I was so happy to hear that Cupcake would be offering its gluten-free cupcakes on Saturdays as well as Tuesdays! I live in Charleston but often visit my family in Columbia on weekends, and I called in an order to the Columbia Cupcake location for cake pops for my sister (more of a fudgy cake and less icing for the people out there who dont have as much of a sweet tooth as I do - I love all the icing on the regular cupcakes) and a gluten-free cupcake for me. The girl who took my order offered to have my chocolate chip cupcake, which was the gluten-free flavor offered that day, made without chocolate chips to go better with the icing I had picked - bourbon pecan. So nice! I said yes and it was the fluffiest, freshest vanilla cake, and it went amazingly with the bourbon pecan icing. Ive been going to Cupcake for years and it has always been *delicious*; now its even better thanks to the gluten-free cupcakes on Saturdays.

I purchased 12 (a dozen) cupcakes for about $30.00. I got 2 of each flavor. The icing/frosting was either cream cheese or a sad, sugary, attempt at buttercreme. All of the cakes tasted the same aside from the carrot and peanut butter. The Carrot cake tasted like flour and the Peanut Butter cake was EXCELLENT (hence the TWO stars). Ive been here once before and the girl was REALLY nice and the Red Velvet was decent so I decided to return. This time the red velvet was REALLY bad. The cakes were REALLY expensive to be so small and bad tasting. And the girlSSS (yes, there were 3 girls) werent personable at all. Do I think Ill return? No. Would I recommend to my friends? No. The cakes just werent good enough and neither was the service. SMH So sad because I REALLY like cupcakes. Oh well.

Again........ Great girls. Small. Misshapen. Nasty. Cupcakes. If this team were on Cupcake wars Florian would give them and "F" for creativity, "F" for taste and an "A" for dryness. These cupcakes tasted like you didnt even try ladies. The Red Velvet was okay, the first go round, AND ABSOLUTELY subpar this visit. The carrot cake left and after taste, and the black and white left me black and blue. I absolutely hated myself for spending so much money on these cupcakes again. I will definitely not be returning until you have new bakers with new batters. And possibly a new name because what you are selling are definitely NOT cupcakes.

I decided to get the buy 5 get 1 free, and what a waste! My order included the new mojito cupcake, a banana pudding, garnet gamecock( half red velvet and half chocolate), vanilla bean, lemon, and caramel apple. The mojito cupcake was disgusting and tasted like medicine. The other cakes tasted like off brand box cake mix ! Some of the cakes were dry and not moist enough. The icing on the banana pudding tasted better than the actual cake. The best one was the caramel apple, & that wasnt even worth 2.95. Once youve had the best, its hard to downgrade just to satisfy your taste buds.

I wanted to buy everything in the store!!! They have a HUGE selection of sweets, everything from candy to cupcakes to fudge & everything in between! I loved everything I got that day. The cupcakes were amazing & the white chocolate peanut butter balls were to die for!!!!! The caramel popcorn was also a favorite. Do yourself a favor & treat your sweet tooth & tastebuds to something yummy! On a less positive note, the girl behind the counter was competent, but not very friendly. A little customer service & a smile go a LONG way when working with the public.

This is the perfect place to get dessert after a great meal in downtown Columbia. The red velvet cupcakes are to die for! My kids love coming here any time we are in the area. Be aware that the cupcakes named after an alcoholic beverage are, in fact, made with alcohol! My father came to visit and got a mudslide. He enjoyed it, but was surprised! We laughed about it and still joke about going out to "get a cupcake." Sign up for their rewards program and get a free cupcake and points with every purchase.

These ARE fairly expensive and I think they should be priced lower, but one of the best cupcake spots my family has been to in the south (and weve been to a lot because the family loves them). Very friendly, their GF cupcakes are the best my wife and daughter have had anywhere, most of the cupcakes are very flavorful and they offer many unusual and tasty selections. Icing and cake are both great.. Speciality cake ones are even better. This is definitely not a 3.5 star place... 4 plus.

I REALLLLLY hate giving this place a 1-Star because the girl was so nice. However, I ordered the black and white cupcake and it was so flavorless, aside from the "too sweet" icing, I couldnt do that to anyone else. Ive returned several times to try several cakes and even though the black and white was dry the other cakes didnt get much better. Im sorry guys. I have to give you a 1-star. Good luck to you! Id love to keep buying but it keeps getting worse and worse. :/

They had nice service, but the cupcakes were very dry and uninspiring. I would not mind paying almost 3 dollars for a cupcake if it was high quality. They really missed the mark on this because their location is a gold mine for the right business. Another business will run them out if the cupcakes are done with high quality ingredients. A child could make them just as good as they have. Dont waste your money go to a grocery store or local bakery.

This place serves the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. Im usually am not a fan of cupcakes because theyre typical dry and cheap tasting. Cupcake DownSouth has an amazing selection of flavors, with cupcakes so good youll want to cry. Theyre a bit pricey, but worth the splurge! We wouldnt think twice to pay that much for a coffee, whats the difference price-wise when you get the best cupcake of your life?

The cupcakes were okay but way to expensive for such low quality and some were over baked. They were simply average and not worth the 95 bucks I paid for 4 dozen minis and a mega flat top. I try to support local business but honestly would have come out better going to Walmart/Sams. I was disappointed and so were my sisters after I told them the price.

Was really disappointed being that I have visited their location in Charleston....several times!!! This location was not nearly as friendly, and the cupcakes were HALF the size of the ones in Charleston. Think Ill just have mine brought in by family from Charleston....more for the money!

Ive always loved this place but I havent been in a while and then I started going back and I was so disappointed. I use to rave over the red velvet and now each time I go they suck. They are very dry and flavorless. Ive have a new favorite white chocolate raspberry!

Ordered a dozen cupcakes, just because, after a coworker told me we had a cupcake shop in town. The cake were disgusting. We ended up throwing out more than half. Way to waste $30.... Hey ladies... Check your recipes and get back with us. Yucky yucky YUCK!
