Saturday afternoon lunch with family - Bad idea. I had dinner at Grain two weeks ago with a friend and we sat at the bar. Service was great. Food was great and beer was fresh. But, I went with my family yesterday afternoon and the food was terrible. Service was slow and uninspired and barely polite. Fries were a soggy mess and dont even think about getting the lobster roll for $17. It was terrible and both sandwiches came with a bun half full after waiting almost 30 minutes with no check in by our waitress. If this Grain doesnt straighten itself out like the one on Main Street, itll die a slow death in Kennett Square. The only positive was that the manager took both meals off our bill when we complained, which is the right thing to do, so we appreciated her offering.

This Grain did not offer the same level of experience I had in Newark, but it was good nonetheless. The beer selection seemed to be nearly identical, as well as the menu. The environment was well designed and clean. Our waitress came over almost immediately and was patient with us as we were waiting for two members of our party. Once we ordered, appetizers came out right away, but the main meal took longer than we expected. Our waitress seemed to get flustered with the busyness of the restaurant and forgot about us for a while, but remained pleasant and responsive when we could grab her. Overall, I think this location is still getting its feet under itself, but it will be great when it does!

Yesterday at 6pm I was with a dinner party of six that was seated in the higher section in brutal sunlight with no shade. My wife asked to have our party reseated out of the sun and the rude young hostess told us we could not be reseated even though I saw several empty tables out of the shade. We left the restaurant and dined at a friendlier, more professionally run establishment spending close to $250 on our meal. I will never go the the Grain in the future and I will tell my friends about my poor experience there. With this kind of disrespectful service, it should only be a short matter of time before this restaurant goes the way of the last two failed restaurants at the same location.

Lunch with out of town guest today. Way too pricey for very poor quality lunch food served in unappetizing style. Half hour wait for soup and salad. Dressing arrived 10 min later. Salad inedible. Maryland Crab soup looked like strait from a can, served tepid with cold crabmeat sprinkled on top. Obviously new inexperienced stumbling teen age servers. Waitress kept explaining all the alcoholic bevs, even after my guest indicated we were on working lunch, no alcohol. First week open, so give em a break, but since they have another location with good, reputation, i am wondering where was the kitchen supervisor. Will wait a few months and see if improved. Like to support local business.

Just had apps, and a few drinks. Service was average, she didnt come back and check to see how are food was. If she had, we would of told her that the CITRUS avocado salad had no CITRUS and just had sliced almonds and avocado, in addition it called for fried goat cheese that was missing...boring. We ordered it because it sounded different, which obviously it wasnt. My gf had the crab nachos, they were terrible she said they said they were compared to "slop" with greasy fried wonton chips. Not impressed, bummer we need more restaurants in Kennett like 4 dogs!

The food here was terrible. The hummus was too strongly seasoned so that it was overpowered with the taste of...something. I couldnt quite place it. The French onion soup was inedible. The broth was flavorless and the cheese was below average. Chicken wings were dry. Ranch dressing tasted so strongly of dill that I thought it might have gone bad. Our waiter crashed into the table next us with their food, almost spilling it out onto their table. The upstairs, enclosed patio has a nice view. I cant think of anything else that was positive.

My wife and I decided to give the Kennett Grain a try. The waitress was great but the food was terrible and I can eat just about anything. We had three appetizers: the cheesesteak flatbread, shrimp lejon and the Brussel sprouts. None of the three was very good. I would like for the place to be successful, as I knew one of the owners growing up. The place could use a good cleaning too. The beer list is decent but the beer and food at Kennett Brewing is much better.

I like the gastro-pub cuisine. Ive been here a few times since it became Grain and Ive had a few things on the menu already. Ill be coming back for more so I can try the whole menu. The beer list is good, and they use a good system to measure the tastes you like so you can try new kinds. Sadly they didnt have a good selection of Belgian types so I usually go for a whiskey sour instead. Please get some more Belgians!

Food was amazing definitely worth telling other people to go try them out. I love that they are a scratch cooking restaurant. And their specials are amazing. Soups are fresh and I was told also made in house. They can have 20 stars go support Grain Ksq oh yeah brunch was amazing as well.

It was good, but I wouldnt pay $11 for the citrus avocado salad again. There were only two thin slices of avocado on top and one small ball of fried goat cheese cut in half and a little bit of sliced almonds. I was disappointed. Could definitely use some more toppings.

Overall, a good experience. Always loved the roof deck before this was Grain. I had the Citrus avocado salad with salmon. It was very filling and the fried goat cheese was amazing. The Pom margarita was also tasty.

Good service and good food. The atmosphere is a huge improvement over the old Half Moon. I would give 4 stars but the beer is way too expensive. Cheapest beer is 6 bucks, average price is 7 bucks.

Their Nachos were layered and tasty. There was live music that added to the atmosphere. The waiter staff was friendly and prompt. It was a pleasant date dinner.

Nice bar. Have a rooftop section that is great when the sun goes down but a bit annoying otherwise. Food is very good and the attached is helpful.

The menu was interesting but very small portions. My mixed drink had very little liquor. The live music was not very good at all.
