Nice little place with friendly attentive staff...but my review is on my sandwich. After hearing a place in Austin had a traditional Jersey sloppy Joe I was pretty ecstatic, but after having one here I had to write a review on it. I was served a joe with the most watery, course, coleslaw Ive had on a sandwich or otherwise. The bread on the sandwich was so saturated it completely covered the plate in cole slaw juice. What surprised me more than that was the lack of any Russian dressing used. There was just about three slices of turkey on it which was the real kicker for me on giving this review two stars... The only real good thing about the sandwich was the cheese and the rye. The thing is I really wanted to like this place, but at the end of the day I was served bread and some watery coleslaw for about eight bucks. Perhaps there are other sandwiches that are more on par with the current rating of this place, but Ill have to see for myself some other time.

NeWorlDeli has some seriously delicious sandwiches and probably one of the best tomato soups Ive had in Austin. After driving past the cafe for several years without visiting, I finally decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. As a huge fan of sandwiches, Im always happy to find a new deli in my stomping grounds. Since it was my first visit, I opted for the "Award Winning" Reuben. They should probably add "gratuitously large" into that name somehow because holy carp is that a lot of food. There was easily an inch-and-a-half of meat (so good) with another half-inch of sauerkraut (excellent). The only thing I would change is the bread which got a little soggy from all the juices. Im pretty sure if anything else were added to this sandwich it would collapse inwards upon itself and form a black hole.

So I came in lured by the promise of my search for the elusive perfect Reuben as theirs has supposedly won awards... Well, I am sad to report, while moderately delish, it was by no means "award winning" imho. I had their original version as I had had the altered w/coleslaw version prior, and while both were decent, they were by no means lifechanging nor worthy of the $8+ pricetag for JUST the sandwich (plus a sliced dill pickle). Very cool space though, and depending on who you get the staff can be either friendly or stuckup, so flip of the coin I suppose? May or may not go back...their chick salad looked tasty!

Theres no need to order a Reuben sandwich anywhere else in town. The best Reuben is at New World Deli, which happens to be an adorable deli in Hyde Park. I love the globe decor near the windows. The best table in the house is that spot by the window, where you can watch cars whiz by on Guadalupe and ponder what excitement might be occurring at the Austin State Hospital across the street. I hear they still have old psychological equipment down in the basement there. Its very Return to Oz. But I digress. The curry chicken salad sandwich is really good, too.

I stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon to grab a sandwich for lunch and stuck around for two hours with a cappuccino and my laptop. The atmosphere is nice and laid back, the service was good, and the food was quick and tasty. Theres plenty of space here along with what appeared to be a decent number of outlets and free wifi for your internet devices. This part of Guadalupe may not be the center of the action, but if youre in Hyde Park or nearby, check the New World Deli out, its worth the detour.

Deelish! I have become a frequent patron of New World Deli. It is a neighborhood spot where everyone knows your name kind of place. You are always made to feel welcome by the owners (Greg + Sarah) and/or their daughters. The food is outstanding. From fresh coffee drinks and breakfast tacos to gourmet deli sandwiches and salads. I recommend the curry chicken salad sandwich on wheat (toasted of course), or should I go with the homemade hummus sandwich??

This is a great lunch place. Casual deli atmosphere and very friendly service. i would feel comfortable bringing my laptop and working through lunch.Ive never been disappointed by a sandwich. I tried the Reuben, the curried chicken salad, and the salmon burger. Reuben and salmon burger are exceptional. Its reasonably priced for good quality food in Austin. Would like to try the soups. I hear they are really good and made fresh every day.

In an unassuming location near 45th and Guadalupe lies a gem of a deli. A small parking lot also beckons you inside. Order the pastrami on rye with beautifully, buttered toasted bread and a mound of delicious, peppery pastrami. Maine Root sodas are available on tap including unusual flavors like blueberry and ginger. This is my go-to place for a relaxed, Saturday afternoon lunch without crowds, but with delicious sandwiches.

Food was excellent, and the chef even came out to ask how it tasted (it was a slow evening). I know were in Austin and live in the "live music capitol of the world" or whatever, but I dont want to listen to a bunch of hippies on stage strumming their banjo while Im indulging in some gastronomy. Considering that it was exactly cheap, it irritated me I was paying to listen to hippies while I ate. Just my two cents.

What a great deli! You cant go wrong choosing between this and Little Deli. Even though the outside seating, and prices are both better at Little Deli, I think overall I prefer New World. If only because the sandwiches are a little bigger, and the Eggplant Parm here is my favorite sandwich in Austin. The Reuben is great as well; just make sure you get a fork because it is spilling out! This is a good thing.

Spent WAYYYYYY too much money on lunch here....and got it to go...BIG MISTAKE! Tasty enough sandwich, but not enough turkey to warrant the price tag. My wife enjoyed the eggplant sandwich, hence the 2 stars....I thought it was a rip off. Also- you cant put shredded raw carrot on top of Italian Wedding Cake and call it carrot cake....WTactualF? Never again.

I had the veggie burger, which reminded me a little of falafel. It was very tasty. This is the type of place I wouldnt mind having within walking distance of my office. They offer live music as well, which is a little too loud for such a small place. I couldnt understand anything anyone at our table was saying. It makes dinner a little awkward.

Been coming here for at least 15 years. Its a great little family-owned deli with several tasty options (I love their meatball sub, Reuben, and soups) and excellent service. Theyre always friendly and quick given that they make food as its ordered. Occasionally, youll find a guitar player or small group adding some live music.

This is good stuff. I wish I lived closer. Its going to be a lot harder to go back to Subway or Quiznos. The turkey sandwich was excellent. I like the option to have fries with my meal. Its a nice place to hang out. My friends and I are more than willing to drive across the city to eat here.
