Horrible service; great food. I dont think they like tourists and/or young people here. Our server was annoyed we didnt know if we wanted to sit inside or outside. She came to the table exactly 3 times: One: to ask our drink order Two: Bring waters, get food/beer/wine order Three: Drop off the food. She put my wifes plate in the middle of the table and left without saying a word She did not check back on us at all thru the lunch. She did not come back when we were done eating. My beer sat empty, and I wouldve ordered another one (and dessert) if she had come by. And its not like the place was full. It was lunch time on a Wed and maybe 5 tables. I normally tip 15-20%, but this dark haired old lady got 8%. But she might not be bright enough to figure out why she only got that much. My wife claims it was the best veggie burger shes had, and the apples as a side were a nice touch. No draft beer, but good selection of national beers. The reuben was dripping with juices (this is a good thing) with lots of cheese on light rye (well-buttered) with a side of purple rice/onion. We really liked the food, but would never return due to the bad service.

This is a nice little place. The menu is half American and half Vietnamese selections, as the owners are from Vietnam. Dinner and Lunch were great here, but dont fall for the Brunch or any Breakfast items. Brunch is barely more than a few scrambled eggs added to a light lunch menu. Also, Eggs and Pancakes here are DEVOID of flavor. Literally... I have no idea how they removed flavor from eggs, onions, bell pepper, cheese... or even fruit in pancakes, but they did. Pancakes were like air filled wet styrofoam. I would go back for dinner again, although a little over priced for portion sizes, but never for anything on the breakfast menu. Wait staff is pretty attentive though, so they do have that going for them.

As far places in Milford goes, this is definitely one of the nicer ones. The food is rather good, and the places is nothing short of charming, especially if you can get a spot on the deck on a cool summer morning for breakfast. Just be careful with the coffee. For such a nice place, I cant figure out why the coffee has always been so abysmal. Thats not to say its undrinkable, rather that for a place like this it should be much better than just passable. Take a tour of the waterwheel after youre done. Its a cool bit of history.

Though the name is accurate: bar, bakery, cafe; this may be the one of the only restaurants in Milford who consciously makes healthy lunch/dinner food, with even vegetarian options that are pretty darn good. The other thing they do are various Vietnamese/ South East Asian type fusion-y food. I think the chef is old world Vietnamese. Nonetheless, a very good option to consider in Milford.

The cafe & bakery are a wonderful place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The interior is cozy and weather permitting you can sit outside on the covered porch and enjoy the view. The bar, which is open in the evenings, is another thing. If theres a jazz group playing, its OK, but otherwise, aviod the place. The selection of wine, beer or spirits is dreadful.

I have had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks at the bar. I have always had a wonderful meal in a comfortable atmosphere. From The Hungry Bear Breakfast, chicken salad wrap and the filet of beef everything is amazing. The live music is always a treat. The staff is always cheerful and willing to serve your needs.

They take great pride in their food and service and it shows! Great experience and the food is delicious. I can highly recommend The Waterwheel without reservation...no pun intended! Enjoy. p.s. This should really have 5 stars, either someone was having a bad day or possibly it was a competitor...go figure.

Incredible food, wonderful pastries and desserts, friendly waitstaff, a beautiful, historical building with a visibly functioning waterwheel and wooden cogs spinning slowly behind glass. Outdoor seating, a pleasant view, vegan options, near antiquing and little shops. Nearly perfection.

The Waterwheel is great. Something luscious and creative for everyone in our party- and we had vegetarians, vegans, carnivores and kids. The staff is gracious and helpful, and the atmosphere is cozy and so inviting. We love the Waterwheel Cafe and recommend it enthusiastically.

This place is absolutely amazing. We were a bit hesitant when looking at the dinner menu with it being Vietnamese but am truly grateful the waitress didnt steer me wrong with my selection. Everyone in our party really enjoyed our meals. Definitely a place to come back to!

We got here for lunch just as they were closing down the kitchen for a few hours before opening again for dinner. Even though we were the only ones there, they kept the kitchen open to take all our orders. The food was yummy and the outdoor porch seating was really pleasant.

The food is always amazing! Sometimes there is a wait for brunch, which doesnt work well with little ones, but totally worth if if you can hold out. The nights with music at the bar are the best around. Great vibe and fabulous drinks and wine selection

The food here is pretty good. Had a tuna salad sandwich with anchovies and olives that was really good. Wanted to try baked goods but didnt have much room left for them, they look good. Service was fast and friendly.

Favorite place to eat in town. A gourmet lunch at an inexpensive price. Atmosphere is great in the cafe and the bar is nice on Thursday & Friday nights when there is live music. Highly recommended!

Awesome Blues night on Thursday. The place rocks and everyone can play. I think this kid Jarred was born with a guitar in his hand. If you arent there then you miss a great time.

I am from out of town, but I love this place and try to visit at least once or twice a summer. Service and food is great, and the ambience is just right for a relaxed breakfast.

The food here is yummy. Breakfast is very affordable. The wait times are a bit outrageous though. And, the chef sometimes will get things wrong, i.e. food choices and swaps.
