group of friends and probably wont go back again unless I am with them. A plus note the cookies we got (which were mis-marked) were really good!

A great neighborhood place with a menu (cafeteria selections) that are as healthy as you want them to be. It tastes like all their food is fresh and homemade. The staff is always friendly, and its always clean. Live piano music - you cant beat that! Great place for meetings. The cakes are amazing. And if you have to wait in line, you can learn something about our US presidents.

Always a great experience. Wonderful food, friendly staff, ample parking during lunch crowd. In addition to the large dining area, there are 2 separated rooms that are great for your organizations meetings. HPC caters large events as well as smaller parties. Highland Park Cafeteria is a staple in the East Dallas Community, and Im thankful theyre here.

The worst food EVER.. everything was cold and dried out. Fried breaded chicken was so dry I choked... my husband got a vegetable plate and the the bread dressing was awful.. We were there around 4p and the food was leftover and NOT warm or FRESH. A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. ONLY good thing to say that servers were pleasant !!
