We were seated at 6:30 on a Friday evening and were a party of 3. At 6:40, I had to flag a waitress down to even acknowledge us, as no one came to our table to greet us or take our drink order. A different waitress came to take our drink order at 6:45. We decided to order our drinks, an appetizer, and entrees at the same time since we had to wait so long to even be greeted and had a movie to see later. Someone brought our waters 5 minutes later but never our appetizer. We watched as two tables of 8 who ordered after us received their appetizers. 45 minutes after ordering and with no sign of our appetizer (spring rolls), we decided to leave. I told the waitress on our way out we were leaving since we had waited 45 minutes for our appetizer. She ran into the parking lot after me and said our food was ready. I explained it was now too late for us to start eating since this would make us late to our movie. She then yelled at me, saying, "Its the weekend!" I explained Ive been coming here for years and love the food but perhaps 3 waitresses is too little for a busy weekend night. She continued to argue with me as I walked to my car. There were five empty tables when I left, so there was no wait. I cant quite figure out how it took more than 45 minutes for four spring rolls to make it to my table. The food is amazing but the lack of service and the rudeness with which I was treated after leaving for a legitimate reason will be why I never return.

Food was decent for the price. I ordered plates of shrimp w/ mixed veggies and salt & pepper chicken. The shrimp plate was bland because the veggies werent fresh. The salt & pepper chicken tasted good. Although this place has gotten 5 stars, I am giving Asia Kitchen only 1 star because the service was nothing like Ive ever experienced before. I was served by a women wearing white thin-framed glasses who was very rude to me, a mixed Asian, and my Vietnamese boyfriend. She snickered at me when I said that we dont need forks and can eat with chopsticks. When we asked for a boba drink, she was irritated because we didnt know exactly which one since theyre menu is outdated. WE WERE THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE RESTAURANT on a Thursday afternoon. Heres what really blew my mind: We tipped over 15% on our ~$18 bill. I left the cash tip on the table and paid the bill by credit card at cashier counter serviced by our waitress too. After paying and about to leave, this waitress had the audacity to call us back and request a tip. The tip was on the table and in cash so she wouldnt get taxed !!! She was probably rude to countless other customers who decided not to give her a tip. I believe tips should be earned through good service, not expected. Please dont give this restaurant any more of your business unless you want to feel belittled.

The building itself is located just off the highway so it is very convenient to access. There is more than enough parking since it is in a shopping center. Upon entering the restaurant I immediately noticed the fountain and the large fish tank. It adds to the quiet and intimate atmosphere. The music is normally soft asian themed tunes, even though I’ve been there at lunch and they’ve had the radio playing. Every time that I patron sakura I order at least one roll of sushi, mainly because it is hard to find a good place that prices their sushi anywhere near reasonable and on Mondays they have rolls for a dollar which are delicious. The food is wonderful. It compares with the other much more expensive restaurants in the area, not only in taste, but in portion size and the skill in which the chiefs perform on the tepanyaki. I am always surprised by how good the service is for such a small restaurant . The employees are always friendly and do their best to be attentive to anything I may need. Every time I empty my glass of soda a server is at the within a spare number of minutes. I am always going to visit Sakura when I need my hibachi fix.

Its seems that the majority of restaurants that I have been too that are the blandest looking on the outside have some of the best foods waiting to be served up. I went with a group of friends here before we went to the Sunrise Market & we have no regrets beyond not being able to eat more. Our server was not only nice but also helped point us in the direction of dishes that we might be interested in based on what we wanted; ex. hot/spicy or flavorful & herby. We also enjoyed the lazy susan style table making sharing food easier for us all. I will definitely be back with more room in my stomach & friends to share my meal with. Note: Wait to be seated & Pay at the table

SOMETHING HAPPENED It pains me to even give Asia Kitchen an "average" rating vs. a "poor" rating . . . I suppose since a year ago I had several fab meals there on successive days. But, chefs come and go. This trip was for lunch, while all the others were for dinner. Maybe the top chef doesnt work lunches. Tried only three dishes: egg drop soup; chicken hibachi; and, my go-to dish at all Asian restaurants, pork fried rice. Soup: merely poor. Chix: tasty. PFR: quite poor. But Im going back! . . . . without a doubt, to see if I can find the luster on the menu I remember so well and am so fond of.

I went to this restaurant for lunch and ordered 1 large and 1 small mixed drink and some food. The service was terrible, there was only two employees working and trying to serve everyone. After waiting 40 minutes for my food they got it wrong. Then they charged me $22.00 for the two drinks. When I told them it was too much, they said sorry but that’s what you must pay. So I figure for the first drink I was charged $7.33 and for the second drink it was $14.67 oh yea and of course the $13.00 for the food that was not even what I ordered.

2 weeks in a row we came to eat here, we were small parties and we got here with just 2-4 tables in here already. Both times the restaurant filled up quickly and both times we were just about the last table in the place to recieve food. Not sure if its coincidence or what and although the food is kickass the wait times might be too much for a return visit. Being in knoxville 2 years now and we have eaten here atleast 15+ times. Id rate this place a 4/10 only because the food is great and authentic. Service would be a 0

There arent many Chinese restaurants in Knoxville so there isnt too much to compare to. But Asia Kitchen is decent with a large menu that offers a few more traditional or authentic dishes along with American style classics, pho, and hibachi. The food is usually decent, along with good sized portions, but the service can be hit or miss. Dont come here for pho or Hibachi, as there are many better places for that, but if you want more authentic Chinese food this is one of the few choices available in town.
