I am a frequent customer of the Sweetwater Cafe and each time my grandparents come into town they want to go and enjoy the delicious food. Eventhough the food is outstanding, I am very sad to say that after my experience on Saturday I will never return due to the cold rudeness that my family received from a server by the name of Megan. There were six people in our party and three of us arrived first. When she came to the table she never once said hello to us, she simply questioned where the rest of our party was, as if she was scared that we were taking up a big table for no reason. From the very beginning she treated us like we were a burden and a bother to her. When our food came, she never asked if we needed anything else, she said that we were all set. Im not sure how she knew this without asking? She never returned to the table to check on our food. Our drinks were empty by the end of the meal and when she returned she said that she was sorry, but couldnt see us from around the corner. Im not sure why she never thought to walk around the corner and check on us? The worst part of her attitude came when we received the check. She put it all on one bill without asking us if we wanted it divided and then walked away and never returned. We went to the register and asked her to split the check, which obviously infuriated her. She acted like it was our fault and was completely rude to my elderly grandmother. She put an 18% gratuity on the check and I was very upset with this because I did not feel that I should have to tip her for her attitude throughout our meal. I always tip servers 20%, however, she did not deserve a tip at all. The food is awesome and the other servers are amazing and treat my grandparents wonderfully. However, Megan ruined it for all of us. She should realize that she will never make any money as a server with that attitude!

We visit Folly Beach often, about 12-20 times per year. Today we stopped in at the Sweetwater Cafe and we were sorely disappointed. The grouper sandwich was tougher than a 3 day old chicken breast. I got through that, the mayo was slathered on our sandwiches so thick we could have scraped off a enough to fill a take home bag... so it seemed. My daughter said her hamburger was horrible. The ceiling tiles were filthy and old, the floors had been mopped with filthy water and the water stains from the mop look like textured tea stains I was then presented with a bill with an 18% gratuity scratched below my total. When I questioned the server she said it was very normal to apply this to a party of 6. I beg to differ... me and family have ate at many places in our treks around this nation. My daughters & spouse have seen and been in almost 25 states including NY and we have never been presented with a forced gratuity because there are six of us. The service was good but the end result left a bad taste in my mouth. They need to clean that place up and drop the forced gratuity unless their intent is to have one time customers.

Im not one to ever leave any negative reviews about any place that I go to eat but this experience left me extremely disappointed. I walked in on a Sunday and the place was very busy, so I waited at the front counter to be put on the list for a table. A lady approached me and told me that she would be right with me as she was busy I said ok and continued to wait. A couple minutes later two other guys walk in right past me and the same lady that just a moment ago had told me to wait immediately offered them coffee while they waited for a table and put their names on the list that very same moment. I stared in disbelief, the lady then proceeded to walk right past me as if I didnt even exist. Not sure what the deal was but needless to say the service in this place was terrible. Theres no question I will not be going back ever again

It isnt easy to screw up a simple scrambled egg, but the cook/owner of this place has figured it out. Not only will this slovenly guy (who looks as if he should be under a bridge and not in a kitchen) under-cook your breakfast, when you bring it to his attention politely, he will argue with you at your table in front of your guests. What I learned today; thats how they do their eggs and I shouldnt order them again. Better yet, I just wont go back to this wretched place, EVER. Service was so-so, food was lackluster, the guy in the kitchen or owner/chef?, whatever, is a terrible cook, has a bad attitude, needs a hairnet. Hire a real chef or sell to someone who actually cares about customers and quality. People, RUN AWAY!!! Your chances are better at BK.

The food was good but the service was very lacking. A lot of small things that just led up to a bad experience. The 4 of us were sat at a table for 2. The busboy kept hitting the back of my chair every time he went by and never apologized. The waitress reached in front of your face to hand food to another of us instead of taking a step over and placing food down. When taking the order I said i wanted exactly what my wife had, no changes. Then she proceeded to ask me by item what I wanted. The list goes on. We wont be going back.

It was just okay. We arrived at 9:00 AM. Seated immediatly. One Restroom for everyone, male, female and staff. Line for restroom is in the path of servers and people waiting to be seated. Our Server was not very patience when it took us time to read the menu or when we ask for anything else once our food arrived. We had only been there once a year ago. There was 7 in our party. Food was great but staff looked stressed out. Well try somewhere else to end our Folly Beach vacation next year.

Been here a few times... Wanted to give it a for shot... Some items on the menu are decent. I liked the French toast and the fried green tomato omelette was good. The bacon is super rubbery and reminded me of a military chow hall. The hash browns were regality as disappointing. The service was just ok as well. Its funny that this place is always crowded... Its really not that great. There are better places to get breakfast.

The food is usually ok. I had a pretty amazing fried green tomato omelette on my last visit and a raspberry latte made with almond milk which was very rich and enjoyable. I like that they offer different kinds of milk for their coffee! Most if the time there is a wait, limited parking, and I havent been overwhelmingly pleased with the service and prices.

Superb various coffee lover drinks, breakfast was spot on. I had the Farmers Market Omelette and the wife had the Crabcake Benedict. The kids loved the delicious cheese grits and the fresh fruit. Great breakfast spot, will definitely go again this week while on vacation at James Island County Park. Also, the waitress was extremely courteous and prompt.
