First off, let me say that their house-made salsa is to die for. Ive been to other Mexican restaurants that have downright tasteless, watery salsa compared to this. When even the salsa at a restaurant has this much personality, it really bodes well for whatever dishes may follow. I asked the waitress what kind of chilis were in the salsa, but she didnt know. The salsa has heat but with substance not just for the sake of heat. My dad loved the salad with grilled chicken (he was thrilled to see so much avocado). I ordered the tlacoyos dish with green salsa and grilled nopales, which Ive been wanting to try and finally got a chance to! Today I learned that I like nopales (cactus pads). The tlacoyos themselves were big and fluffy and filled with savory bean preparation. I probably shouldnt have eaten it so fast and taken time to enjoy the flavors, but it was so delicious I couldnt stop. They were topped with fresh crumbled cheese and big dollops of sour cream. And the portions we got for the price were very nice. This Mexican restaurant is not like any other Ive been to thats what I enjoyed most about it. Its been highly recommended to me by a couple of friends and now its my turn to enthusiastically recommend Fogatas to you!

Fogatas at Nolensville Pike is tucked away in a plaza, so it is a little hard to find and might not be immediately visible from the road, but it is well worth the search for the best traditional Aztec cuisine (and also Mexican) in Nashville. The staff is friendly and faithful and the food is reasonably priced (my dinner there cost $11.00, and the portions are so large it was like getting two meals for the price of one). The owner, Caesar, pours his heart and soul into the food at this restaurant so you know anything you order will be delicious based on that fact alone. Though it is not marketed as such, the menu features locally grown and natural fruits and vegetables so you can be sure that what you are ordering is not only good for you and free of pesticides, but also helps to promote a sustainable future. Inside the restaurant you will also discover a juice bar where you will find luscious, fresh-squeezed juices from local and natural produce. I invite you to discover this diamond in the rough for yourself and show your support for this local business by ordering a HUGE glass of their freshly-squeezed chilled cantaloupe juice. (Which is the perfect healthy treat for a hot summer day!)

Outstanding food. Different(in a good way) from the generic Mexican restaurants that dot the Nashville map. Lots of great tasting foods that I had not heard of before in spite of having lived in West Texas for a couple years. Several Aztec dishes, that the owner described to me, that were great. Plus a cactus dish that I found different, but intriguing. The wait staff is very enthusiastic and most speak clear English though obviously fluent/native Spanish speakers. You get actual spiciness with your food instead of the bland fare at other places. Only downside is finding the place if you dont know the plaza very well. It is tucked in a back corner behind a Lowes(close enough I could pick up Lowes wi-fi while sitting near the window facing Lowes), but impossible to see from the road or even 75% of the parking lot.

I ordered a steak quesadilla it came with shrimp!.... I am highly allergic to shell fish! told the server... she recommended just taking the shrimp off (in what world is this okay?) and then she says I still had to pay for it plus a new one without shrimp. The managers would not come speak with us.... the manager said because it was my error he couldnt do anything! They then told us it would be the same at McDonalds! WTF! WE DONT EVEN EAT AT MCDONALDS... THEY SAW A BLACK COUPLE AND ASSUMED THEY WOULDNT RECEIVE A TIP! We always tip over 20% ! Will never return!

As close to authentic as can be found in Nashville. Beware that the staff speaks very limited English so keep communication clear and simple. The food and drinks are suprisingly expensive, but portions are generous. I dont mind to pay extra in this context as you can tell nothing was frozen or came from a can, everything is made by hand from scratch from the salsas, tortillas, refried beans, handcut veggies in the rice, and fresh fruit juices (agua frescas) every detail made with love! 5 stars. I hope the secret never gets out about this little hidden gem.

AUTHENTIC Mexican food. This place is the real deal. I got some kind of spicy adobe bread thing that I cant remember the name of, but it was RAD. PRO TIP: Get the pineapple water. Dont even think about NOT getting the pineapple water. Its basically the whole reason God invented pineapples. He was super confused everyone was eating them, cause he was like, NO, youre supposed to make this awesome foamy beverage out of them! Thank you, Fogatas, for fulfilling Gods plan for pineapples.

i have now been to 16 mexican restaurants in the nashville area. this is the best one so far. the preparation of the refried beans and yellow rice was better than anyone elses. the steak chimichanga was very good but would have been better had the meat been shredded instead of chopped. the pico de gallo was great as was the guacamole. this is the first mexican place i would go back to. the food was anything but bland and had a little heat to it. bravo!!!

Good stuff- when our previous favorite Mexican restaurant changed hands and quality declined and prices rose we tried several others. We dont eat anything exotic, but the other places were dissapointing even for basic dishes. We finally tried Fogatas (two minutes from our house!!) And found our new go-to favorite Mexican restaurant!! Even a chicken quasadillo is delicious there! As usual for Mexican, prices are inexpensive and arrives fast!

Not bad considering Im from south Texas and know what realy Mexican tastes like. This is more of a different Mexican food althpugh its hard to pinpoint where the difference is. Chips were kinda stale but they did have green chili to serve and the tacos were made a bit oddly. But who can refuse cheese sauce poured over it all - yum!!

I wasnt very impressed with fogatas. I had been told that it was the best and most authentic Mexican food on nolensville, but it was pretty much like every other mediocre tex mex place and they had lost their liquor license, so we couldnt order margaritas. They have fresh juices though, so three stars it is...
