This last trip was our third time to Wild Olive. The first time, the wife and I shared a bottle of wine, app., two entrees, and dessert. Everything was spot on, we thought that we had found a great go-to restaurant. The second time went, the service was so good that we were talking about it to friends for days. The triggerfish special was good, not great and a little dry (overcooked) especially for the price of $27. Last night was completely embarrassing for us. We have never, I repeat, Never sent back both dishes to any restaurant. The beef short ribs were dried out (overcooked) and the Bolognese was described as dog food. This was totally not expected, we were actually explaining to customers around us that this never happens. I felt like low crawling out of the place when the chef actually came out and stared us down. WOW, not the way to handle that situation. They sent us out the pork chop, which is no longer worth having since it is now pounded flat and overcooked and over seasoned. I still cant figure out why they changed the best thing on the menu. Thank goodness I have replicated the brussel sprouts at home for the Miss. I think that this restaurant defiantly deserves a second chance since we know the owner but the chef decided to show his ego, I dont know when that would be. The managers and staff have always tried to make the customers feel comfortable & No. 1

Wild Olive is a great place to go for an enjoyable evening out. There have been negative reviews given to this restaurant for being loud, and I think thats very undeserving for Wild Olive. The restaurant is boisterous because the servers are chatting with you, youre chatting with the people next to you, and everyone is having a wonderful time. The food is delicious! We were cleaning our plates after eating their bruschetta! There are always great specials, and the food is sourced through farms in the area. Wild Olive is fantastic! Our server was Ray and she took such great care of us. Made sure our wine glasses were always full, chatted with us, and took great care of our food, even when we needed to box up left overs. The manager came over to ask how everything was, and was very hospitable. Go to Wild Olive if you are looking for a great night at a restaurant thats all about delicious food, great ambiance, and locally source food.

Food was good but beware of bar charges. My friend and I arrived for happy hour and dinner. I asked for a house Chardonnay and when my bill arrived at 7:00 p.m., to my great surprise, was charged full price for the wine. I questioned the bar tender and he stated that they did not have a house Chardonnay. We were not informed when ordering. A letter with the bill was sent to the owner but it has been over a month with no reply. There are too many good restaurants that are honest, so I would never return to Wild Olive. Guess you have to ask more questions when ordering from the bar than I did!! I am making an assumption that this is a normal practice for this restaurant. I would have given a higher rating if there had not been an issue with the wine charges.

Visited Wild Olive with a couple of friends for our monthly dinner this week, and I must say, very impressive! The decor was very inviting and the hostess was pleasureable. Our waiter (I hate that I forgot his name) was very well-versed in both the specials and menu options, and came with great suggestions. For an appetizer, we had the calamari, and it didnt disappoint - good to the very last bite! For my entree, I ordered the chicken parm, and my friends had lamb lasagna and the swordfish. Everyone enjoyed their meals! I highly recommend Wild Olive if you are looking for truely authentic italian cuisine. I will put this on my list of favs to dine around the Charleston area!

All a put on act and show for those that dont know what good restaurants and foodie food really are. Totally not worth it. The place looks nice and feels nice but the food, drinks were mediocre at best and certainly not worth the prices charged. We got o.k. food (delivered to fast to be freshly made), lousy drinks (made with sugary low quality "sysco" style premix) and decent but not stellar service. I swear the dessert we had was frozen from a Sysco premade. For these prices I expect quality and craft cocktails and decent house wine, not the junk we got, and fresh quality home made desserts. Save your $$$ if you want nice food and go somewhere else.

We are from Pennsylvania visiting our daughter in Charleston. I read about the Wild Olive in Dorothea Benton Franks novel, Folly Beach" (the story of Porgy House owned by DuBois & Dorothy Heyward of Porgy & Bess fame). We decided to have dinner at the Wild Olive and everything was outstanding from the atmosphere to the service and especially the food! I would suggest having a copy of her novel on display! The book gives great reviews and having experienced it first hand, we totally agree! Not to be missed! Great press!

Wild Olive is, so far, my favorite dining experience in all of the Lowcountry. Yes, that includes all of the restaurants in Charleston. Every dish I have had has been spot on. I almost always go for the bolognese, which is as good as I have ever experienced. If you are looking for an excellent pasta dish, this is the place. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star rating is the speed of the kitchen. The food comes out consistently slowly, relative to other dining experiences. They need to up their game there.

Amazing time! We were seated at the "community table" in front of the bar and it made for the perfect evening. The calamari is the best that I have had and the marinara sauce was superb. I did not bother combining the two. I was fortunate enough to have a venison special and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The staff, especially John at the bar, were very helpful and extremely professional at their craft. If you are on Johns Island this is a must for dinner. Local food, Farm to table Italian.

Delicious! A superb quality for the price. The baked penne is easily the best Ive had anywhere. My wife got a lamb ravioli style dish I cant remember the name of that was equal parts unique as it was tasty. My only complaint is the portion size isnt astronomical, but frankly, no one needs more food than they offer unless youre a body builder or an "excessively sized person". The staff is great and accommodating and knowledgeable, and the environment is extremely pleasant. We will definitely return!

I have been to Wild Olive on multiple occasions and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is amazing. I lived in Florence, Italy for a while and when I came back to the states I was constantly disappointed in the Italian food. However, when I found Wild Olive I was extremely pleased by the authentic Italian cuisine. The ambience is perfect for a dinner date or a special occasion. I highly recommend dining at Wild Olive and enjoying a night out in John’s Island!
