The Savory is a small, tucked-away gem. So called fine dining can be a clichéd experience-- haughty wait staff affecting cultured accents, self-consciously bizarre dishes, and inflated prices. But this restaurant, occupying the former stable of the long since vanished Seisholtzville Hotel, is unaffected and straightforward. The tariff seemed a trifle steep to us (we usually hit inexpensive ethnic eateries) until we considered that our made-to-order vegetarian dishes consisted of at least a half-dozen elements-- a lot of labor and ingredients for about 24 dollars. If you arent into eating meat and fish, dont be put off by all the livestock and seafood on the menu-- if alerted when you make reservations, the owners will put together an improvised feast. Our daughter, who has checked out many vegetarian and vegan restaurants while living in Philadelphia and the DC area, declares the Savory Grille her favorite. Yes, the seating is cheek by jowl, but we found that to be cozy and convivial, not crowded. The service isnt lightning quick, but assuming you want to carry on a conversation with the people at your table, the pacing strikes us as an asset. And the background burble of conversation was far better than piped-in light jazz or easy-listening oldies. No beers on tap, but the bottled selection is good and the cocktail list is highly inventive (we went for a gin Martini incorporating plum wine and violet liqueur, with the rim dipped in lavender sugar). As we dined my wife took three pages of notes on the ingredients, trying to figure out how to approach our vegetarian dishes (both were distinctly different) at home, but thatll be a stretch for us. All of which is to say that the Savory is highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I decided to go here for our date night, and I couldnt have been happier! We sat in the Arbor Room which was beautiful! The service was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was by far some of the best food I have eaten. We enjoyed bison lollipops, and foie gras for our appetizers. Both were very yummy, but the foie gras really blew me away! For dinner I enjoyed the soft shell crab and jasmine rice, and my boyfriend got the swordfish and scallops. The servings were much bigger than you would expect, which was a really great surprise! For dessert we ordered my favorite, creme brulee. This was THE best creme brulee I have ever eaten. I couldnt even stop saying it! Lol. Also, all our cocktails and drinks were very good. Overall, our whole experience was amazing and we will definitely be back in the future!

Ten minutes before closing, my husband and I walk into a restaurant that offered a menu with wonderful choices. Everything was cooked to order! The food was prepared with attention to appearance and a mix of flavors that had each one of use cleaning our plates. Having a glass of wine that would compliment the meal was a joy to select and priced reasonably. We would like to thank the chef for his/her attention to the quality of ingredients and to an incredibly clean kitchen. Suzanne.

My wife and I had a meal here that we both count among the very best weve ever had. Seafood appetizers were fresh, perfectly balanced, and just the right size. Entrees were exquisitely seasoned and prepared. The ambience is pleasant and attractive without being pretentious, and the service is much the same: attentive and friendly but not fawning or overly familiar. It aint cheap (we had a gift certificate), but we honestly didnt feel it was overpriced.

Shawn Doyle is an extremely talented and outstanding chef. The food is always fresh and delicious and always changing depending on seasonality and what is available. I dont think Ive ever had the same thing twice because the menu is always changing. If you are looking for a gourmet meal in a great setting, Savory Grille is the best around. They are great people committed to great food.

Worst dining experience in 50 years. Service unacceptable...taking over 30 minutes for acknowledgement and an hour and a half to receive entree. VERY unprofessional, unhospitable and certainly not value for your money (NY prices). No attempt at rectifying situation by owner and ours was not the only table (in a small room with no ambiance/loud) suffering...I wouldnt send my worst enemy.

Absolutely fabulous food and staff. They had a mediocre beer selection the evening we rolled in, but there were a couple of choices suitable for the nights fare. Dinged em down a star for the gi-huge-ic portions. Yes, I know that sounds unfair, but its how I feel about it as of this writing. Maybe next time Ill skip the appetizer, and hit on a desert. Mmmm, desert.

While the menu did not have choices that suit my palette, the staff and kitchen made every attempt to prepare something that I did, in fact enjoy. The location was easy to get to, the ambiance and service were excellent, and I would definitely bring my family here to enjoy the wide selection of well prepared items on the menu.

WE SING ITS PRAISES OFTEN TO OTHERS! Weve eaten here several times and each time has been a wonderful dining experience. The menu is varied and delicious! The intimate atmosphere makes for a lovely evening. The only draw back would be that it can tend to be noisy on a busy night. Well worth the money!

Over the past few years Ive taken a lot of my friends to Savory Grill. Weve never once been disappointed. Your food is exquisitly prepared with fresh and, oft times, in-season vegetables that I believe are grown right on your property, bringing us divine meals. I am so glad you are so close to me.

A beautiful outing up Huffs Church Rd to a relaxed, cozy setting. Unobtrusive, competent service presages enjoyable presentations by a sophisticated and creative chef. My wife and I have visited many fine restaurants around the world, and heartily recommend a visit to this country-elegant venue.
